  1. I just received my ArmorSuit Military Shield from Amazon. It was just under $10 and I'm putting it on today before any extensive use. I have a GizmoVest on order also.

I set my user button for one press to toggle the screen on/off. I'm not sure if that is best, but it is easy. I like to hang my GPS from the pack strap and just let it hang if not in use. I figured I'm not looking at it then anyway. I'll see how that works.

Congrats on the new 600 Chrysalides! ;)

  2. I don't get any kickback, and I don't own Garmin shares. I don't even own these models of GPSr.

I received my latest REI pre-holiday sales flyer. Oregon 600 will be going for $250 for members. 600 has no topo map, no camera, and no battery pack. Nov 14-23.

I also noticed that gpscity.com has a "BIG SALE" on the Oregon 650t for $400. This one has camera and 100k topo map as well as battery pack. Free shipping and no tax outside Nevada. I have no idea when this one will end. http://www.gpscity.com/garmin-oregon-650t.html

Do you know if the REI sale requires a coupon or code? I was planning on replacing my 60csx soon and this was one of the models I was considering. I'm not a member yet, but I was planning on joining and getting my new GPSr from REI due to their return policy. This would save me some $ to use for other gear.

No coupon necessary for the Oregon 600. Anyone know if you need to be a member to get the sale price?

Coupon code is FALLMEMBER for regular priced item, but you need to be a member. If you get it in store, you don't need the coupon code - they can check if you used the discount previously, and if not, they will apply it to your item.

You may also want to watch GPSCity to see if they match REI's price for the Oregon 600.

Thanks for that info! I forgot to ask one thing, does the REI one year return policy count for sale items? That was a prime reason for considering REI in case I don't find a problem till after the normal 30 day period. I know I could always send it to Garmin, but I've heard mixed feelings about their warranty work.

  4. Actually, I logged out of Geocaching and then logged back in, now all is good.

Thanks for being patient with me Tricia. When you don't do this for over 6 years you become a NewBe again!

  5. Today was my first real day caching in a very long time. I am very out of practice! I was using my 60csx and my IPhone 5s using the geosphere app. I accidently posted found on one of the caches twice (GC550F8, SF Bay Trail: Squished at Pt. Isabel). I deleted one of the logs but my number of finds is still one higher than it should be. How should I ensure that the double find is corrected?
