  1. I hope the next time the discussion of hiding caches while on vacation come up somebody Markwells this thread. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  2. I think we have something like 20% multicaches around this area. (Portland, OR) Or at least more than many other places do. I don't know why, but the only cache I placed was a multi because if you went right to it, you would miss some of the park it's in or miss the park all together. It's an easy walk anyway. I do agree it can be frustrating that you can spend a long time doing one multi or several singles and the multi still only counts as one (ya, ya, we aren't supposed to keep score), but they say that's why there is variety. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  3. We use the windows imaging program and reduce the resolution. Quick, easy and the pictures turn out well. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  4. I remember a news story where they were reporting that some news companies were upset that other sites had links to their stories, but it was stated that a link can't be restricted since all it really is saying is look at this public information. I would have to think a web address is the same thing as long as you aren't making money from it. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  5. I'm guessing if you're posting here you already have a GPSr of some sort. If not, we use a palm m130 with a Navman add-on GPSr. Works great and you get a larger screen than any other hand held unit and it's in colour. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  6. Well, yes that would fix this problem. I would also go to it several times a year to restock trade items and keep up with the logs. I just happened to be checking on caches I have visited in the past and saw this. If someone were to ask if it was still there because they couldn't find it I have a feeling nobody would get that message. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  7. I sent an email to a cache owner who never responded to a log stating they need a new log book in the cache. I noticed this is his only cache and he has no finds, and the cache was placed almost 2 years ago. I figured he wasn't active anymore and sent an email offering to take over the cache if that was true. I got no reply. Does admin. transfer ownership if they can't make contact? ---Real men cache in shorts.
  8. For some reason about 2 months ago my finds stopped being logged. I found from Dan that somehow geocaching.com changed the way the logs were displayed. We used to have logs listed under "sprecher" which I think is our login name. Now they are under "Nurse Dave and LKay" which is our profile name. Now every time we do I cache it lists it under "sprecher" but whenever it regenerates the info for that cache it changes it to "Nurse Dave and LKay". So after I log a cache I go to his missing cache page and have it reload that cache I just did. Kind of a weird way to do it, but it works. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  9. When I tell people about geocaching many ask where the challange is if the GPS tells you right where it is. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  10. Classy Cache ---Real men cache in shorts.
  11. It isn't there. I have to place it somewhere today. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  12. I bet we could talk UMC into polinating everything that needs get, then we get rid of the yellow jackets. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  13. Hey, you guys hear about a new thread around here? ---Real men cache in shorts.
  14. The wheresgeorge.com FAQ says they don't sell the stamps anymore. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  15. I was looking into making an Oregon geocaching coin and all that stuff about copyrights played out. During that time I asked geocaching.com a question and was told they would have a logo make in a couple of days. Then in a forum it was posted geocaching.com would make a die available for use with the new logo on it. I sent an email asking if it had been done yet and I haven't heard anything about it. That was over a month ago. There is no update on the logo use page about making coins. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  16. There was already a discussion about a Halloween cache was rejected that somebody wanted to put by the front door if I remember right. And that would have been open to anybody that wanted to go visit that guy. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  17. Just after I posted, two of the double finds on that cache disappeared. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  18. In There is no substitute for Victory cache listed in the first message, 3 of the 4 people that found it logged a find for the first waypoint and a find for the final. What's with that? Dang, I need to go back and add to my logs. I think the NW is king of the multistage caches, that would add to my numbers greatly. The cache placers should be monitoring this. If they want it counted as two finds, it needs to be two different caches and the coordinates for the second are found at the first. I do think it's fair to log one find with as many virtuals as it applies to. You are only counting each cache once, and somebody else could use the thing you found for any of the others if you didn't. "Finding" your own cache? Just silly, it's already counted in your numbers as a cache placed. One cache, one count I say. The moving cache does sound like a different beast though. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  19. Don't know if they are mostly the same, I have a navman that clips onto the back of our palmpilot. Unless we are driving under tall trees it keeps a great lock being mounted on the windshield. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  20. I wrap the antenna in tinfoil and put my finger here then I usually am accurate to 2'. Now for my next trick. Hey Bob, get you finger out of my nose. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  21. I read the logs people have posted. I find I get a better idea of what to expect if it's a harder cache. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  22. I don't think I'd vacation in an area that is geocacheless anymore. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  23. In the NW we'd have to not cache for 6 months. NW cachin' ---Real men cache in shorts.
  24. Ya, him too. Current world version. ---Real men cache in shorts.
