  1. Ok, there's the cache, I'll hang this bag of doot over here, replace all the goods with these golf balls and chewed McToys & fill it with water, spraypaint the grounspeak guy on this rock, bury the cache 100 feet away because this spot sucks, take a dump on top of it, and then ask for it to be archived because it was 20 feet from a 3 foot drop-off. Ya, don't we have 100 Avatar test threads allready these people could use? Or even the posted in error...dont read thread! The avatar isn't even right - that arrow isn't even pointing to where I am! 4. I try and trade up one way or another, but similar to what Leprechaun said the better the location, hide and container are, the more apt I am to trade up. I always post my "tooks and lefts", so I sometimes worry if someone watches the cache and figures I took it because I liked it, they might put more in other caches. guess I'd be better off to forget to mention what I took in the log when it comes to that.. 5. Ahh, missed this thread yesterday. Looks cool. Maybe I need to add a public domain geocaching clipart to my page as well? We all have mental problems, it's just that some of us choose to show them.

    Logo Idea?

quote:Originally posted by Zahrim:Where'd you get the G? Since I've been posting the prospective logos to a special web page since this thread was posted by Leprechaun, I'll but into this out of my area forum and say Leatherman came up with that one. There are high resolution versions of this "GX" as well as all the other submissions at my Geologo page if you want to look at them or use one to try and create your own variation. 7. I'd like to complain about people who obviously are infatuated with a particular thing, let's just say clowns for instance, by posting related web sites and bringing the subject up at any given opportunity, and then denying it, as if it's some phobia or something. You know who you are, we can tell how much you admire and love them. Now it's time to come out of the closet and admit it. Any resemblance this post has to any other person posting here, is strictly coincedental. We all have mental problems, it's just that some of us choose to show them.
  8. Sorry, just had to do it... I know, it's basically "forum grafitti". But it cleans up easier... We all have mental problems, it's just that some of us choose to show them.

If a group wants to get together and mint some coins or chips with a logo, then they can determine which logo suits their budget. All the designs will remain available for use by whoever can make use of them. We're just trying to get one logo (or one style of logo) which would represent geocaching in general. 10. Wow, it's getting harder and harder to decide if these submissions are variants of Leatherman's or not! If anyone thinks I've put their logo(s) in the wrong page or pages or credited the wrong person, let me know. We all have mental problems, it's just that some of us choose to show them.
  11. quote:Originally posted by BrianSnat:As far as the oddest thing I've found during a cache hunt, it was the ball portion of a titanium hip implant. I'm trying to figure out a way to turn it into a travel bug, but there is no way to attach the tag. My grandmother has had several hips due to bicycle/car accident when she was young. She has saved them all and often has one on a shelf for a conversation piece. On more than one occasion, a man would pick it up and ask "what kind a trailer ball is this?"! As soon as she would tell them just what it was, they'd put it downquickly! We all have mental problems, it's just that some of us choose to show them.

  13. Oh crap, I thought this was a post about wives. Oh well, nothing to say, other than my ex was a mac (looked nice, good sell on the street, but otherwise useless). We all have mental problems, it's just that some of us choose to show them.
  14. quote:Originally posted by worldtraveler:Nice words... The posting of these threads have nothing to do with competition. If we were voting on a logo for a new upcoming geocaching site, then that would be totally different. That type of discussion would be totally out of line on these forums. Your analogy is off. What we are doing is more like using the Garmin forums to decide on a logo for GPS's in general, so that if we wanted to make a sign depicting a GPS, we could do so without worrying about infringing on Garmin's copyright. Obviously, the letters "GPS" do this as well or better than a logo could, so there is no need for it. However, it would be nice to have a logo which would indicate geocaching as geocaching, and not geocaching.com. And the way I see it, with a public domain logo, more people may make use of it since they no longer have to worry about copyright problems with the Groundspeak logo, which will advertise the sport as a whole. Then when some stanger asks what the logo is, where is that geocacher going to send that person? More than likely it will be to geocaching.com - which in turn will help Groundspeak's profitability. 15. quote:Originally posted by MountainMudbug:Since I don't think anyone did the other time I posted this, I'll try again. Sorry for the oversight. I have uploaded them to my Geologo page now. We all have mental problems, it's just that some of us choose to show them.
  16. I like the Leatherman both for versatility, simplicity, and the "recognizability". However, I can't help that think there is a way to add the Leatherman to the Gustaf (and maybe most of the others) that would be awe-inspiring for web use or stickers, or other uses that can utilize the detail. Possibly if the GX was like a watermark type thing? (I don't have a watermark type thing button on my graphics software, so I couldn't try it ) We all have mental problems, it's just that some of us choose to show them.
  17. Here we go again! Last night as I lay in bed looking at the stars I thought 'Where the hell is the ceiling'?

  19. Yes, all great work, all worthy of recognition... Great response from the community... Last night as I lay in bed looking at the stars I thought 'Where the hell is the ceiling'?
  20. Way cool Red, White, and Blue one, W8TVI! Last night as I lay in bed looking at the stars I thought 'Where the hell is the ceiling'?
  21. Just a note to say I'll get the rest of the variations online tomorrow, got tied up making Geocacher Smurf tonight... Last night as I lay in bed looking at the stars I thought 'Where the hell is the ceiling'?

  23. I have 2 more submissions via email from German cacher Named Nicola Straub (no geo user name was sent), but my software will not open the files, despite them being jpg. Peeking into the file, it says it was written with Adobe Photoshop. Can anyone check these out? geologo_de.jpg - the German Flag-variation geologo_bunt.jpg - a colourful/naive attempt [EDIT] files were correctly resbubmitted. The first one is a real cool variation! 24. Wow LongDogs, those are cool. Especially the wooden one, that would be a easy sig item made with a chunk of maple and a scrollsaw! I know yesterday I was stating taking our time, but maybe we should at least vote if Leatherman's #1 or a variation of it should be included in our design? We are getting so many good variations of it and most of the submissions coming in now are variations, seems like that is the way we are heading. later today I will probably make a seperate page of variations of Leatherman #1 because of this.
