  1. One of the many reasons that they disappearing is many I've seen no longer have a webcam and cachers are just using selfies instead. How are these real Webcams anymore.
  2. I usually reboot program. If it comes back contact GSAK forum.
  3. I agree it's frustrating trying to view souvenirs and they aren't in order by the date you acquired them.
  4. Also use virtual stages as they last longer then physical as they may go missing and frustrate finders.
  5. Not sure if I said this. I have a lot of pet peeves. Lately on caches over 40ft from posted coords, sometimes over 100ft. Why cachers don't look at the map to see if it is correct or have someone ( a friend) beta test it with a gps and smartphone. I know because I had cachers after me when I first started. I use a Garmin now and triple check and check a map before releasing it. .
  6. Yes niraD and I know who was the first to create a cache from a blinkie. She is from our area. Just look up this. world famous joanie cache
  7. Even if you post This cache is not at the Posted Coordinates Does not mean cachers would read the cache page. Had a newbie try to log a find on one of my puzzles saying he couldn't find it. Why he logged something that he didn't find. He said it was missing. I asked him did he look in the tree. What tree? Then I knew he didn't solve the puzzle and was looking at the posted coords.
  8. Had a cacher point one out while was in the field. I had to fix it and gave a good friend my password and asked them to change it. Had parking coords also be way off. I try looking at my puzzles different ways. Would you believe I had one I created only to have (not blaming) a reviewer release it before I was ready with the final coords visible. Had to recreate a new puzzle.
  9. caches on route. I usually figure out my route then use this and if you load them in your gps or smartphone.
  10. lost the link to the gif file on that. It was linked to the dreaded Photobucket
  11. I get frustrated even if it is someone I know thinking it's missing or ask a previous finder not knowing or asking if maybe I moved it or changed it. When difficult ones all of the sudden become too easy. I just replaced one today that someone put a throwdown.
  12. The other way they get the codes is guessing. They find just one and change the numbers and doing a hit a miss. When they find one they list it. I have had some of mine that have gone missing for over 10 years and pop up on a list.
  13. I believe I bring this up everything it has been brought up. I started in May of 2006, and adopted a few caches maybe a month after to have practice owning some. Most are still active. Then I placed one in SF 2 months after I started with between 50 and 75 finds. That cache is still active with over 703 finds on it. So it all depends on if you read the guidelines and do a little practice then you should be fine. It's just you have to imagine is this going to be able to do for a long time. Yes I have an example(s) A few cachers in our area got excited about caching and put of lots of hides, then out of the blue they up and quit. Who cleans up the mess?
  14. I would call them poor as they are great for newbies. I just would call them lame. Except when it is to hide a puzzle. I hate solving a difficult puzzle and hide is almost harder then the puzzle.
  15. We do it too. But we try to list all in the group so you can see who was there.
  16. I don't post NA unless the CO is not responding to DNFs and/NM. CO's job should be to respond even if the cache is still there. I sometimes email directly to the cacher to see if they searched the right area. If they did I will check it. And yes it depends on the difficulty. NA is not extreme, it draws attention and just gets the reviewer involved to deal with what CO is not doing which is have them check it, fix it or archive it.
  17. I have an added suggestion is to have these types of caches have the COs post on their cache page they have gotten permission to place a cache in/on the Library. Since in most of these they are on private property. Even if they own the LFL themselves.
  18. I agree it should go away after you read it or responded. But I still get the yellow circle.
  19. I prefer to just write a note instead of a DNF because it gives the CO the impression the cache has an issue til they read you log. Still wish they had a Did not Try Did Not Find is still not did not find, in the purest sense of the words. DNF's still bother you for as long as you've been around? strange you pick me to say that when I can read other posts from others who feel the same way.
  20. That pesky first GPS Stash cache placed should have never been allowed!! Funny how the cache that started it all would have people complaining it is against the rules. Good thing you all weren't involved back then. Though that one started it all it was practically what started the NO BURY rule along with others like Beaver. But they show how that if every one was allowed to bury a cache there would be hole dug everywhere. The old ones are grandfathers but they just give an example on what not to.
  21. Seen more events in my area like Kanchan's and others but most of them I can't go because they are held doing the work week and I worry I would be late to work, plus they are a little far even though they are basically close.
  22. I prefer to just write a note instead of a DNF because it gives the CO the impression the cache has an issue til they read you log. Still wish they had a Did not Try
  23. I made a new bookmark list and I can't see it when I try to add a cache to it. So I tried creating a new list in the list box (different name) and that is not showing up. In fact many of my lists are not showing up. Is there a limit on how many lists you can have? Also I am still wondering on the new List page where is Favorites and Watchlist? I have to keep going back to old page to view them.
  24. Not sure about other areas but in my area a Free Library can cost the home owner in permit costs. I've heard some pay $600 to have one in their yard. Why am I talking about this? I've seen cachers put caches in these libraries. But did they get permission from those who owned them? These are on private property and just because they tell people they exchange books doesn't mean they want someone to put a cache in their Library. There is one in Berkeley and someone put a cache in it. The cache went missing, the CO disabled it, recently they enabled it and it went missing again. I wrote to the CO and asked them if this was their Free Library, and if not did they ask permission to place a cache there, if not maybe they could ask the owner if it is okay to put a cache there. This maybe why the cache keeps going missing. I never got a response back.
