  1. At least you didnt have the police show up on a report of a suspicious person hanging around the building and throwing things off of the roof. My luck they would show up exactly when I was bent over placing the cache in the hiding spot and they would think that I was a terrorist or something.

  2. Does any one know it it is possible to make the garmin v display the current hundred block in which you are traveling in a box like the speed or heading boxes???

I know the information is there because when you scroll across the map page and stop on one spot the hundred block appears.

  3. The other day my sister-in-law and I were just approaching our first cache of the day when she saw a man laying in the exact area where the cahce was. She swore the guy was not wearing any clothes, I was unsure. As we got closer it appeared that this guy was wearing a thong and nothing else. He had a pile of clothes laying next to him like he was on his lunch break and decided "hmmm mabye I will go to the local park and take off all my clothes and lay there for all to see".

It isn't like this guy had found a private area in some trees he was viewable from the parking lot. The thing that bothered me the most was that this guy didn't even make an effort to cover his hairy crack as we walked by.

So my question is what would you have done? We just left and decided to come backe at a later date. icon_eek.gif

  4. I have been taking photos of the last few caches that I have visited in anticipation of uploading them to the site. The only problem is that they are way over 100k and I am unable to upload them. Does anyone know how to make the same images smaller that 100k? Is it even possible?

  5. I would highly suggest that you steer clear of E-bay... I thought that I would save some money buying my gps V from ebay and I got burned. The seller had great feedback and seemed reputable untill I sent the money order and never heard form the guy again. If you are stuck buying from ebay then I suggest using a escrow service. the other drawback to ebay is that you have to wait longer to get your gps. And that is precious time you could be geocaching.

  6. I am wondering if anyone out there knows of or has a good powerpoint presentation about geocaching? I have to give a speech tomorrow and I think caching would be a fun topic. I am just looking for ideas to talk about. I remember seeing a link to a presentation a couple of months ago but I am having trouble finding is by searching. Thanks for your help!

I bought my gps v from tvnav.com and I felt that I was gettin the best deal around. Garmin has discontinued the regular version and are only shipping the deluxe version. If you can find the regular version I'd buy it. When I upgraded to the new city select version they allowed me to upgrade to the deluxe nation wide unlock for $50.

  8. I had a real bad experience with E-bay and needless to say unless I am willing to loose the money I don't use it. I recently found myself in your position and after getting screwed on e-bay for a gps v I went to the phone book and started calling pawn shops and found a mag 315 for $60 after a little haggling. I would highly suggest this method just because I am very impatient and have a hard time sittin still waiting on the mail or ups. This way you have product in hand immediatly instead of having to trust that the seller will send the merchandise. If you do use E-bay I would strongly suggest an escrow service to protect yourself and ALWAYS pay with credit card. I used cashiers check and there is no insurance. Most credit card companies will insure your purchases.

Negative, It has been the required thirty days and I have had no luck with any of the options given. I have however come to the conclusion that I will prob. never use E-bay again. At least on items of much value. It's just too risky.

I did however convince my wife to let me purchase a Garmin gps v from tvnav.comand I am very satisfied. My advise to new cacher's is to check the pawn shops though. I found a mag 315 for $60 at a nearby pawn shop and it worked great untill I convinced my wife that I needed a gps v. I'm not sayin there is any comparison between the two but it is fun for the both of us to have a gps when we go caching. Oh well, I'll keep you guys posted on the E-bay issue. I have filed with E-bay fraud division and If they don't get and info in 30 more days I get to file a claim with E-bay insurance (like that is gonna do any good!!!)

Could you possibly post the exact url to the poll instead of just the paper's main page? I searched the site for quite some time, saw nothing at all about geocaching.

Here is the exact url of the article Geocache Article

By the way the results were in favor of letting the geocaches stay when I last looked.

  13. I just heard form Garmin that new legislation has been handed down from the CA state court system requiring Garmin to include a warning on any of the gpsr's that have antennas due to the chance of falling on an extended antenna and impaling an oriface. Magellan has responded to this legislation by saying "our's is too short and stubby to pose a hazard to any oriface." icon_eek.gif
