    Magellan eXplorist GC update v2.15 released

    Did anyone have trouble updating their software on the eXplorist GC? I just bought one and when I try to install the software update from the preinstalled v. 1.0.1085.145 to the latest I keep getting an error that says: “The product identifier of the uniteXplorist is not compatible with this upgrade.” I definitely have the GC and otherwise don't have a clue what this means.

     

    I imagine the problem is simply due to my inexperience but have no clue how to proceed. I found nothing on their FAQs to help.

    Sounds like Magellan is outsourcing some work to Garmin software engineers :)

    I did shoot Magellan an email since I couldn't find anything on their site about it. Haven't heard back yet (it was only 1.5hr ago) but when I tried searching on Google found this thread and thought I'd give it a shot. Will post anything I find out here in case it comes up for someone else in the future.

    Touch screen would be better for sure. Hmm Ok I will think about the two options I listed and then decide.

     

    On a side note: Are there any really good Android Apps out there which would help me as well? I'm not updated about the Apps as I'm using a Blackberry for my work in London but I still have my old Galaxy W and I could just swap SIM cards I guess. I already have an App for running but how about a really good App for Trekking Maps and Navigation?

    I am still pretty much a newbie when it comes to Geocaching but came here to also find a good device since I am heading to Scotland & Ireland later this spring as well and want to find something that will help me avoid roaming fees since up until now I have only used my Android phone. I have found the c:geo app to be fantastic and last night was storing caches I want to hunt for on my trip. Cheers!
