  1. I like the Camelbacks. I have the Mule with a 3 liter bladder that keeps me well hydrated and has space for all the things I like to bring along. Besides the GPS, I think a pack with a hydration system is the most important addition to your Geocaching gear.
  2. Greetings everyone, I live in Spearfish and today I made the journey to the Peter Norbeck Center in Custer State Park. The brochure for the Geocaching Adventure is not yet available. The volunteer had no information on when it would be available – I wasn’t even the first to stop by today. If I hear anything more, I will let you know. JohnAengus
  3. I would stay out of the cities for cahces. I just tried a few in Spearfish, where I live, and they are in very open public areas. I think a few of them have been muggled. The Flume trail is beautiful and one I placed last summer is a fantastic hike: Old Baldy Fitness Cache.
  4. I like the soft sell approach. I get really sick of people trying to sell me stuff all the time. I have been a Charter Member since Wednesday, July 17, 2002. I have not been all that active since I was a college student and had family issues last summer, but I will get out there when summer gets here. Even when I was not Geocaching, I thought about it all the time. I still paid my membership. I felt it was for a good cause and if I can help someone that provides such a terrific service, I'm more than willing. It's the best $3 I spend each month. BTW, last night I figured out how to do paperless caching with my Palm. Fantastic premium feature, thos pocke queries!!!!!! John
  5. I definately would go for the Cx version with the upgradable memory. 8 mb is not much when you start loading maps. The memory cards are fairly inexpensive. John
  6. I live in Spearfish, SD in the Northern Black Hills. Although most of the Black Hills is not a National Park, we have the National Forest. It appears that the Black Hills are all in the map. This is were I do any hiking or geocaching. So, I guess my whole backard is in the 24K Topo!! Thanks. John
  7. Does anyone have any experience with the United States Topo 24K National Parks software? I can't seem to find anything on the forums about it. I am getting a Vista Cx soon. Does the shading shown on the Garmin website show up on the Vista Cx? Thanks! John South Dakota
