  1. I agree, that's pretty much what I do, though it's obviously subjective. Sometimes I've gone out looking for several caches when I don't have a lot of time to spend searching. So if it's not a quick find, I move on to another site, planning to return another day when I can do a proper search. But if I feel I've put a decent amount of effort into it, and still couldn't find it, then I will post a DNF. How much is a "decent amount". It depends, and it probably even varies from day to day. Whatever I felt when I walked away.
  2. OK, my curiosity got the better of me . . . I checked prices at gpscity.com. The 110 is $149.95 there, the 120 is $209.95. So, you may be able to find comparable prices at other sites, but if you're thinking of ordering other stuff from Amazon anyway, you can toss in a new GPS at a favorable price, too. (They also have a sandwich grill for just $8 in the Friday Sale, for a quick bite when you get back from the wilderness ) There are 10 kinds of people in the world -- those who understand binary, and those who don't. 3. Amazon.com has the Rino 110 & 120 on sale TODAY ONLY in their weekly Friday Sale. On the home page, click on "Today's Deals" in the banner near the top; then on the "Today's Deals" page scroll down toward the bottom to find the "Friday Sale". Prices won't show until you add the item to your cart. The Rino 120 is $199.99, the Rino 110 is $149.99. I haven't done a price comparison to other sources, so YMMV. 4. Wasco is the small unincorporated town which we live near . . . and we've always had quite a few critters living with us, including our two children (currently teenagers ) . . . so life is usually something of a zoo, and I'm the keeper. 5. quote:Originally posted by The Leprechauns:But I'm a viola player. I would APPRECIATE tracking by GPS. None of the orchestral composers seem to know that the violas are there. The conductors never look at us. And we always have that "lost" look on our faces. x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x I was formerly employed by the Department of Redundancy Department, but I don't work there anymore. Violas ROCK! [] My 8th-grade daughter plays viola. She knows -- as do any REAL music lovers -- that it's the violas that make the rest of the orchestra sound good. Or, as we like to say . . . 6. Well, the problem is solved, I think, and I'm a happy camper. One of the recommended solutions from Garmin is to plug it in with the car lighter adapter for a few days, and that seemed to do the trick. No more "memory battery low" message. Methinks that using NiMH batteries in it just don't do the trick as far as recharging the built-in battery. 7. I've got a Garmin II+ (with combo power/PC cable) that is persistently giving me a "Memory Battery is Low" message. The book says it will need to go back to Garmin to get a new memory battery. That will set me back $89 + postage. I am otherwise satisfied with the unit, but can't help wondering if I wouldn't be better off spending a few more $$ and getting a newer unit, with WAAS and perhaps electronic compass. (On numerous occasions I've wished I had a compass with me but had either forgotten it or left it in the car.) I was looking at the eTrex Summit, for example -- anyone have any experience with it? Would it be a good upgrade from my II+? (And, of course, I'm sure I'd have to invest in a new cable . . .) Also -- I've been using NiMH batteries in it -- is it possible that it's as simple as NiMH batteries not adequately charging the internal battery? Violas ROCK! 8. I have a bug "When Pigs Fly #1" which bears a tag specifically stating its destination. It went MIA for several weeks, then suddenly showed up in a cache (placed by someone OTHER than the one who took it without logging it), and now the log for that cache SAYS that someone else has taken it now -- but once again, it hasn't been logged. At this point, I'll assume that too many people just don't understand HOW to log the taking/leaving of a bug. Violas ROCK!
