Project-gc.com is absolutely great for that and more. I've got their free offering embedded in my profile page - check it out. Just click on the image once to open the user stats on project-gc.com and then click the Maps tab to get to the counties option.

In the video the officer says something like "we have the geocacher and they are going back to the police department with us"!
There are a lot of caches within city limits in Algonquin and Crystal Lake. I hope this doesn't become an anti-caching zone. -
a cache with no container, no real search involved and that requires you to send an email to someone that most likely never bothers to check your answer and probably doesn't give a flip if you gave the correct response.
I hear your point on this, but on the flip side there are some very well-done, involved Virtuals with responsive COs.
One that really stands out in my experience is Escape From Alcatraz. The CO actually did provide the certificate promised for successfully "escaping" The Rock! It was one of my more memorable caching experiences - the entertaining tour of the prison island and then receiving the reward about a week later.

I'm really tired of seeing boring log entries like "TFTC!". Some folks make really interesting entries with a story, some humor, etc. I think we need to be able to click "Like" and then be able to view logs sorted by most liked if desired.
Thoughts?
Who would click "like" for a log, the CO, or other cachers?
If the CO liked the person's log that much, a thank you email works.
If it's other cachers, I'd rather they didn't start a forum on my cache pages.

Perhaps there could be a feature for logs that is similar to "favorite" points for caches. Each time a cache owner receives X amount of Found It/DNF logs on their caches, they receive a "favorite log point" that they can dole out to a cache finder of their choosing. "Favorite log points" would be displayed on geocacher profiles, giving cache finders a public acknowledgement of the "thank you" from the cache owner. It also might serve as a motivation for some to spend extra time crafting a nice Found It log.
Personally I write short logs when I'm logging from the field, and go longer when I'm logging later from my computer. My suggestion probably wouldn't provide much extra motivation for geocachers who log their finds similarly to mine, but it could provide a nudge for some to up the ante with some more detailed, well-written logs.

I had a similar thought for decent-sized park in my area, where there was only 1 cache tucked into a corner of it. It turns out that there actually were more caches in the park, but they were Puzzles rather than Traditionals.
The Puzzle cache type icons can be placed at quite a distance (I think 3 miles?) from the actual coordinates of the cache, so it could be there is more than meets the eye with your park.

I like the original idea as well. Additionally, perhaps there could be an option for users to display their city or state below the country flag if they so desire.

I found one yesterday that has the stated goal of visiting towns that have nuclear power plants. I'd categorize that one as unique.
My favorite was a travel bear that wanted to visit all 50 U.S. states (just drops, no "took it to" logs). I took it from the Midwest to California, and it still has 46 states to visit. When I drop my first TB I think I'll set a similar goal.

I am relatively new to geocaching and have really enjoyed the outdoor and online experience. I'm hoping some veterans can offer guidance on this situation.
I found a trackable today and logged it properly for the retrieval and a visit to our next cache. On the way home I re-visited a cache that I already found, so my friend could find it.
Should I log this trackable as having visited this cache even though I do not plan to re-log it as a find? I noticed that I could write a note on the cache page and log the trackable's visit that way, but would this be considered acceptable or poor form? Or, am I sweating this for no reason?

Weekend only caching?

My wife and are definitely weekend warriors.
Our ProjectGC stats say that 67% of our finds are on a Saturday or Sunday. We enjoy caching combined with hikes, and it's a lot easier to find the time for that on the weekends.
During your weekday downtime, you might be able to get your caching fix by solving puzzles or checking if you qualify for challenge caches. Then go grab them on the weekends.
