  1. quote::As far as I know he IS Topografix. Even better! In general, I trust more in a man of genius then companies with herds of mediocre programmers when selecting a piece of software. Until he is interested in what he's doing he is unbeatable, but when he looses interest in that area You guys provide my paycheck, so if I lose interest, I lose my shirt too... I just got back from Alaska, where I used the super-secret PocketPC software to successfully find my first Alaskan geocache! It's still not ready for beta test, but that's coming soon. Thanks to everyone who's bought ExpertGPS over the last two years! Keep up the suggestions and the support, and I'll do everything I can to keep the new features coming! -- Dan Foster TopoGrafix: GPS Software, Waypoints, and Maps http://www.topografix.com/

  4. quote:Originally posted by Baridave: I am wondering if it is possible to upload more than one route from ExpertGPS to a Magellan 315. I have made several attempts, and the software indicates the data is transferring, but the GPS unit is appears to only recieve one route (and always overwrites the Route #1 memory). The ExpertGPS folks are travelling at the moment, so I thought I'd run this by users. I'm back! Did you give each route a unique route number? If they are all #1, each one will overwrite the one before it. -- Dan Foster TopoGrafix: GPS Software, Waypoints, and Maps http://www.topografix.com/

You can verify it by going to your explorer setup connection tab and see if the "use proxy server" button is checked. If that is the case there is not much you can do about it without changing your whole configuration. http://www.xmission.com/~ddrw/geosign.gif ExpertGPS should work successfully through a proxy. I've tested it across my wireless network using a base computer as a proxy for my laptop. If you're still having trouble, contact me directly at http://www.expertgps.com/support.asp and we'll get it figured out. -- Dan Foster TopoGrafix: GPS Software, Waypoints, and Maps http://www.topografix.com/

  7. quote:Originally posted by infosponge: Now that the Meridians can move data (waypoints, tracks, routes) around in files on the SD memory card, does anyone know a good way to get ExpertGPS to read/write those files directly to the SD card if you have a card reader? It would be cool to have different waypoint "folders" and be able to use ExpertGPS to manage them. Send me some GPS data (both the.loc format and whatever file ends up on the SD card) and I'll see what I can do about writing an import/export function for ExpertGPS. http://www.expertgps.com/support.asp -- Dan Foster TopoGrafix: GPS Software, Waypoints, and Maps http://www.topografix.com/

  9. http://www.easygps.com/beta.asp fixes the EasyGPS problem. (Or, as I like to call it, the Garmin V 2.03 problem...) Direct link to the Garmin V update: http://www.garmin.com/products/gps5/download.html Changes made from version 2.03 to 2.04: Corrected lockup when processing routes that contained more than 20 via points. Improved error-checking process on saved routes. Increased max number of via points to 100. Corrected turn arrow operation on map page while navigating a TracBack route. Corrected lockup on Fuel Usage page when metric units for distance & speed is selected. -- Dan Foster TopoGrafix: GPS Software, Waypoints, and Maps http://www.topografix.com/
  10. First off, thanks to all the geocachers who have supported EasyGPS and ExpertGPS over the last year! A special thanks to those of you who have helped out by answering questions in the Groundspeak forums and on Usenet. I'll be travelling in Alaska during the next three weeks, and won't have access to the Internet for much of the time. I'll try to answer urgent e-mails when possible, but I'd like to ask your help in cutting down the number of support e-mails until I return. This forum is a great place to get help from other EasyGPS and ExpertGPS users, so you might get faster results by posting a question here. I've posted a travel schedule and some more information about how to get support at http://www.topografix.com/travel.asp Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding for the next few weeks. -- Dan Foster TopoGrafix: GPS Software, Waypoints, and Maps http://www.topografix.com/

  19. quote:Originally posted by GeoRockers: FWIW - the English character set is A->Z, a->z, 0->9, space, dash, comma, single quote, slash, exclamation point, at, octothorpe, less than, percent, caret, ampersand, greater than, left paren, right paren, plus, equal, semi-colon, and back slash. This gets deeper and deeper each time someone answers! My current understanding of the Meridian character set matches everything you said, with these two exceptions: I was told it was colon ":", not semi-colon ";". I was told the comma "," wasn't available. It seems to me that having comma available would really screw up the Magellan's NMEA output and data transfer, since comma is used as the delimiter between data fields. If there's anyone out there who can actually put a comma into a waypoint name or comment on their Meridian, please post here and get in touch with me directly at meridian@topografix.com Thanks, -- Dan Foster TopoGrafix: GPS Software, Waypoints, and Maps http://www.topografix.com/
  20. Thanks, everyone! This all started because someone told me their Meridian supported 10 character names. He rechecked this morning, and it supports 8 character names. Crisis over! I'd like to hear more about this "accepts 30 character comments, but only stores 20" behavior, if anyone can prove or disprove it by actually checking their GPS. -- Dan Foster TopoGrafix: GPS Software, Waypoints, and Maps http://www.topografix.com/

  23. Hi, I've gotten some conflicting information about the Meridian GPS series. If you've got a Meridian, could you please take a minute to answer the following five questions? I need all five answers to be useful, and please only answer if you've got the GPS in front of you to check against. Thanks! 1. What Meridian do you have? [GPS, Gold, Marine, Platinum] 2. What is the firmware version? [3.08, etc] 3. What is the maximum length of a waypoint name? [8 letters, 10 letters] 4. Can you enter lower case letters for a waypoint name? [yes, no] 5. What is the maximum length of a waypoint comment? [20 letters, 30 letters] -- Dan Foster TopoGrafix: GPS Software, Waypoints, and Maps http://www.topografix.com/
