  1. I keep clicking on my cf.com shortcut button, just in case.
  2. According to Infosponge, the negativity was from personal emails not from content on cf.com.
  3. I begged and pleaded via email. I even offered to help him maintain the site to reduce his workload. I would encourage others to also. I wonder if he knows how many people really enjoyed (loved) that site? I guess I would suggest joining NEFGA.com.
  4. This is the worst geocaching news I've ever heard.
  5. Just looking for dry caves in Florida...and not for caching, just exploring.
  6. How about this for a new statistic? The degree difference between your easternmost and westernmost caches. Likewise north and south. Here are mine: Degree difference between easternmost and westernmost: 118° 61.010 Degree difference between northernmost and southernmost: 27° 45.992
  7. Anybody know of a listing of caves (Florida and otherwise) and their GPS coordinates?
  8. I'm all for more stats. The difference in opinion on this matter seems to stem from the fact that there are 2 perspectives on stats: 1. Creates competition perspective - gc.com is in this camp and doesn't want it to be competitive 2. It's just data - I'm here. Gimme more data.
  9. I haven't spent anytime at KP.com so this may be wrong-but Don't you have to enter your own logs there? I find it hard to believe that BruceS and CCCooper Agency don't top this list. I've been wondering where GTW has been since we never see her logs in NC any more! Make spellcheck a premium feature and I'll pay for a lifetime membership. 1. Yes, you have to enter your own stats 2. BruceS has not entered his stats, CCCA has not listed states cached stats 3. ?
  10. On your way to Cape Canaveral, there are several cool caches in Titusville area: Handle with Care Figure it Out
  11. Rest stop caches in Florida are listed here for your caching convenience: http://www.cacheflorida.com/doc/rest_stop_caches
  12. Snoogans, That's quite a streak. Would you consider going after a risky, thrice-DNFed cache with your streak on the line? Or would you pass it up in order to keep your streak alive?
  13. I have a couple stats sites I use. Keenpeople.com tracks my caches per day average which is currently at 1.142. cacheFlorida.com has stats on difficulty that are automatically computed. Here's my current stats: Finds: 571 caches from 2002-08-18 to 2004-01-05. Finding for 507 days. Average difficulty: 1.57, average terrain: 1.35, total difficulty: 894.5, total terrain: 773.5 So "padding my numbers" with a bunch of easy micros would lower my average difficulty and terrain. Don't wanna do that.
  14. You hit my hot button. City crime statistics like these are misleading. In my metro area, Orlando, there are as many (or more) tourists in town as there are residents. Therefore when they divide the number of crimes (against tourists and residents) by the number of residents (to get per capita) they get an inflated number. Also, crime is related to weather. When it's nice out, people are out and about and therefore there are more opportunities for criminal activity. Well, it's always nice in FL, so we have year-around crime here. Wahoo! Same argument for best cities for bicycling or pedestrian accidents. Orlando is always near the bottom since people are out biking in February (and thus having accidents, getting killed, etc.). I bet there aren't that many bikers in Buffalo in February! Arggggg
  15. Yea, I know. They're just my guidelines for whether or not I log a DNF. I'll even break my own guidelines if a DNF log will add value to the caching experience.
  16. Wouldn't it be cool if gc.com tracked DNF totals as well as find totals? Like on a user's stats page or something? I dunno, maybe not.
  17. Here are a couple ideas: 1. Allow for collapsing lists (of TBs). I really don't have interest in what TBs I found a year ago and don't think it deserves a prominent place on My Cache Page. So either the list could collapse to just show the title (e.g., "TBs That You Have Found") or go away altogether. You could also have collapsing lists for MY HIDDEN CACHES and LOGGED CACHES. 2. I don't have any interest in benchmarks either. I think it's a whole different animal. I'd like to omit it from My Cache Page. 3. List logged caches in chron order within a day. Just some ideas, not sure if they've been discussed before, but a brief forum search turned up nothing.
  18. For the sake of this discussion, here's how I define DNF: You searched for the cache and did not find it. What I think is and isn't a DNF: DNF You searched and did not find the cache You loaded the coords, drove to the location, hiked out, and ended up on the wrong side of the river and gave up You searched for the cache, found its intended location, but it was missing (sometimes a DNF is beyond your control) Not a DNF You ran out of time and didn't attempt to find the cache (no hike or hunt) You got to the location, and it was surrounded by muggles, so you decided not to look for the cache
  19. I log a ton of DNFs also. That's why my modest streak of 39 finds without a DNF is kinda special.
  20. These are very close to the airport also: Fishbowl Cache on the Beach I They are both micros.
  21. I have my longest ever streak of finds without a DNF - 39. What's your longest streak?
  22. She was for a brief period, but several have since passed her up in FL...still a remarkable achievement.
  23. From year-around shorts caching I have constant saw-palmetto scrapes. And I once got PI from a cache in So. IL.
