  2. Last year we put some simple maps in the kids stockings that led them to the tree, which we had set up in the woods. We then brought them out to the woods where the maps led us to. We left a trail of ornaments from the road thru the woods that lead to the tree we decorated in the middle of an "enchanted" forest. The few gifts were under that tree. The kids enjoyed it, and we will do it again with more sophistication as they get older (now 5 and 3 years old). One of the objects for us parents was to take the emphasis off of the material things, and make it more about the experience. We struggle with Christmas every year because we aren't exactly into what the whole thing is about, in other words we don't belive in Jesus. Yet the kids are bombarded with hype by the rest of the family, peers, school, television, radio, stores, and the giant Christmas marketing machine in general. I felt geocaching was the perfect way to defocus the whole mess.
  3. You don't use pliers to remove a broken light bulb! You cut a potato in half around its equator, jam it onto the broken bulb, twist, and Voila!, it comes out! Now back to our regular programming............. Hmm... I think the pliers are a bit easier to find around the house. We only buy those nice little red potatoes anyway, I dont think they will work as well.
  4. I was thrown out of cub scouts for flirting with the den leaders daughter.
  5. quote:Originally posted by Eric K: I was thinking of setting up some Bug Hotels if I come across Rest Areas that have say a small hike with a Scenic View etc. I figure being on Interstate Rest areas maybe these could help Bugs on their journeys. Do you think this would be a good idea or a bad idea? Thanks, Eric Avoid Northeast highway rest area! Esp. Massachusetts, unless you are on the mass pike, the rest areas are notorious for illicit activities. I don't even like stopping at some in broad daylight!
