  1. I'm guessing it is a fairly "complicated" animal so I'll go with a Duck-billed Platypus? It not the Duck-billed platypus, although interestingly there have been suggestions and proposals to sequence its genome to see how it differs and how it is similar to more usual mammals. The proposal can be found here.
  2. Is this just animals or do plants count? Not sure I know in any case but I do know it is not homo-sapiens since the amount of DNA does not correspond to complexity, Helen Plants are species too just to clarify this question, I am after the organism with the largest genome rather than the absolute amount of DNA per cell.
  3. We'll try to take some good ones over the summer for you It was a nice surprise to find our butterfly on this years one!
  4. One scottish forum is at: http://geox.easyphpbb.com/index.php I would definitely get one again - any chance of making them nice and glossy this year with higher resolution pictures?
  5. Thanks - I was lucky on that one as at first glance I thought it was Michael Caine on the right! Ok - which species is thought to contain the most DNA per cell?
  6. The Wicker Man, as they both played the lead in the original and the remake!
  7. I'm on the list! Will check with Ms Chizu tonight before adding her too.
  8. If arrows count as an aerial attack, I'll go for 1066 at the battle of Hastings!
  9. That is totally out of order - it is for the cache owner and noone else to move the cache!!!! Anyway how can it be in a different place but with the same coordinates? I get the feeling the mover is having a laugh....
  10. If you think there is a dangerous cache, you can always drop a note to a either the cache owner or a reviewer about it. If you think it's really dangerous and have had no response from the cache owner you can log a "should be archived" (SBA) note on the cache which the reviewers will see. And welcome to yet another Edinburgh cacher!
  11. That'll be a DING Nediam - ever since the US refused to hand back Guantanamo Bay after the lease ran out in the 1960s (and the US refused to remove themselves from the location), Cuba has flown its flag a few inches below the full flagpole height. They will only fly it at the top of the flagpole, they say, when the US pull out.
  12. Given that the flag is still flown like that Forester, any with a past grievance but not a current one could have been discounted. Marty you're right with Cuba any guess why?
  13. Not Iraq but it is a country that isn't very fond of the US.
  14. Not Nepal. They fly their flag lower due to something the Americans have done and still are doing.
  15. its not flown half mast just a few inches below the top of the flagpole. It's not France
  16. Whilst I'm here I might as well have a guess Is it a trick question? In so much as all countries fly their flags slightly below the very top of the flag pole? (guessing that the reason might be that it is good etiquette to raise a flag slightly before it is lowered? ) No it's not a trick - one country that I know of officially flies it's flag a few inches lower than other countries do.
  17. Cheers Marty - a quick one before I go to bed: which country never flies its flag at the very top of the flagpole, and why?
  18. Actually it takes just 1 visit - switch two lights on, then wait a few minutes then switch one off. Go into the room - one will be on (operated by the switch you've left on) one will be off and cold (operated by the unused switch) and one will be off and hot - the switch that you did turn on and then turned off again. Someone once had me puzzling that in a pub for hours....
  19. I would second that - in an urban environment every part of the multi that you hide has a chance of being muggled and you might find yourself constantly having to replace them.
  20. This is a tough one - often when it's raining I like to go caching as it does get me out the house when I would otherwise just watch a DVD. I do often just to urban ones though as I figure that the more scenic ones would be better tackled in nice weather when I can also enjoy the view as well.
  21. Well done to Haggis Hunter for hitting the big 600 today!
  22. But did he take the piano back with him, I wonder?
