Zoals in een ander draadje is aangekondigd hebben Sivota en ik de organisatie van de Dutch Geocoin 2011 op ons genomen. Vorig jaar is door diverse personen geopperd dat de kwaliteit van de inzendingen hoger zou zijn als aan de ontwerpers gevraagd zou worden zich te richten op een of meerdere thema's (Goethe). Anderen verwachten meer inzendingen als iedereen vrij is om te ontwerpen wat hij of zij zelf aanspreekt (Mao). Persoonlijk heb ik al aangegeven dat ik het aan zou durven om een jaar een experiment met thema's aan te gaan om te kijken hoe dat loopt. Wat we ook vinden is dat de Dutch Geocoin 2011 breed gedragen moet worden, ook het idee van een thema. Vandaar dat we nu een enquête op geocaching.nl gestart hebben. Deze enquête zal lopen tot en met vrijdag 11 februari. Mensen die niet kunnen of willen stemmen op geocaching.nl kunnen hun keuze ook kenbaar maken door een mail te sturen naar dutchgeocoin apestaartje gmail punt nl met in het onderwerp :poll coin. Iedereen wordt uitgenodigd om haar of zijn keuze te beargumenteren in dit forum. In de tussentijd gaan Sivota en ik ook verder met een aantal zaken achter de schermen voor deze coin. Juist dit stukje heb ik laten staan omdat ik ook uit mijn contacten met Marit geen andere conclusie kan trekken dan dat ze een hartstikke aardige meid is. Het tweede gedeelte van deze quote is volgens mij alleen gebaseerd op haar moderatie werk bij gc.nl. Voorlopig ga ik er vanuit dat ze daar het moderatiebeleid van gc.nl uitvoerde (een beleid waar ik het ook niet altijd mee eens ben) We kunnen aannemen dat Marit hier het moderatiebeleid van gc.com gaat uitvoeren. Als het werk van Nick daar een voorbeeld van is, heb ik daar niks op aan te merken (ja in sommige draadjes zou ik een paar postjes eerder ingegrepen, maar juist dat terughoudende van Nick weet ik ook wel te waarderen). Daar komt nog bij dat ze in het begin ook nog ondersteuning van Nick gaat krijgen. Ik heb er dus het volste vertrouwen in dat het goed gaat komen. Marit: Welkom (en succes) p.s. Volgens mij is het nooit een bezwaar geweest / opgevallen dat Nederlands niet Nick's moedertaal is. Hello, I'd like to translate my Wherigo Geocaching Tools to make it useful for more people. I'm only able to write English and Dutch, so I'm looking for people willing to translate about 100 words / small sentences in a excel/open office/tab seperated file. Since I'm only able to use 7bit ascii charcaters in urwigo/orgeon, only languages that are reasonable translatable in 7bit ascii can be used. For example "coordinate" has bin translated to "coordinaat" in Dutch, not "coördinaat". Tc

Solved after I've removed the block comment part from the user defined functions

When I (and others) try to download my Wherigo: http://www.Wherigo.com/cartridge/download....d5-f8d46dcf40c6 I get the same error message, I've removed the special cacharcters in the description, but no result. The cardridge was build with urwigo. Has anybody suggestion for this problem?

I hate the like button: 1) I don't have a facebook account and i don't want one. 2) You can probably like caches you did not even found. Haven't checked that since 1) If the pages where build using a language like php or perl with a mysql database I could have implemented this feature in a few hours. I don't speak .aspx I assume it will not be that different. The simplicity of the rating system is what I like. My advide would be to implement the Dutch Geo d'Or system http://www.geocaching.nl/cacherating/ Tc

Hello Jeremy, On this side of the ocean it's already Wednesday. I still see the same error in the TB map. For example: http://www.geocaching.com/track/map_gm.aspx?ID=1643320 On the 4 of april I rode Quest 233 from Harskamp (label #311) to Drongelen (label #317) on the map, Harskamp has label 319 and Drongelen 313 (yes somewhere there is an offset of 2, but the most important error is the reversing of my trip. Went something wrong with the hotfix? Greetings Toni

Hello, The system that was used on the dutch site (www.geocaching.nl) the Geo d'Or. Was working very nice. For each 20 caches you logged, you could give one Geo d'Or to a cache you'd visit. Past tense because, unfortunately the data on the dutch site isn't updated for a few months now. Probably this is easyly impemented by some sort of extension of the TB/GC system. For each 20 unique caches you log you receive a GD, that you can drop in a cache. Then you can select the "best" caches on absolute GD's or relative (GD's divided by number of logs). And a mathmetician could with some graphs (as in the english word for the dutch grafen) get even more useful information. Unfortunaltly I don't speak asp, else I would have offered to program it myself. Greetings Tc
