  2. Whew! It's a good thing you created a new thread to let us know that. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  3. It states that they would like to hear the ideas, not that they would like all the ideas. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  4. I thought since the dang forums won't get you to a page where you can e-mail somebody, I'd better post mine here. raven_in_the_snow@juno.com ---Real men cache in shorts.
  5. I'd work with another cacher on it, but I wouldn't sit on a phone while they are looking behind the forth tree or trying to get a lock on. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  6. I'm leading the project to get an Oregon geocoin made and they are making the samples now. I'm looking for somebody that would be interested in trade a couple of the Texas coins for a couple of our. Just email me. --Dave ---Real men cache in shorts.
  7. I just think they look ugly. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  8. Hey, since it's designed and you know when you will ship it, when can we order them? ---Real men cache in shorts.
  9. I doesn't sound like a big deal, but it also sounds pretty much like a virtual cache. The only difference being you are place the item you want people to find. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  10. Hey, you get them done next week we could distrubute them with the Oregon geocoin comming out in a few weeks. ---Real men cache in shorts.

  12. I have one I posted 5 days ago and have heard nothing yet!! ---Real men cache in shorts.
  13. quote:Originally posted by Mr. Snazz:I will have the tracking system online at http://www.cogeo.org for the coins by Sunday evening, so if you get a coin with a serial number on it, people will be able to post notes online using the number as a reference. Who da man!!! ---Real men cache in shorts.
  14. Inside the restaurant? Too commercial and not coffee table book worthy I would think. Outside? Is it really coffee table book worth, why not hide a regular cache? ---Real men cache in shorts.
  15. First I was thinking I'd agree with Radman, but then I got to thinking about problems that occur with new caches. Sometimes they are posted with coordinates that are pretty far off and the hider has to go recheck with a few days of hinding it. It would also have to be disabled any time people report it missing or wet etc. until you would be going back. But it's better than not being able to go back at all. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  16. The extreme moving cache or Cache Keep-Away ---Real men cache in shorts.
  17. Link doesn't work ---Real men cache in shorts.
  18. I just put one in a cache a few hours ago, then come home and read this. I only read the FAQ when I first started. If you want people to know that something was added to them I think you need to post it here too. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  19. Actually the navman does do averaging, I use one. But I still average on my own like logscaler said. I punch in the coordinates I got, walk away and then follow my GPS. If it doesn't point me right to the cache, I get another reading and try again. Once I get a few that point pretty close, I average those. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  20. I think doing an offset is a good solution or you could just have very good hints. I wouldn't lose a good cache location because of this, there are ways to make it work. --Dave ---Real men cache in shorts.
  21. I agree, don't find his caches anymore. There is a cacher around here getting known for just sloopy (inaccurate) coordinates and unnecessary bushwacking in parks and some people are avoid their caches now. The more and more people that do will eventally send a signal to people like this. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  22. quote:Originally posted by Smiley & Co.: Since the issue of maintainability doesn't exist with landarks, a virtual cache should work for those remote places. Some rock formation or a great view aren't going to require maintenance... Adi Right, and now you are on to a different topic. Virtuals shouldn't be placed or approved if there is the ability to place a regular cache there. Have you really spent so much time placing caches where you can maintain them that you need to be looking at other areas you can't? ---Real men cache in shorts.
  23. quote:So if I get to travel to some remote area on business without a schedule to return or means to return for the sole purpose of maintaining a cache I shouldn't place a cache? I am not encroaching on anyones turf. On the contrary, I might get a local hooked on GeoCaching or provide some GeoCaching opportunity for another traveller. Ya, but you also aren't going to be responible for that cache either. Geocaching isn't only about dropping a box somewhere and posting the coordinates. You are also expected to be able to replace a full log book, check to see if the coordinates are off, or see if it's missing when a few people don't find it. ---Real men cache in shorts.
  24. quote:Originally posted by nincehelser:...that probably means you should make the difficulty a five, since it requires special equipment. Which rating would you make a 5???? Physical location? Not just because you need to bring a camera. Difficulty? No, beause if you read the suggested rating scale that is for how hard it is to find the cache, not log it. It should just be noted you need a camera to log a find. Easy enough. Just beause you might have to ask a friend to borrow a camera doesn't change any of the difficulty ratings. ---Real men cache in shorts.
