  1. I'm from the Dallas area and came up to Madison for a government computer contract. I used to do a lot of metal detecting using a Fisher CZ-70 Pro ad never heard of Geocaching until I saw it on the news (made by CommanderUSN) up here in Madison. Metal detecting was becoming harder because it was being prohibited in more and more places and I was looking for something new. When I saw that news segment, I went out and bought a Garmin 60Csx, logged on to geocacher.com, joined and went out Geocaching. The Ham license (K2EOK) I originally got back in the 60's as a novice (WN2EOK) in New Jersey, the general exam was taken at the New York FCC field office where you had to tap out the code. I just kept the call sign and changed the address....and eventually upgraded to an Extra class (20 wpm code). I've been up here for 1/12 years now...no telling when the contract will end...and when I do go back, I have some local Geocachers here ready to adopt the caches...but until then, I'll maintain them. I just try to add to the fun.
  2. This took a while to set up, but not much activity. There is quite a bit of walking involved...and maybe that is scaring people away. Maybe it is because winter is coming and people don't want to walk around in that. I'll let it sit there as is..... It is interesting to know that if a cache was changed, you statistics would change. I figured that no matter what happened, you would get credit for what you found on the day you found it.
  3. So, if I archive it...and then re-do it, I'll have to submit it for another approval....right? Thanks, I knew I could get quick answeres here.
  4. How do you change a Multi-Cache listing to a regular cache listing? The coordinates of any of the caches would not change. The type cache is now unchangable when you try to edit it...or am I over looking something. I would like the Cacher to have a choice between doing the Cache the regular way (multi-cache numeric order) or just out for some quick finds (picking the caches he wants to get).
  5. Go Ahead....then I will at least know 1 of those users is you......lol
  6. When I look at some of the caches and Tbs I have out there, I see some that say "3 Users Watching" or "1 User watching"...Who are they? Can I see who is watching them? Just Curious.
  7. Have you tried here? http://www.geocaching.com/track/ Enter the number and then the screen changes. On the upper right side, you should be able to log it. Craig Merser Guru4Hire
  8. I just hate it when people take GeoCoins and NEVER check them out...and they Never move them along and you NEVER see them again.
  9. I Have a 60 CSX with a 1 gig card. I CAN NOT fit all of city navigator V7 on it. At the end of August, there will be V8....the "NT" version that will allow you to put the whole USA on that card. http://shop.garmin.com/cartography/mapsour...CD=010-10810-00
  10. I place micros like magnetic key holders...so they can be hidden in easier areas for Handicap people and children to find.
  11. When placing a cache...how do you get your coordiantes to be sure that you are close? I have a Garmin 60CSx and I press "Mark" and then "Average" for about 100 averages. Then I walk back to my car...turn the GPS unit off and then back on to reset it...and then follow those coordinates to see where they go. I have noticed that it varies a little...maybe that is the GPS error? I'm afraid that someone will waste time on a trip to nowhere...based on bad coordinates.
  12. I bought some Natrapel mosquito repelent that contains no DEET...but uses GERANIOL...a plant extract. Well....This Stuff Stinks. No wonder the Mosquitos stay away...I want to stay away too. My clothes stink...My whole car stinks...my house stinks....everywhere I walked I left a trail of STINK...worse than a skunk. Pros....it worked.
  13. Just Curious...what is a "LAME" cache....so I don't do "Lame" caches?
  14. Found "Leopold Legacy: January" GCKAK3 today. I walked around in circles for about 30 min...and then just happened to see it. It was about 20 feet from where my GPS60 Csx said it should be. Great exercise...I guess I'll go buy some boots and a Machete for the next find.
  15. Just got my Garmin GPSMAP 60CSx from Gander Mountain, at the mall up here in Madison, Wisconsin. It is the package that includes the Topo Cd, 64 meg memory card, carying case, PC/USB interface for $580 (including tax). I do quite a bit of treasure hunting with my metal detector (Fisher CZ-70 Pro) and decided to try something new. My wife thinks I'm nuts and hopes this GPS will find a nearby head doctor for me.........oh well Let The Ganes Begin
