  1. Okay, the category has been edited. Two photos are now required, instead of three. I have also edited some typos and awkward phrases. I may have missed some. If there is anything else, let me know so I can edit it and move further along in the discussion. Is there anything else that I should add that we should accept into the category? Something that I may be missing? Thank you for all your support.
  2. Yes I know. I will be editing the description today to make it more concise. My computer has autocorrect so when I am typing, it sometimes puts in phrases that don't always make sense. I'll make a new post in the forum when it has been updated. I will make this more clear in the category, but basically here is what I meant by that. Three photos if a plaque is present. Two photos if it's not. We need a bare minimum of two different angles of the specimen and one additional photo of the plaque to prove the specimen actually has had contact with lunar dust or is a real moon rock. If no plaque is there, then this photo can be submitted for a website so we can prove it's authenticity. Thank you for your feedback everyone!
  3. I really like this idea. As a current student studying geology, I can see that this category is quite different and useful. I, myself, have found over 100 earthcaches and have created 60+. These signs help me create some of my earthcaches. I see these all the time and I don't think it's redundant enough to not pass peer review. These signs have no history to be included in the Signs of History Category. These signs aren't about Flora or Fauna and can't be submitted there either. Sometimes, these signs are placed a few miles from the actual geologic site which would mean that they don't go into the Place of Geologic Significance category. I've seen signs about mountains and such over 10 miles away from the actual site. Usually, these signs are at a rest stop or view point or along a trail. I think you can expand this category to include natural disasters as well such as historical markers about floods, or monuments about large earthquakes and tsunamis. Yes, there may be some crossing over, but most calories about historical markers do anyways. Here's a few of my waymarks that I think would be great additions to this category, if it passes. Some of these can cross over to more than two categories. http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMQF53_Silica_Dome_Overton_NV http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMPZPY_The_Confluence_of_the_Santa_Clara_and_Virgin_Rivers_St_George_UT http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMN2R1_Discovery_Well_Long_Beach_CA http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMMPEX_The_San_Andreas_Fault_Palmdale_CA http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMMC9H_The_San_Rafael_Swell_Emery_UT http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMDFCD_Las_Vegas_The_Meadows_Las_Vegas_NV http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WM9KN8_Mixocetus_Baleen_Whale_Aliso_Viejo_CA http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMJRAW_Volcano_Steam_Vents_Volcano_HI
  4. In the past, I remember that we've had similar categories with this issue before. One example being Paleontology & Fossils, which do currently have some waymarks crossing over into the Rocks & Minerals category, but not all can cross over. Another example would be LEGO Sculptures and Models which, before this category, were submitted under the Figurative / Abstract Sculptures categories. This goes the same with Silhouette Sculptures. All of which, we've seen in the past and have gotten past peer review.
  5. All, I have created a new category (Lunar Specimens) that I want some feedback on before putting it into a group vote. I think this category could be a great one, since I have made it very wide spread to include everything I could think of. I see a lot of potential here. Thoughts? http://www.Waymarking.com/cat/details.aspx?f=1&guid=97ce8dd0-9922-469a-b905-c60e6f8fef70&r=200&gid=6&exp=True bluesnote
  6. Here's my Orange County, California Geocaches Facebook group. Feel free to check us out, or join if interested. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1460997120874259/
  7. Here's a list of MUST DO caches in the Las Vegas Area that I've found. If you have any questions on them, please feel free to email me. Is this your first visit to Vegas? They have a free and paid monorail service between hotels that is quite useful. I don't know how much of an active cacher you are, but if caching is your first priority (like many of us) you can enjoy your time by doing these. Please note, I excluded virtuals since there are many in Vegas and I can't list everyone. GC27R8Y - clever puzzle and location at final GC1DJEC - library cache GC5151Q - great view GC8F7F -- I think the oldest physical cache along the strip GC2N7VK - near Atomic Testing Museum GC2AMJK - near Pinball Hall of Fame GC3178Z - near Vegas sign + a virtual cache GC4N9KP - 12 stage Wherigo within walking distance in shopping center GC4M1R1 - fun multi stage puzzle. Must have QR reader and car since some stages are .5 miles away from each other GCN2V0 - famous Vegas puzzle GC1NVKY - inside Clark County Museum + a virtual cache inside I hope this list helps you since these are my favorite must do caches. I'm sure there's a bunch more you can add to this list.
  8. I got that message too by a "fake" cacher named "Gilmore9527". I'm already a premium member so I know it's a hacker website. On another note, I get emails everytime someone messages me through the message center. This time, I didn't. Could this be related? I only knew about this messages since I got a notification in my message box when I logged into geocaching.
  9. As mentioned above, look for local events on the map. You can filter out which cache icons to each for near you. Also, you may want to see if your area has a yahoo group or Facebook group. That way, it is easier to stay in contact with other local cachers. I know for my area in Orange County, CA, we have about 5 different Facebook groups and a Yahoo group. Welcome back to geocaching!
  10. I always use my mac with safari to surf the internet, including to use Waymarking. It's been working fine since the site was fixed a few months ago. Issues with safari could be caused by internet speed, internet connection, modem, how busy the server is, how many devises are connected to the modem, time of day, and speed of your computer. I use a macbook 2009 version and it's fast. You might want to trouble shoot these or contact your internet provided. Both of which I have done in the past and usually get the problem fixed. I hope this helps.
  11. Here's a link to my own waymark that I am suggesting could be a good fit to be featured. This waymark is very special to me, and to the community, as I designed, and constructed a geocaching course as my Eagle Scout Project earlier this year. The project helped me earn the Rank of Eagle in April of this year and I have been getting a lot of positive feedback from finders on Geocaching.com. My Eagle Scout Project was made with Waymarking & Geocaching in mind. A full compressive breakdown and links to the caches are found on the webpage for the waymark. http://www.Waymarking.com/waymarks/WMPGR6_bluesnotes_Eagle_Scout_Project_Trabucco_Canyon_CA
  12. It might be your browser. I had the same issue all last week with Safari on my Mac. I could go to Waymarking.com, but when I went to go log in it gave me a server error message. I went as far as bringing my computer to the Apple Store. They said that it was my software wasn't up to date. I updated my software and it works fine now. Although you have to look on the App Store on the mac, rather than Apple's website to do so which is why I haven't had the chance to do so up to that point. Chrome may have the same sort of issue. I think Waymarking.com may have updated their servers and older versions of internet apps such as Explorer, Safari, and Crome, won't recognize the new code.
  13. For some reason, Waymarking.com decided to log me out of the site. This is the secound time that I am aware of this. But today, I tried to log in and I get an error message from safari. It says "safari can't establish a secure conection to the server". I tried empting my cache and reseting safari but nothing. I tried going to the forums on my Mac, and it also logged me out there too and won't let me log back in. I'm typing this on my iPhone which is the only way I can use the site. Is this just me?
  14. Yes it's down again. Can't get through from safari on my phone. It says the server disconnected.
  15. Is anyone else getting the usual error message after trying to save a waymark? I kept going back and forth on my browser trying to save it. I've also noticed that the site has gotten slower and slower today. Is it just me? I really hope so as I don't want to have the site un-operational for two months like we did the last time this happened.
  16. Waymarking.com is working fine, but geocaching maps is not. I get a very similar error message when I use the maps. Could the issues be connected? I saw another form for the map issue on geocaching and others were having issues with it so I know it's not my computer.
  17. Yup, I get the same thing. Similar to what was happening to Waymarking.com for months, almost to the point where the site wouldn't be usable anymore. Hopefully this will only last a few hours.
  18. It's not happening to me. I get email notifications the second it happens. It might be in your spam or elsewhere. Both geocaching and Waymarking were offline today for a few minutes so that might have something to do with your email not recognizing something. Have your waymarks been approving and you haven't been receiving the usual email with them?
  19. The Geocaching database had a minor failure a few minutes ago. Waymarking still shares account data with the Geocaching website and so when Geocaching goes down, often Waymarking will see consequences as well. This has always been the case. It is not related to the issues we have been seeing in the past couple weeks. As far as I can tell there are no major issues happening to the Waymarking site right now and you should be able to use the site as before. Bootron Thanks for the info. Hopefully that's the case. It looks like both sites are up and running again as of 1:39 PM PST.
  20. On Geocaching I get: An Error Has Occurred Your request has resulted in an error. Please return to this site's home page to continue. Copyright © 2000-2012 Groundspeak Inc. All Rights Reserved. On Waymarking I get: Server Error in '/' Application. Runtime Error Description: An exception occurred while processing your request. Additionally, another exception occurred while executing the custom error page for the first exception. The request has been terminated.
  21. And... we're back to square one again. Thought we were in the clear after a few days of the site working perfectly. This afternoon 1pm PST I went to the main page and it logged me out without telling me. I logged back in and it took forever to load the next page. I got this response in bold red, "Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding." I tried to use geocaching as well and their site is down as well. I guess it was a server wide issue. I got an error message from safari that said there were too many redirects to connect to geocaching.com.
  22. Wow, so I guess no one thinks this is a good idea. I posted this 11 days ago and got about 40 views but no replies? I really want to make this category happen, but I can't do it without some feedback first. I'll give it another week then I'll delete this post if nothing happens.
  23. So I was looking at some of my old waymarks that have been declined over the years and I have noticed some of them are locked. When I click the edit button I get this message in red: This waymark has been locked by the category group and can no longer be edited. How do officers lock a waymark and how can I undo this (if it's possible)?
  24. Although, I have received an ottoman at my first cache event a few years ago. It was terrible to hold on to that thing. I have also seen a bowling ball as a TB and I have heard there is a shopping cart TB as well.
