  1. My Brother, Youngest & did I GCYHEC and they were bad. Even after sweeping and picking them off our pants, socks, shoes, arms Etc. , Piglet III ended up with 15 embedded. My wife was less than please when she had to pull 2 off of herself. Me? None. PP
  2. Check out Ft. Desoto if you can make the time. Neat place, some good to great caches there as well, like GCHYHB Crueage, one of my favorites in the area. WEAR BUG SPRAY!!! PP
  3. Here are some I did that stood out in my mind as being good caches not too far from Oviedo. 1. GCR29V Sabal Point Sanctuary There is a series of caches here that are well done and make for a fantastic walk. Wear bug spray ('course that will be all of Fl.) 2. GCPMYV Great Scot! (A Riffster`s Tale) (CR-1) A nice place to see some of "old" Fl. away from the tourist traps and congestion 3. GCWQK4 Proliferation A well done mildly difficult multi that will take a little more than an hour. Close to Great Scot!, it's hard to believe this place is here. It would also be neat to see a spawn of Proliferation make it to Seattle. Full disclosure: my brother did these last two. There are many others, that is a great list you have there, but these are the one's that I have done that really stand out to me in the general area. Have a blast!!!! PP
  4. I think I will Email them and see if they will drop the price from $89 to 5 for 4 bucks. Plus shipping pf course! PP
  5. "there should be some sort of "Family" membership that can allow for situations where spouses and children are covered or at least a way to let them log a find." Ok, so now you have a Zop family find, you still don't have Zop child #1 find or Zop child #2 find. Nothing has changed. I guess I really don't see the problem. My kids "log" with me, as they don't have (or need) their own accounts. If one of my children is with me, I sign the log as PigPen4X4 & Piglet I, II or III, Or Piglets III if I have all three. If later they get their own accounts, they can go back and read the logs and back log as needed. Since they can't go on their own, I just don't see the need in them having their own accounts. Also, you can filter out MOC's in your PQ. Problem solved. No crying kids. PP
  6. It isn't gouging, IF indeed there is any such thing for a GPSr. Many retail stores with an on-line store will have very different pricing. I simply ask if they will sell at the internet price, be it Staples, Office Depot, Northern Tools, whomever. I think only once I was told no. If you don't like it, take your money elsewhere. PP
  7. Na, it's caused by global warming and it's Bush's fault!
  8. Hey El Diablo, I'm Suck-up's, er, I mean Clan Riffster's brother. Will that help me get one?
  9. Thank You for not taking it personally. It's not so much a concern for a newbies ability. You might feel your cache should reflect on you, and your feelings will be molded as to what you like and dis-like in a cache as you gain experience. This game means different things to different people, and you may find you love or hate muti's, mysteries, ammo cans, Tupperware, long hikes in the woods, grab n go's etc. Time will tell. Have fun at the lake this summer! PP
  10. It was hard for me to decide to write this, 'cause I really feel like a wet blanket. Looking at your stats, you have three geocache finds. I have found my feelings for a good hide have changed since I started, and are even evolving as I go along. I remember my first LPC, and thought that's really cool! Now, well they are better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. 2. You are talking about a very large area. There may be concerns about being close enough to properly maintain them. If you frequently travel through these areas, it might be O.K., but I'm not even close to having the expertise to be a reviewer. So that comment and three bucks might get you a cup of coffee at S.B's I didn't write this to be critical, and I hope it is not taken that way. Yes, I know some fantastic hides have been place by people with very few finds, but I think that is the exception rather than the rule. Have a blast! And see ya on the trail! PP
  11. Ouch! Ooh! Dang those flames hurt! Fly4Free, You MUST be a ITP, right? But na, this ain't like it were, oh way back yonder. Why, I'm still a lookin fer a Mule Skinner! All of my mentions are great locally owned eateries. But I concur, we do have more than our share of chains. But seriously, there IS great food and great caching all over Atl. I may have to go check out this Spondivits and East Village. IF I can make into the perimeter Thanks for the reality check! PP
  12. Hey! I'm going to be there too. Next week for a class (Wed-Fri) and have been wondering the same type things. I will look up some of these. Thanks for the rcomendations. Any more. OH! I need to run a PQ! PP
  13. I did not know about decoys when I unknowingly found my first one. Try as I might, I could not get the cap off. I Emailed the owner, who replied "I haven't done a lamppost in years". First I was aggravated, then I laughed. I might try one for my next hide. PP
  14. I don't think you need to apoligize anymore. You are only responding to people who saw the first post, ripped down to the bottom and tossed in their reply. I have had to ask for help on a 1 before, then found a harder one right away. As stated before, It happens to most of us. Oh, and I'm sure I have whined a bit as well. It's human nature. PP
  15. Then the other side of the coin, You go after a new or fairly new cache and are stopped and questioned by the landowner who had no idea it was placed on their property or what the h*** it is. PP BTW The purple tie is where the Mayor hides his foil hat. She's a cacher? Man, I hate when that happens! Couldn't be. She has never thought anything through.
  16. Yea, Close to the airport there are not very many hides. Some of the towns not too far away with good hides are Fairburn, Peachtree City, Fayetteville, McDonough, and some others. Food I guess depends on what you are looking for. There is a Tex Mex restaurant here in Fayetteville we really like called La Hacienda, and a wing place called Wings and Things, and in Newnan an Italian American place Vinny R's. I'm not big on chain restaurants, and there are hundreds more that I'm sure others will chime in about, but these come to mind right now. Weather should be warm days (70's) and cool (usually not cold) nights. Enjoy your trip, and remember to arrive back at the airport early, as there can be long waits at security.
  17. Also be sure to check GPSDiscount.com. That is where I got mine. They gave me good service and very fast shipping. PP
  18. Been there, Done that, didn't get all PO'd about it though. My first hide I had to move the final and a stage three times to get it right, then another cache was published a day before I submitted so I had to go move again. Hey, no biggie, we now know that park quite well! Now I have a new hidey place in the same park I'm thinking about, maybe I'll call it "A proliferation of caches"! Whacha think Riff? I am also laying out another multi in different park and I know I have probably 6 hours into it already. And if I don't get it posted soon, someone else may well place one that could throw a wrench in the works and have to start over. But it will be a great cache (if I do say so myself) when I'm done and hoefully it will be well received. Don't fret over it. I like the .11 miles myself, as there is a certin amount of error in these things. PP
  19. I think it sounds like a neat concept, buuuuut; There is a cache here that I have tried to get, but it requires a key that is attached to a TB. The problem is that at least twice I have gone to the cache where the TB was listed, and it wasn't there. It has never been stolen (that I know of) just not logged or placed right away. It has certainly soured my enthusiasm a bit. PP
  20. And then after you get it back, make sure that you put a screen protector on it Yes Mother.
  21. Nice to hear that you are O.K. and the 60 is durable. (I have one too) I will add that if it slides off the dash just right and hits a solid object, it will scratch the screen. I suppose I should send it in for repair. PP
  22. I bought a older Handspring Visor a while ago, and I was THRILLED with it's performance. Until Saturday. The battery was showing about 1/2 when I turned it on. I read a cache, started for it and next time it would not power up. O.K., older batteries, they are a little weak, I can live with that. IF. If I don't lose my data. Most of you already know what happend next. Yep, all my data is in La La land. I had not Hotsynced in a couple of weeks, losing some data on a couple of series. So now I want a PDA that won't lose all the data if the batteries lose all their power. Is there such an animal? How about the cheap, is it Zire 22? Thanks! PP
  23. Glad to see it. Maybe it'll make its way down here one day. PP
