  2. Tooey, Thanks for the coin, I got it today, and had actually forgotten that I posted in this cointest. I looked at the coin, my memory was jogged, and I came back and found the post. When I reread the info, I asked my daughter where the coin was (since I did show it off of course). She gave me the envelope, I said catch, and tossed the coin to her, she caught it, looked at me kinda strange (you know the way teenagers look at their parents). I told her it was hers, and she went huhhh??? I reminded her of the cointest, and she started jumping up and down saying "I gotta coiin, I gotta coiin" Thanks again, it was totally unexpected, yet greatly appreciated. the brewmeister (and happy kid)

  5. Today I got the hearts coin I won off of ebay, proceeds go to cystic fibrosis. I also got the Yemon Yime, the 100 and 250 cache finds, a Boy Scout coin, the Army Geocoin, the Quadrant coin (okay that one isn't really a coin it is too big) and the Indian Moon. this should be all for a while, as I must define what I want my collection to be.
  6. Colorado, that I have had no problems with. It was an upgrade from the Legend cX and the price was right $289.00 (yes it was a pricing error, but that is what the price was, so I got it for that price).
  7. Tup - yup the coins are pre-activited. I suppose that one could keep it - it was paid for after all, I also suppose that some people will steal these coins from caches (yup I said it). True you are not supposed to put out coins if you are not prepared to lose them, however the point of these coins is to maintain awareness of those Americans that died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Some might read the profile online, and be moved to to something to help out Soldiers who might not have been otherwise. Just a thought
  8. Got mine today, will try to place it in a cache this weekend the brewmeister
  9. While I had thought of many beautiful natural places I had been to, when I asked my daughter about it, she said that she remembered one place in Germany. So I told her to write about it. The following is her story... We, my dad and I, went to Stuttgart Germany for a nice day-trip, and of course we had to catch a few geocaches there as well. So we decided to do a few in a forest in Stuttgart, only one of the numerous forests filled with caches all over Germany. It was a nice little walk, and I enjoyed the scenery, but at first it was only another forest expedition in spring-nice, but nothing truly special. But when we stopped to look for the cache, that was when I saw something truly extraordinary. Two of the roots of a tree, an oak perhaps, had curved around to form a bowl shape, filled with earth and covered in a layer of thick, brightly green moss. Seemingly spilling from within the tree was more moss, looking just like a tiny, faery waterfall, frozen with moss. Not only that, but a tree, just a tiny twig of a tree, with a few small, vivid spring-green leaves, sprouted from the moss close to the edge of the little basin. It was beautiful, as only nature can be, and how I wished one of us had a camera to take a picture. I could have spent ages there, staring at the ‘waterfall’ with its elfin tree in the root-bowl, trying to draw it, and any photographs definitely would have been framed and set on my bookshelf. That sight just made me stop and think about how gorgeous Earth’s phenomenon’s can be. There was only one bad part about the forest expedition: we never did find the cache. If this story is the lucky winner, I will give her the coin. the brewmeister and kid
  10. The government uses cell phone blockers regularly. I know this because when I was in the Army in Europe the Frequency Managers were going through the process of getting some approved by the German government. They are also used (probably with permission of the FCC) in, as was mentioned earlier, sensitive areas (banks, research facilities, etc) where use of a cell phone is prohibited, yet is difficult to control who brings cell phones into the facility. While it would be nice to block cell phones in movie theaters, restaurants, etc, it is not practical to do so. just a thought
  11. I found a cache in Germany that contained partial ashes of someones father. The ashes were in a small container similar to what the small caches look like. This TB had traveled far and wide as that is what the father liked to do. There was no way of knowing what was in the TB and there was no mention of ashes on the TB page itself. Once I read the TB description I figured out what it was, but for the individual who wouldn't want his children to see ashes, you would have no worry about it. I also think that the bug would travel far, while there are those who keep bugs, I think this one might make its destination. I would suggest that you take a portion of the ashes, put them into a sealable small metal tube, attach the bug and send your pet enroute. I would also send the larger urn via mail so your pet could receive a burial in Maine. Just a thought
  12. e-mail sent. Sorry to hear that you don't have the time for caching, and are off loading all of your coins. It is a grand way to go about it. thanks the brewmeister
  13. Having recently caught the coin bug (without the money to get properly treated), there are many coins I would like, however, they are all either military, nature, mythological, or state related. There might be a few more topics, but I am not sure right now. For state related I only really want a coin for each state (well country also and perhaps foreign city) that I have been to. I haven't looked around very much yet for all the coins that are out there. I have ordered a few coins and received some or what I have ordered. Time will tell what coins I am able to acquire.
  14. No pictures to post (mostly because I am lazy and don't make the effort to take the picture, save to pc, and post here). However........ Not today, but yesterday I received the Military Association of Geocachers coin. I think it looks pretty cool (being retired military myself) and can relate to the design. I am waiting on a heart coin I won on e-bay (I bid to help out with I think leukemia - or something along those lines), a small hand full of coins from Coins and Pins (including the latest Yemon Yime), and the geological coin from the research company in Texas (I don't remember the name) Hopefully I will be seeing the coins soon.

  21. Always be aware of your environment, that which is behind, on either side, and in front of you. I say this as both a rider, and a driver. I have been victim of not abiding by the above rule...... I have never hit anyone, yet scared myself, then berating myself for not paying attention to my surroundings. keep the shiny side up... the brewmeister
