  1. If you delete logs on an event because people happen to post it late, you can be almost sure a large amount of them won't bother to return. Treat fellow cachers as friends and only delete logs if it is blatantly obvious they're cheating: - Logging caches that were washed away by a hurricane. - Logging caches without actually visiting the country they're hidden in. Anything else is not worth the time and effort it takes.
  2. You can change unpublished caches for your next hide without consequences.
  3. It's a database program that let's you download cache data, manipulate said data with filters and macros, and load the result in your GPS device. If there was ever a function you wish the site has, GSAK can probably do it. I would recommend viewing some Youtube Tutorials or simply downloading the program and jumping in to try it out.
  5. If you find a cache, someone can go check if you were there on the correct day. How is someone supposed to check when you placed a cache when there can be months between placement and publication?
  6. Would I be right to assume you're using Internet Explorer as your browser? If you are, you might want to shut of compatibility mode, restart your browser and try again. If not, a little more information about your system would be helpful.
  7. If someone was to adopt my caches, I'd have no problem logging them as found, but right now, it just sounds silly to do a thing like that.
  8. If the property owners removed it, you have to ask if they've given permission in the first place...
  9. 1. If you do those things early in the morning or late in the evening when it's dark, you'd only look more suspicious. 2. Just do it and act like you belong there. 3. Be honest when people ask what you're doing.
  10. Are any of those caches earth caches, mysteries or multies? The saturation guideline only applies to placed physical items (ruling out the need to include earthcaches and multi-waypoints that use pre-existing parts of the environment for their information). Mysteries tend to post a coordinate, but hide the cache a some distance away from those posted coordinates. There is a good chance none violate the guidelines. Any map in particular you're looking at?
  11. As a premium member you can set up notifications for new caches placed in your area. That way you know if you have a chance of being the first finder.
  14. FWIW = For what it's worth. API = Application Programming Interface
  15. Such a thing already exists: http://gcvote.com/index.php
  16. I'm caching less lately because of the heat, but I'm not going to change my caching habits because of the souvenirs. I'll accept the ones I get and if at all possible I'd like to get August 18 for my collection.
  17. There are limits, but unless you're trying to download information for all the caches in the United States, you shouldn't be hitting that limit within a 24 hour period. Have you tried loading your PQ's through Wifi to improve the stability of your connection?
  18. Get in touch with the local cache owners as soon as you can. So you know someone is willing to maintain a cache before you're there to place it without any internet connection.
  19. @QClan: I can't remember what the exact reason was for the difference, but snakes are venomous, not poisonous. Not that it really matters much when you're facing one, but I want you to have the facts straight. @4xCharmed: Snakes are usually more afraid of you than you are of them. The best thing to do is to leave them alone. Since snakes can strike from any position and very quickly. Moving away is a good thing. Peppering it, would only agitate it more. Don't go caching in shorts if you expect to get into tall grass or other foliage.
  20. Since Johnny's profile states he's in the North West, I'd assume he means America. I'd go with West rather than East on that second coordinate.
  21. 1) Perhaps I'm stating the obvious, but are you checking on the listing from the correct account? 2) Did you hit the save button for your listing after selecting the last two checkboxes on the page? If you didn't check those, chances are your save didn't go through.
  22. The size indication on the cache space is to show the size of what you can fit inside rather than the size of the item the cache might be hidden in. This cache size is clearly labelled incorrectly.
  23. Nothing wrong with doing emergency cache repairs for a fellow cacher. Just make sure you post a note on the cache page, so other Trinidad cachers won't go looking for a cache that isn't there.
  24. You can follow suit and drop them off with a note, but since TB actually needs to be at the physical location to be dropped, you might as well wait until you're actually present.
