This happened to my GPS Map60csx all the time...loose memory card. I finally put a 2 gig card in with a drop of glue under it. I'm not taking it out...but it is in there now.

Ok...Thanks everyone...you gave me the solution.

Just got my Palm Tx, Cachemate and GeoBuddy (makers of easy GPS).
All are working and I loaded 500 waypoints into the palm. So far so good....but how do you search by Waypoint ID?
If I go to CacheMate / Srch / Last Search, the only option I see is to search by coordinates.
I must be missing some setup parm.
-
Never mind...it is gone. It took a while for the "Mark Missing" to catch up.
-
I'll never invest in Geocoins because they get ripped off from crooks.
So, I have one that is been gone for almost a year...not checked out...or in. I've marked it missing but it still shows in inventory.
How do I get rid of it?
Just recently, 2 more Geocoins are missing too...not checked out or in.

Both replies have mentioned the PPC...
If that is the new thing...what PPC would you get?

I'm going to get a PDA for Geocaching...what do you recommend?
I was looking at a Palm TX and using Cachemate.

Ok, I was clicking on the right side instead of having it emailed.
Thanks for the help.

I did a pocket query that had 5 pages. I went to each page and selected all. Then downloaded them...but all I got was the last page.
Do you have to download each of the 5 pages and then do 5 uploads to the GPS (or put them all in 1 file using notepad...etc). Is there a way to create 1 big download?

I Always Use My ATV
-
I see posts up above where people find excitement in just going...without reading the description.
I Always read them and even use google-earth sometimes to research them. It is no excitement when you get hurt and go to the hospital or your kid gets hurt or killed.
Thats My Take...

If you read the cache description...the warning is clearly stated. I think the way this person did it is far more effective than the cache attributes. It even says "If you choose to bring children, hang on to them!".
If the cache is really easy, then the cache rating is correct...if not, then previous cache finders will usually complain or question the rating.
leave the ratings as you see them...but if there is any concerns...put them in your description where people read them...more than looking at an Icon.
That could even be an enhancement to posting a cache...a warning section that could be filled in if necessary and it could be in "RED" so everyone would see it.

***I'm just a teensy bit worried because I have two caches with danger warnings - they are on high cliffs with no fences or barriers of any kind. The caches can be retrieved perfectly safely, but you wouldn't want your 4 year old running ahead of you. Are people not seeing these warnings, and if not, what should I do?***
Many times people (Me Included) don't pay attention to the cache attributes (those Icons on the right). I usually put tips right in the cache description where it says "You won't have to walk thru the marsh"
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...b9-13c8d00c93f0
or a warning to explain the 3.5 terrain rating..."You WILL need time and have to walk some distance to complete the cache". Even this one...with a long walk... is "Kid Friendly" because it is a huge park...with a play area for them.
http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...df-83b2d4385a77
Don't take the kids on Cliff Hangers...there are plenty of easy caches in parks that are great for kids.
Pick the low terrain and difficulty ratings with the kids. You and them will enjoy them more without worrying.

The last time I worked with "Lead" was in the 60's using an old LinoType machine for printing. That lead bar hung in a melting pot and cooked all day.

It would seem to me that at this point the question has been asked and answered. This thread is becoming a performance issue instead of a hardware issue. Perhaps its time to close this one and move the chat to the pinned thread about site speed.
OK....I saw some answers through the thread...Thanks.

In Google Earth, if you have the "Geocaching Network KML" box checked (in "Places" bottom left) and the "Geocache name (Difficulty / Terrain)" box checked ... you will see under that, the number of views you have left for that day. I think it starts off with 200 views.
You can uncheck those boxes and still enter coordinates at the top for a particular cache.

***My willingness to be a volunteer for GeoGoogle would evaporate immediately. I suspect that many other volunteers would feel the same way. Without our work, caches would get listed in off-limits nature preserves, or without a permit in parks that require one. Maintenance problems would go unaddressed. ***
Remember, this has grown to a worldwide hobby / sport and maybe Geocaching has already grown beyond a hobby system...and needs the real power of "GeoGoogle's" mega-system to meet future needs...like 1000's of Geocacher connections at once...with their hardware / software engineers right there to address problems.
There are many experienced Geocachers out there and if you / they stopped being a volunteer, I am sure there would be others to fill your shoes. I see people asking on the boards many times on how to become a volunteer.
I am sure that some of you have begun at the start of this hobby / sport...but it seems odd that you / they would be unwilling to see it's success at possibly another level.
Also, $30 bucks is $30 bucks whether I pay Geocaching.com or "GeoGoogle" ... it is still $30 bucks.
If Geocaching.com is bought out in the future, maybe the current staff can go as a package deal to over see this hobby / sport...and have programmers at their fingertips to fix and add features.
Sometimes people resist change...And I can be accused of that myself.

Yes...I went to place a cache and there were SWARMS of mosquitos there...just waiting.
Geocaching is supposed to be fun...not torture. I moved the cache.

***Elitist attitudes disgust me.... and seeing that kind of attitude grow here is even worse. This isn't an exclusivity club where someone can be kicked out for not being a paying customer. If you truly want that, go to that aother service where you have to be sponsored in.***
Wow...what a sad person you must be. Better take your meds to calm down...Hahahahahahaa

Dane County in Wisconsin (Madison Area) charges $10 for a "Special Use" permit. I have 3 permits ($30 for math majors).
However, a multi-cache is still $10...they don't charge $10 for each stage....just $10 total.
