  1. I just went through them all with my husband and I think he decided to keep more than originally planned but we still have some awesome ones. Just deciding how to sell them off.

So............. we have the full set (8) UNACTIVATED THX4TC Jeep geocoins. They are all different colors and one of our favorites. I can't ever find them for sale. Should I put them up for sale in one lot or individually?

It may be more work but I think you would get more in total if you sell them individually. Speaking personally I could probably afford one or maybe two but no way could I afford to buy all 8 at once.

I tend to agree that it would be more work but more people would want to buy 1 or 2 than the whole lot. More people would benefit too if I broke them up.

  3. Hello everybody!

My husband and I were into geocaching from 2005-2008ish and my husband bough HUNDREDS of geocoins that he liked. Our favorites we activated but just put in a collectors book. We do have lots of unactivated ones though. I think it's time to sell them though and would like advice. I know it used to be taboo to sell them on Ebay but it looks like the rules have changed a little since I was last on here. I can't even find most of the ones we own for sale because they are so old and rare like:

    United we cache

    Which one today top

International bank of cachers credit card geocoin

    Original Jeep geocoins

I know we have some pretty awesome stuff but where do I start to find their value?

Also, I'm guessing the activated ones wouldn't go for as much so should I even bother selling those? I know they can be adopted but does that detract from their value? Thanks for any and all help!

  4. I came across a certain cache online we found a while ago and noticed it was inactive. I clicked on the cache page a was suprised at what I found. here are the logs: (read from bottom up)

Not there. I am not going to claim a find, when I didn't find it

No plaque, no marker, just moisture and muck from the weather... Do you think it will be replaced after all is said or done?

We went to the park today to find this cache and the Purple Turtle. We found where the plaque should be, hopefully after the construction is complete they will put it back. I will mark this as didn't find if requested by the owner.

I agree with everyone else. I visited this one several weeks ago and went back yesterday and moved the mud around. It appears like the plaque has been removed.

We debated what to do with this, mark as found, or mark as didn't find..... We got to the location, no problem, and this is what we found (see pic). We almost wanted to sign in at the construction mailbox If you want us to mark it as a didn't find, let us know. THANKS

  5. If you have google earth, and type in area 51 it will take you right to it. We have a geocaching network that shows us all the geocaches- anywhere in the world (can't remember how we did it but we did) It shows plenty of geocaches there.

  6. I wouldn't just because of the goatheads! Those things are so nasty- I know because I found some in my yard with bare feet! I only took two steps and had 20 in each foot! We did a cache by our house with shoes on and spent 10 minutes pulling out those stickers from our shoes. True Wal-mart part of it doesn't sound fun but the goatheads are evil. Any geocache with goatheads should be at least a 3 terrain!

  7. Still, after 5 months...no coin!!! I can't beleive he never sent my coin, I was even on the original list...Groundspeak with hear about this one, unless he comes through on his word. If you can't get me my coin...then send me a refund! I am very disappointed!

  8. We think it should be a mystery. We came across one like this in our neck of the woods that was just listed as traditional and most people said in the log it should either be a multi or mystery. People have to know how to use the bearing/distance in order to get to the cache, so therefore, we say mystery.

  9. My opinion would be to disable it.

1.The majority of the logs say something about it being unsafe with the type of muggles that hang around.

2.Plus, some people just have the coords and the name of the cache in the GPS and try to just grab it while passing by.

3.Think of how bad you would feel if somebody got hurt doing this cache.

    4. It doesn't sound like it's a place that you really want people to see or enjoy.

    Just my opinion.

  10. Happy Birthday.... here's a good clean joke:

Sally Black, a local loan officer, was having a slow day at the office until a frog came in for a loan. They started filling out the paperwork needed and they soon came to the collateral section.

"Do you have any collateral?" Asked Sally

The frog slowly pulled out an old statue. Sally just stared for a moment and then asked the frog to wait a moment while she asked her boss about his "collateral" Sally quickly explained the situation to her boss, to which he replied "It's a knick-knack, Sally Black. Give the Frog a loan"

    tehe.......

  11. If you want some Extreme Caching, search for caches that have a Terrain rating of 4.5 or 5. There are many on this Site that will provide you with an "Extreme caching" challenge, without jeapordizing our Activity the way your idea will.

I think what you propose is a very bad idea.

    Ditto

  12. Sounds like some good advice to live by...I'm still waiting for my coin as well and I was on that first list of those who were suppose to get theirs pretty darn quick. I'm sorry for the setback, I don't know if I'll ever get this coin, but I would hope that he eventually gets them all out and doesn't lose any in the process

  13. OK here's the deal. There has been this Virtual cache near us (GC303F) that the idea is to recover all the benchmarks here in Utah and once you find the benchmark nearest to you, you upload the photo and log it as a cache (and a benchmark in this case)

My question is are there any other caches like this that you don't actually have to be at the listed location to log. This particular one anybody in Utah could log it if they just do the requirements. That would be awesome if there were caches in another state that you just have to do a requirement and you could log it. The point of this post is not to get more "easy" caches. I think it appeals to us for two reasons: you would get a cache in another state, and two you would have to go out and find something or do something new.

This might have been a one of a kind cache, but let's just find out.

Note: I just saw on a description of a Virtual that you actually have to visit the place. Don't know how it got approved then. I also searched for NGS benchmark and there are a few other states that are doing something like this cache also.

  14. So what if a cache in my area has been disabled for over a year? (not do to closure but due to the fact they just never got it up and running) Can I report those somewhere? I understand being busy but for a year??

You could post a needs archived. If the owner is active, you may want to sent them a note (or post a note on the cache page) asking for the status of the cache, first. If you aren't sure about a "needs archived," you could also send an email to the reviewer who published the cache, asking them to take a look at it.

Thanks, I didn't know that was an option!
