  1. I look at it like this:

You don't purchase something when you decide to pay the membership fee; you SUPPORT something. Your "thank you" gift is a small handful of MOCs created by other SUPPORTERS. Watch PBS for free if you like, but don't cry inequity when cookbooks and videos are sent only to those folk who have donated money to the station.

  2. Does anyone know of any "celebrity" geocachers? Considering the level of activity down in L.A., I'm sure there's at least a few fellow cachers who are celebrities. What about news anchors, radio personalities, politicians, musicians, etc.? Local or national, it doesn't matter.

    Just curious...

  3. Is there any real difference between these two models other than the out-of-the-box amount of memory. I know the Gold has more mem. and thus a more detailed built in basemap, but is that it? I'm thinking I could purchase a Meridian, pick up some more memory at some point, u/l street data, and end up with a Gold.

Am I wrong? Inquiring minds want to know...

  4. Hey, the statistics don't lie. California is the best, just look at the protected lands and the rural/urban land areas stats. icon_smile.gif At least we can still drive in our cities if we choose to, unlike NYC (ok...not impossible, just impractical). I'd love living here if it were only for the fact that people can't smoke in restaurants. We all know how well those non-smoking sections work icon_wink.gif I actually don't have a beef with any other state, but I do find it curious that typically only non-californios have a problem with us. I rarely if ever hear a Californian say a bad word about another state. Maybe we're too busy enjoying all of our open space, beaches, good weather, diversity, culture, etc. to care...

  6. I don't have a HUGE problem with caches like this, but I don't see how they connect with geocaching.

Perhaps someone should start a site for geoeverythingOTHERthancaches. A virtual cache is cool by me if you can visit a location based on a set of coordinates and enjoy a similar experience that the cache-placer and other cache-finders have (e.g. a nice view, a historic marker, etc.). In this case, assuming the van is in working condition and assuming someone wanted to revisit a "find" (this is assuming a lot, by the way), they probably wouldn't be successful because these are moving targets.

Call me a tradionalist, but I like geoCACHES. You know, things you can find and open.
