  1. I don't have an agenda, I just feel that the current design is wrong, and will not have an offensive coin like that in any of my caches.
  2. Most of you may already have seen this thread over on geocaching topics. A cacher lost his life while looking for a cache in the US. It's a cruel reminder how dangerous the outdoors can be. My thoughts go to his family. Have a safe Christmas....and happy caching. Donnacha.
  3. wildlife\fauna specific to the uk maybe...that would be nice also.
  4. Actually I don't. I'm with Klaus and would like to see option 3.
  5. Something along these lines... the relief looks really good, it's very much a non-political 'geo' image, and you could then throw ideas for a background around until there's agreement That looks much better
  6. There's loads here in Ireland I don't know where to start. Corran Tuathail cache is on Irelands highest mountain and is a great walk. There's a few around me too, Timon's Folly, Corrasillagh-Ballinaskea, Spink, Fancy that! Lugg a vault up the wrong mountain and The Fancy Cache just to name a few. I cound go on and on.......
  7. Hadn't we established that NI is a part of the UK? I don't mean to knock anyone's attitudes or beliefs, but if we start ignoring established facts... SP I don't recognise that fact. If one lands in any of my caches it will be removed, and I will return to owner. No problem, but I am sure I'm not the only one offended by this design.
  8. Absolutely not. I have no problem with you guys having a union jack on your UK geocoin. I just don't want to see any part of the island of Ireland on it. If you want a UK only geocoin, leave out the whole island. At the end of the day it's your coin and you can do what you want, but if you go ahead with the current design it will not be welcome in any of my caches, and I will not be moving any of them on.
  9. I agree a UK geocoin is a great idea, but I can't believe the way my island is being portrayed. Ireland is and island, not just the area that remains under British rule. I totally disagree with the image on this geocoin. Either include the whole island of Ireland (without flag), or leave it out. I also don't think it's nice having the north of Ireland with the union jack in the background.
  10. I use mine when I'm 4x4ing and mountain biking.
  11. The latest ver of easyGPS supports USB, I use it with my usb 76cs.
  12. no problem, easy mistake. I'm in a study with with 3 pc's,1 server, 2 apple pc's , 4 monitors, 2 network routers, 1 cable modem, 2 usb hubs and several other pieces of equipment buzzing away. Wireless and wired networks all connected.. Looks like Las Vegas in here with all these LED's flashing. Then there is the PC attached to the TV in front room, the laptop in the bedroom and the PC in the shed with the security cameras attached. You think you got cable problems. You just described my room!
  13. Thanks WLW.....stitches are coming out tomorrow but have another few weeks of recovery until I can go out caching\hiking\biking
  14. lol....I remember that. we had a few stumbles that day.
  15. I know one of our MR guys has one...i also still carry two hand flares anyway
  16. Isn't shining a laser at an aircraft supposed to be a bad thing? Also, I'm not sure if a super-narrow beamed light is what you need if you're trying to catch the attention of someone 20 miles away. What are the chances you'll get the beam to pass across their pupil? You can't hold it perfectly still, so unless you're very lucky they'd only see a flash anyway... If I was on the high seas or in the mountains I think I'd be happier with my own big torch, or perhaps a distress flare or two? Perhaps a pro would comment on the search and rescue / safety credentials of laser-pen devices. SP Maybe you should read how you use the device first
  17. This is what I use when out and about at night. I also carry a mag too. You can also get a laser flare that attaches to the back of a mini mag, although it can still be used standalone. They are quite handy (and pricey), but you can signal a rescue party or aircraft 20 miles away. I got the one up from the mag version.
  18. In order to reset a V, you need to downgrade the firmware, the reset feature was taken out after 2.12beta. Once you have downgraded, you can resset the unit by holding down the quit, out and power button. After that upgrade the firmware. Please note this will erase all settings.
  19. done, map is located on the irish caches page on www.geocachingireland.com and can be seen by using our interactive map and selecting Dublin D.
  20. I never met Mark in person, but was a frequent user of his shop and he was always a pleasure to deal with. Condolences to his family. Donnacha.
  21. All well as the egroup we now have www.geocachingireland.com
  22. I got the same when trying to log three caches. It actually posted the logs, as I can now see them on my cache page, as before when you went to view then it just said disk error. I also just logged another and it logged ok.
