Some geocaches are also letterboxes and I know owners have had problems with people taking the stamp thinking it was a trade item. Ummmmm, ya. It was a piece of paper with a print on it 4"x6". ---Real men cache in shorts.
  2. Why not. I bet you would trade up in your own cache. I tried to once. There is a cacher here that has radioactive marbles for a sig item. I had just placed the cache and the first finder told me the coordinates where off. I went back to check the coordinates and also brought some stuff to trade for the marble that was there. Got there too late for the marble, but left my stuff. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  3. I think the coolest thing I ever found was a wood block print with the same title of the cache. There is also a cacher here that leaves silver ounces. Very cool when you hit a cache after he's been there. We have a few glass fused tiles that are the geocaching logo, and also leave marble balls with a little display stand and new pocket knives. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  4. Man! How do you trade up that? ---Real men cache in shorts.
  5. It seems that most multicaches are done within an area where you can walk from one point to another. If you just solve any multi that starts in the park you want to put it in, I would think that would be almost 100% sure to show you if there are any close caches. If you want to solve every multi cache then you would be my hero, but I think my idea is a little more realistic and not out of line to ask a placer to do as part of the area research for a new cache. But, I'm sure you visit any caches in the general area you are going to put one in so I'm not telling you anything you don't know. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  6. Ya, what they said. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  7. Just a thought. Every time people are in an organized large search for something (like the shuttle), there will be a newbie that asks if there are any geocachers helping or that we should help. Then there is a reply pointing out that we already have the coordinates and then look for a cache and these searches are the other way around. Let me just point this out here. I have done a few locationless and don't really care if they are around or not, but I do have to say most of them don't require much thought on the placers part. But, they are THE OPPOSITE of geocaching. Another page, another site, which ever I don't care, but I haven't read any arguments other than "I like to do them" as to why they need to be with the geocaches. ---Real men cache in shorts.

  9. I'm not into micros so I haven't found many, but I do look if they are near and there aren't any ammo boxes around. I have even hidden one to lead to a regular cache. My beef is that people still try to squish a log book in those things. It ends up being a moist lump of loose scraps of paper. I just leave my calling card or nothing at those. Also, anything is better than a virtual. To me that says, "Hey go stand here. Good job". ---Real men cache in shorts.
  10. Hey, they got in just before the stoppage of locationless caches. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  11. Hmmm, another mapquest. No pee here. ---Real men cache in shorts.

Well, I guess I would send that back to Jeremy with the geocaching warranty and ask what he can do for you. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  13. I was told I was one once. ---Real men cache in shorts.

  15. I have done a few, but they are the OPPOSITE of geocaching. Instead of getting the coordinates to find a place, you find the place and then let everyone else know where it is, but then there is no reason for them to go there. I say at least its own category if not site. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  16. My opinions are usually pretty picky about stuff like this, but I think it's fine. It was nothing to do with actually finding the cache and people don't have to give you any information if they don't want your mug. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  17. all done with a palm GPS add-on. No they are not rugged, but then I'm aware of that. If I'm walking somewhere that requires two hands, the GPS goes in my pocket. Nobody here can tell you they don't care if they drop their GPSr. I agree a stand alone GPS is more rugged, but accidents happen with either one and with either one you can't act like a moron and expect it to last. We use the Navman add-on for the palm and yes, the large colour screen rocks! ---Real men cache in shorts.
  18. Dang! Gotta go visit Mr. Snazz! ---Real men cache in shorts.
  19. I think the ones that were logged twice was a nice touch. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  20. At least once a month there is a post about a cache showing a good reason to not leave one that you can't return to in a short time. What is this wasn't approved. There would be a box of trash sitting out there. When somebody thinks it's stolen it's not going to be the cache owner going out to check if it's still there. The cache owner won't be around to replace a full log book. I know other people can do some of these things, but I don't think a cache should be placed where other people HAVE to do these things. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  21. The only thing I see wrong is the pictures aren't showing up. But when you click on where the map should be the link to mapquest is fine. ---Real men cache in shorts.
