  1. Oh, I didn't know we weren't supposed to mail travelers! I mailed a trackable coin to my Mom to place in a cache on her property because it hadn't gone very far in 3 years...oops.
  2. I realize there is controversy here about the PMO caches, but when I start placing mine they will all be PMO's. I think it does add security.
  3. Dorqie, I think your idea in the other thread of knitting items is fabulous, just be sure to put it in a sealed baggie with a little note about it being handmade. I would trade for something of that nature in a heart beat! I sew, and have been thinking about the same idea. I make cloth reusable snack baggies (think fabric ziplock with velcro), cloth napkins, dolls, etc. I would love it if there were more handmade items in caches.
  4. I don't go alone, it just never feels right to me. My husband is not as big of a fan of geocaching as I am, but I am slowly converting friends
  5. I personally find it just plain annoying. But that's just me I'm not sure if it's legal or not. Ethical? I don't think so. Here is a game where you use coordinates to find a cache...well not really, you can maybe use the coordinates or not...but we're not telling you if the coordinates are right, makes it harder. Hahaha...look how hard we made it by giving you the wrong numbers.
  6. Gently used books or CD's are always nice in a large cache. I like going swag shopping at the thrift store, you can find unique and inexpensive items and it seems more like treasure than another plastic toy (no offense to the McToy people...hey my 5 yr old loves those ugly things!).
  7. I just recently replaced an entire cache. The last few entries said it was filled water and the log book was complete mush. I e-mail the CO and got no reply. Also there was no activity on their account since last Sept. Since I was going to go find that cache anyway (it's been on my list for awhile), and I had an extra lock-n-lock and log book, I just decided to replace it. We are coming into the busy season of caching and I want people to have good memories of caching, not another gross, wet, moldy, cache. Anyway, when we got there we found the cache...it was indeed disgusting, a plastic gallon jug inside of a plastic shopping bag, completely soaked. We replaced it with the new one. When I logged it, I said the CO could contact me if they had any questions. I am drying out the log book but it was so soaked that it has become a solid little mass, I don't think it can be opened. I don't know if I did the right thing, but tried to use my best judgment and I hope the CO will be happy if they check on it, not annoyed with me for "helping".
  8. Thanks for posting this, I had no idea it even existed and come to find out it's right here in Washington! Yikes!
  9. I just wonder who takes the time to notice such things? It would never occur to me to check if someone logged their own cache, why on earth would I care?
  10. That's great! I'll look for the magic cast next time I go to the store, I'll post pics if I manage to create some Thanks!!!
  11. I'm trying to think of inexpensive containers you can put that in to prevent it from being crushed but drawing a blank. It need not be waterproof, because you can put the scorpion in a ziploc, or put the container in a ziploc. Besides, copper doesn't turn to mush in water Anyone have a good suggestion? Re-purposing a container that normally gets tossed, available for free in quantity from some business, would be the best solution. I think it's Gerber that makes a baby food that comes in a plastic rectangle container w/reusable lid. My 5 yr old loves baby food prunes (odd, I know but why fight it! LOL) and I save the containers. Maybe ask friends with babies if they have any.
  12. Oh Em Gee! You did THAT with a milk cap!?!!!! I have been RACKING my brains for ways to use those caps (because it just SUCKS to throw them away when I know birds are eating them and dying from it!), AND wanting to make some higher quality swag! I know mine won't look as amazing as that, but do you mind if I try to make some along those lines?
  13. Brand new socks? I'm good with that! Functional and won't break, not some plastic piece of crap...heck yeah!
  14. I don't want to open up a whole other can of worms, but this is something I am curious about as I am looking for a spot to place my first cache. Does anyone think, or notice, that membership only caches are less susceptible to degradation?
  15. From what I've seen, I'd say if you're going to be sick if your swag degrades you should invest in some sick bags Sorry. But to answer your question, I've seen very few items that are "adult". Mostly I think because the adults aren't in to trading as much as kids are. I guess one could argue the chicken vs. the egg case. Do adults not trade as much because the swag is geared to kids, or is the swag geared to kids because adults don't care to trade as much? I like the signature items for a grown up trade (yes, I realize technically you don't have to trade for a signature item but I'd never take one and not leave something cool in its place), because they are unique. I've also traded books and enjoyed my revolving library Those are the only adult things I can think of that I've traded for.
  16. Our local IGA has them too, so you might check there if you have one
  17. Oh man! I really didn't need another hobby...lol. Found my first one today, now off to buy an ink pad and decide on a stamp
  18. Oh good, we can add "not logging a DNF" to the list of reasons I'm going to hell
  19. It would crack me right up to see someone caching in Armani. I'm not sure why, but it would!
  20. In an effort to make everyone happy, I logged 3 DNF's tonight Okay, actually I did it just because I HAD 3 DNF's tonight.
  21. Damp logs should be dried out or replaced, no arguments here. However, I think in this sport that is going to be a very common factor (I live in the Pacific Northwest so maybe more of it over here). Would a mask help when opening caches? Maybe latex gloves and a face mask?
  22. So, let me get this straight, because maybe you were kidding and I missed it. You are upset because someone didn't log a DNF on your cache and called you without logging a DNF. You are so upset you are considering deleting the smiley. However you yourself never log a DNF? Or was the laughing supposed to indicate you were joking? Just trying to clairify.
  23. Ugh those things are ALL OVER our house and yard right now! Hubby had the power washer out today, I bet they have all new webs by morning. The guy in camo would have made me pee my pants, I'd rather see the spider.
