  1. I have found if I wobble from side to side during step 3 I fail. Slow and perfectly vertical as you can get it normally completes step 3 without smashing the thing against a rock.
  2. The previous poster gave one solution to work within the limitations of the website. But one solution that gives you all and more is GSAK. What you want is very simple and easy to accomplish in GSAK.
  3. No doubt this one is headed to the photography forum.
  4. ... Using the proper GSAK macro I get the full cache description and as many logs as I want to see in my 62s. Automating GSAK I can update my POIs quickly so even marking it as found on the GPS is not needed. Which GSAK macro lets you get a full description and logs onto a 62s ? This one. Of course you need to have that stuff loaded into your database.
  5. Waypoints are what you get when you press the mark key. Geocaches are what is contained in a .gpx file. and yes, poi's are another animal. They are things like the Micky D's that show up on maps.
  6. My nephew showed me email on a smartphone. I now understand why they went to HTML and I also understand they will never give a text option. You know, like only 200 folks or so using the site are not using a smartphone.
  7. Well it is a thread full of pictures so it seems the pictures sub-thread is an appropriate place.
  8. Favorite points are only available via the API. According to the iCaching website you must have version 4 or greater.
  9. Right after they put the widely requested weekly newsletter in text on the to-do list I'm sure GS will research the possibility of providing emails as text I'm sure it will be prioritized and put on the todo list. Babel fishing that last sentence yields it ain't going to happen.
  10. Dang. I messed that up and good. Start (#1) should be GCVG5Q Dike - Hike or Bike #1 #2 should be GCVRGJ Forgotten Roadway at Mudbay #3 should be GC42X1F BBDT01 #4 should be GC2X2J6 The Clarinet I'll get it fixed in the final. Bookmark and data file updated.
  11. Okay, I'll fix the bookmark by tomorrow.
  12. Bookmark is posted. I'll update cachemachine.hollenback.org shortly. Problems: #3 GC2X2J6 - Also listed as stop #1 #70 GC2JT9A - six DNF's in a row #87 GC1XKQZ - five DNF's in a row
  13. I doubt that this is the case but that doesn't prevent site spoofing. I've seen sites made to look just like the official site for some software application, with download links but they've inserted malware or some other nefarious or annoying code into the download file. If you're not paying attention it would be pretty easy to download something which looks like is from a legitimate site but turns out to be a scam to get people to install something nefarious. I got hoodwinked a couple of years ago after downloading an update of an application that I had been using for awhile. The application worked fine, but it's also hijacked my browser settings. So your saying that Clyde is not an honest hardworking guy? Are you also saying that gsak.net could be spoofed to insert malware? As I understand it that would take changing the DNS data. I was not aware that anyone can randomly change another sites DNS.
  14. Not any more, page is locked.
  15. Well little Veruka it is as easy as a few arm chair logs.
  16. You may have missed my post #10 - the sole distinguishing feature about the Block Party cache type vs. a regular event or mega-event is that it's Groundspeak hosting a party on their block. They literally close down some streets behind their office building, and use the plaza directly outside their office building. The uniqueness of the event is the ability to hear presentations from Lackeys who work in the building, buy merchandise directly from the team that handles Shop Geocaching order fulfillment, experience lab caches set up by the creative team, etc. Most important, you get to run into Lackeys all day long as they wander around talking to geocachers. They are hosting a party at "their place." The party is pretty much mandatory for all employees, from the mobile app developers to the marketing team to the customer service representatives. It is unlike any other event, which is why it has its own icon. You can't just pick it up and transplant it to Boston or Bonn, unless Groundspeak chose to open an office in those cities. Without the Groundspeak office, it's just an Event Cache, size "Mega." Yes, I know what the current "Block Party" is. But why couldn't GS find another block in which to host a party? Bring out Lackeys with their presentations, and volunteer reviewers, and trot out lab caches, and have a booth to sell merchandise? Maybe not as full blown as one right outside their offices, but something? I vote for Munich.
  17. Filling up your GPS with finds limit the number of unfound caches you can load. Simply don't load the found caches and only load unfound caches. That way your finds don't show up and you don't have to worry about finding already found caches.
  18. ET, Eldorado, Route 66 and Heart of Mojave to name a few. ET alone will practically get you there. Do ET and throw in some nvtriker caches and your there. Edit: Also add in Yerrington, NV.
  19. You might consider taking a look at the conversation over at GSAK starting here.
