  10. quote:Originally posted by Tim & June: perhaps I should have said "After all, the logo you're discussing will be used to advertise another website, the fate of which depends upon Jeremy's goodwill." I hope I am not speaking out of turn but I am a little concerned that the fate of GeocacheUK.com is in the hands of another. In the time the site has been running it has cost me well into 4 figures to get to the position we are now. I have spent many hours on the site so has Teasel. The site was setup to give UK Cachers another rescource and to complement Geocaching.com. I decided when I set up the site that we would never charge the cacher and never will. We have had dialog with GC.com and and the help we have recieved has been great. We thank them for that. But if the geocacheUK.com is going to be the cause of conflict I would rather call it quits. I will however not do that if the site is usefull to the people that use it. I am sure that we help in a small way in reducing the trafic on GC.com's servers as quite a bit of information can be found on our site. You still however have to log on to GC.com to log caches and always have to as it is pointless to try and do something the GC.com do so well. The comment I made sometime ago about closing down the site was due to the lack of communication we where having with GC.com this is not an issue anymore. Teasel has coppied me the messages he has sent and recieved from the guys at GC.com and we are working well as anyone that has looked at the stats pages can see. I am not trying to get at anybody with this post. Tim & June have a tight rope to walk and it is a far harder job than I have with gc:uk. They deserve our full support in what they do they have mine. Long may they continue. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  11. The fox is getting a bit restless, and wants out again. If you have any good ideas for a hunt location let me know, and we will see what we can do. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  12. Well I did move it a bit further South at the weekend. And will do so again next weekend. If the rules change so it can move further I am willing to move it as far south as is wanted. The Odds Goal seems like a good place. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  13. Teasel if you click on the Play it again Sam Link you get directed to the Sunninghistory 7 cache. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  14. How he found the time I dont know, but Teasel has hit the ton. Well done mate and I will see if I can beat you to 200. The only problem I have to get to 100 first. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  15. quote:Originally posted by Nia:Mark we can't register on your forums, can you not ruduce the minimum characters, so we and others like MCL can use the same username. Please Tech-no notice Oh I wish it where that simple. I have looked at the admin and there is no way to alter the mimimum characters in the forums as we have them now. I do have a new system ready to come on-line in the near future. But till then take SimonG's advice it will work. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  16. Well I have set up a forum on Geocacheuk.com for the discussion of the Logo entrys. If folks would like to discuss the topic there then you are welcome to do so. But while I can understand the point that Tim & June make in there post this forum is for discussion on geocaching in the UK. I surpose that if you feel that GeocacheUK is part of geocaching in the UK then I personaly dont see a problem. In the forums on our site we have people refering to geocaching.com all the time and we dont have a problem with that. Also we have links from our site to geocaching.com. We are not trying to take away from geocaching.com just enhance the caching expereance for UK Cachers. But the final say must rest with the moderators of this forum if they say that they do not feel the topic is sutiable for this forum then so be it. As I say feel free to discuss over on our site. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  17. What I plan to do is at the end of next week I will reduce the number of submissions to the top 10. You all will then get another vote. The week after again I will reduce them down to the top 3. From them we will I hope get a winner by the end of the month. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  18. We have 19 submissions for a new GeocacheUK.com Logo. If you want your say just go to the site and vote. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  19. As one of the few players to have kicked the thing I just got fed up with being the only player for a while. I will kick the ball this weekend a bit further south. But for the life of me I cant see the Odds winning the game as they will never get it north going on past performance. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  20. Well I would never use PayPal because of all the problems I had with them. What I did was got $30 dollers in cash and posted it to them. It worked for me. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  21. Just send it to mark@geocacheuk.com Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  22. quote:Originally posted by washboy: The circle around the cross, kinda like a "G" (see Kouros' pic in these forums). Just append a small ":UK" in green, at lower right and there you go. It would be good to use something like the geocaching logo but I see a problem. 1, The fact that the geocaching.com Logo is copyright being the big issue and feel GC.com might get a little bit upset if we where to nick it. Also I feel that we need something different to maintain our identity. Dont ask me what I am not a graqphic designer. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  23. If you look on the site there is one that was submittied yesterday. Number 5 I think. It is Fun, Simple, to the point and easy to reproduce. Well that is my opinion but what do I know. The cachers will decide. Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
  24. Yeh I can understand that but there are a few good ideas on the site. And I want one that can be used on some UK merchandise. What do others think? Mark (TheCat) www.geocacheuk.com
