  1. WOW a 1000+ cacher hit every thing in sight here in Chicago and then some. My watch list went crazy. Nice going JoGPS. What brought you to town?
  2. In the cross country driving trip we did in September I was courious to see how the speed on my GPSV woudlrelate to the speedo in my '02 Envoy. I was surprized to find they matched exactly. I was expecting one or the other to be off. They also have matched the radar speed displays we have passed.

  6. Here are Markwell's Shaggy and Scooby-doo (pre travelbugs) trecking across America with 25 photos, including the famous "Escape from the evil Dr. Sheep" Shaggy & Scooby do America
  7. So, the moment you lay eyes on the cache container, what goes though your head: -Just courious.
  8. Oh, and a nice new one thats out by the airport: Love that Dirty Water
  9. Well, if your looking for regular caches, right downtown is In the Mag Mile News I have been meaning to get that myself when im down there. Other regular ones that I have hit are basicly north of the loop. Da Windy Begal is handy if you in the Lincoln park area. It can be a stumper if you dont pay attention to the description. Farther north are 2 of mine: In the Centaur of No Where; 2 for 1 Sale and Centaur of the Bridge and continuing along the river farther north is Watchoutlook where its not all that far from Behind Neighborhood History and then farther north and west are North Branch Cache and Harms Woods Will take a car, but thats what I know of in the northernly area heading out from downtown.

It contains what they then at the time called: A Call Control Unit. This was the 2 foot by 1 foot by 6 inch heavy gauge metal box that was the 110 baud modem. Spookyer still was the last time I plugged it in it still worked. (kinda) Dont get me started on "the old days" or ill tell you about highschool and the old mainframe they had that stopped working one day because the fanbelt broke... True!
  11. Here in chicago there are no hydrant markers... Dont need them. When the hydrants get buried in snow we send out the over-paid not-what-you-know-its-who-you-know CITY WORKERS to poke about and uncover them. Who needs markers ?
  12. You just push the Image button and put the full URL to the image in there... Looks like this:
  13. Where in chicago land were you going to be? You can check out the chicago cachers favorite caches at: http://www.chicagogeocaching.com/favs/tally.cgi Enjoy!
  14. Check out these cache pages... Butter & Nuts On the Tip of your "LIPP" Not a Rookie, but a "Veteran" These are all 3 placed by the special events director of the Crystal Lake Park District, just outside of Chicago. You might contact them user: CLPD) and get some info to help you.

    Heheheheh

Just coming up to speed on this all. So thats what the references, here and there, to a "Mitsuko" were about. Reminds me of one of the very first "other identity" bru-ha-ha back in my Compu$erve days in the 80's. Great travel bug! Now that I know the background.
  16. Kudos to all the admins here.. A well designed and maintained site. Makes it a pleasure to Geocache. And kudos to all who answer questions on the boards and keep the community cooking! Great thread.
  17. Along the lines of the topic - Do You Remeber? I thought the next logical question might be: Do you leave in another cache what you have taken from a previous one? Or do you keep everything you have ever taken and leave only other things you come up with. Or a combination of the 2? I find that only rarely will I put into another cache things I have found from previous caches. Once in a while I do, but for the most part all the goodies I have found wind up in a show-off box (not that I have shown it off yet). So there you go, what do you do with your booty? 18. ...without a GPS. Did it with maps and clues. At this first one (Grackle Spackle) i did not take anything but I did add a black hair band and a white plastic fork, along with 10 cents. It was just a ziplock bag hidden in some bushes. At my first find with my GPS (Trinkets to Go) I took a 1998 Area Code Handbook and a tiny bottle of Tabasco sauce. Left $1US and a ticket stub to the movie Signs. For some reason I seem to be into leaving cash at the cache.
  19. quote:Originally posted by geospotter:Guys, The SMPREP.EXE is packaged with many readers. Check your installation CD to see if it's there. It was not with mine, but i have dowloaded a couple sets of others drivers that include it. Now ill have to see if i can get the new drivers to talk to the box i have, and then see if SMPREP.EXE will work from there. I think ill wait till the weekend though, when I have more time to play. Thanks!
  20. quote:Originally posted by geospotter:Centaur, How are you currently downloading your images from your camera? Does the 700 attach as a new drive through a USB cable? If not, the ZIO mentioned does, it only costs about $25 and makes downloading a breeze. Yes, the 700 mounts as a disk drive via the USB port. I also have a No-Name-Brand usb smartmedia/stick reader. Only problem now is I have to find a copy of the hack program that will work with my reader. Thanks!
  21. Well, I found the hack HERE but it takes hardware I dont have.... Hmmmm....
  22. .. after all the slogging through mud and muck to get them, and then driving them cross country on vacation... I will be seriously PISSED. Not to take away from Markwell, who will be just as brokenhearted im sure if they dont get rescued. What kind of leaves travelbugs outside of caches? Its just w r o n g. I hope they get rescued quick and are shown a good time in lovely california!
