  1. Now that I have carbo loaded and re-read the post 9 times over, I see what the groan was about. sorrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyy. my bad But I really do like virtuals for the above said reasons! How about any one else? p.s. Thanks fellow kayaker for the tip! **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  2. I like virtual caches thank you. We don't have as many caches around here as alot of you. And I don't have the time to drive 100 miles to a saturated area every weekend. I keep a list of virtuals handy and at least I can do some kind of geo-caching while I drive back and forth to work, chaperone the marching band or ride shotgun on a 360 mile round trip to pick up suits for the choir. So there. (time for a lunch break, blood sugar must be low ) **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx

  4. I am still laughing over his middle name! I sure wish our 25 pounder cat took to baths as well as MAM. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  5. I was royally ticked off last month when the geo-dumb @$$(S ripped off all the local caches including mine. I went to my closest cache and checked it out right after getting the report and sure enough, empty except for the person that kept with the theme and added a piece of wood. A few days later I added a few items so finders would not be sad when they found it empty. I haven't been there in about 2 1/2 weeks and I have reports now that it is brimming with goodies. Was I visited by the cache fairies? **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  6. Blue and white? For hiding the cache on an iceberg or glacier? **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  7. If UMC can complain so can I re: bag of doots dial-up connection. (I would have complained last week but I was riding shotgun on a marathon 360 mile round trip in 9 hours where I was only able to snag one locationless cache) Draw deep breath... OK, we've lived in our house 18 years, end of a paved road kind of place where I refuse to plant any caches within 3 miles so people won't find out about our little neighbor hood. SO the developers instead have started building spec homes way up behind us - - which aren't selling too great - - and when they do sell and they put in the phone lines, our phone service gets even "dootier" than it already was (Phone service from the big "V"). So now our crummy dial up that used to get 49K baud now on a really good day may get 30k baud. Needless to say, we can't get DSL. So, I am pretty slow at home reading and writing to the forums, and am FORCED to do it at work **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  8. I have the data cable, I have Easy GPS and waypoints downloaded AND I have a new fangled computer that doesn't have a #&(@#*)*$)$ RS232 serial port. Darn. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  9. I vote no on business cards. And yes on cards specific to that cache (like a souvenir card the finder can take away) or a QSL card from a fellow ham. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  10. You may have to ignore this one too. Thanks **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  11. I used to fly around Colorado and Wyoming in a Embraer Bandeirante with a friend that piloted for Rocky Mt Airways. (I think defunct since the mid-80's) Fun. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  12. Let's see...Mine is ikayak because I kayak. And the avatar is of boats at a boat launch because that is where I'd rather be at most any given time. Ready to launch down river!!! Picture is taken at the White Bluffs boat launch on the Columbia River's Hanford Reach National Monument. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  13. I was at Costco last night and noticed they had the Magellan Sport Trak Pro for $229. It was packaged with additional mapping software on CD ROM, a case, a thing to stick the GPRS in your windshield and instruction book. Just in case anyone is interested... **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  14. Since you're talking first finds with the yellow, when my yellow said "0" feet to waypoint, I was only 6.5 feet away from the cache. I'd say that's not too bad, eh!?!?! **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  15. Lincoln City Public Library has internet access. And you can go hunting for floats (without a GPSr). See http://www.centraloregoncoast.com/pages/glass-floats.html. Insaneape found a Spencer Erlendson float within 30 seconds of us hitting the beach and then we found ZERO the rest of the week! **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  16. Were we supposed to go back at least 25 years? Argus 75 (my first camera) Exa Original (wish I still owned it) Exacta 500 (wish I still owned it too) Earlier version of the Pentax IQ Zoom Agfa 1280 **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  17. mmm, those are the tame pictures of Bimbo Barbie!?!?!? **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  18. I had done all that... clearing cache, restarting computer etc. It, as of a few minutes ago was still doing it!! Maybe it's this computer in this office. Funny things never happen at home. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  19. ok, here's my list: Nikon Coolpix 880B Olympus OM-10 Pentax IQ-Zoom 105 (this is the one I carry if I am whitewater rafting) Vivitar Vivicam 10 (our cheap digicam experiment) I never use disposibles, I've had bad luck with them. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx
  20. mmm, suddenly when I click on "New since your last visit" I am taken to the morning of October 17 in the posts **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. - Groucho Marx

  23. I've seen actual photos from the Diamage and the image quality just wasn't there. I think it may have to do with the mirror trick it uses to keep the camera body skinny. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted.
  24. quote:Tim & June Few of you will know of Burl Ives "Little Boxes". (they were all made of ticky tacky and were on the hillside). I am that old, and it was one of the first songs I learned to play during my failed attempt at learning the guitar. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted.
  25. quote:MacBWizard201 I used to own a yellow eTrex and generally it would work much better than what you describe above. I am the new owner of MacBWizard201's yellow and he is right, I am consistantly getting great accuracy readings with it. In the open I usually get in the 17-24ft range and in semi-tree cover it got 25-37ft on a recent find. Close enough that I nearly tripped over the cache. Can't beat that! Though...your mileage may vary. **************************************************** Quote me as saying I was mis-quoted.
