  1. I for one still hate this new search engine. we live 25 miles from town and i have to input that town in the search box just to find out if there is a new cache. before if we needed to find an event cache we had at least a 100 mile radius to search in. now I have to input every specific town ,outside of that 30 mile radius, in the general area. very time consuming. from what I have seen so far it is now geared toward the "city folks". in our case and probably many others around the world, this is no longer a functioning part of the site for us. we are almost a 3 year premium member subscriber and at $30 bucks a year for pocket query abilities only <_< ? ummmmm.... bring back the old search!!!!!!

    (Actual email response)

    Hello ****,

Thank you for contacting DeLorme Sales and Service.

The PN edition of Topo North America 10 will work perfectly with your PN-60 GPS unit. It even comes with a series of regional data discs with maps already formatted for the device for easier transfer.

If you have any further questions or issues, please reply to this e-mail.

    Regards,

So everything looks OK. Thank ya'll for all your help. The main question of memory usage on the discs was answered so..... Thanks again.

  3. So they would completely fit on one 32GB memory card with plenty of room left over. If it starts acting up ,as 39 Steps noted about the 22GB mark, then there should be no problem splitting it in half and putting it on two memory cards. Splitting it in half on two memory cards would semi complicate the geocache PQ downloads but then again the geocaches from the other zones could be attached to that memory card of that zone and kept completely separate. This might work.

PN-Series Edition-Topo North America 10.0 looks like what I need.

Thank ya'll for all the information.

  4. OK Gitchee, Thank you for all the information. Sounds like the Topo is what I am needing. I'll get a 32G SD (manual says it's the largest acceptable) card and see how much room is left on it after loading our region.

We had a Magellan sport trac so learning this one is a little different. It does street maps of our area but in the SE USA it only did major highways and roads. We needed the street maps several times on our trip, so without them the GPS was basically just windshield decoration.

Again, thank you for all your help.

  5. Stupid newbie question.

Just got a PN-60 with no other software, just the GPS (data cord is in the mail on its way). As you may know the PN-60 has major highways only showing on the screen. We need local city streets. So which software can I add to the memory card to get local streets , not just for our area, since we travel and geocache, but nation wide. Been looking at DeLorme Street atlas 2013 but can this completely (all North America street maps) be downloaded to the GPS as a permanent part of the GPS?

    Thank ya'll for your help.

  6. We are going to take a trip and was wondering how to create and print out pocket queries that contain all the coordinates. Our GPS is older and does not have the download capability. so what I am needing to do is from start to finish of trip (in trip order not random) print out geocaches along the route. We are premium members as of today so still need some teaching.

    Thank you for your time

  7. Well we went out this weekend and got on a few dead end back roads and opted out of the oilfield roads this time but all in all I can't complain about its accuracy. It is usually accurate within a couple of feet(unless the cache isn't exactly on GZ. 10 out of 14 today so really can't complain for 8 bucks.

Is the Mapsend Direct Route cd still available or is it going to be one of those "good luck and you'll pay a fortune" kind of things?

  8. I don't think that unit has road navigating capabilities.

It's a 2002 model... discontinued and I had to search fairly hard at the Magellan website to find anything about it.

They offer one download, and that is more than likely a manual (I did not go into it).

Methinks you are gonna have to learn to fly like a crow.:mad:

LOL thanks. It was only 8 bucks at a garage sale and we have had some fun and a few off road adventures trying to go "as the crow flies". Glad to be part of the geocache gang.

  9. OK we are newbies to this geocache thing and not quite figured out this GPS. When I input a coordinate it wants to give me "as the bird flies" directions. So we spend a lot of time trying to find the proper road to just get in the general area. In the boonies with many oilfield roads this can be difficult. Does this GPS give directions by road or will it always be "as the bird flies"?
