  1. Yea turn off the run once option just so it does not get deleted before you get a chance to see where the problem might be. Have you ever received a PQ yet?
  2. I would put some money to this if the state organization there is willing to take the lead and organize the effort. {edited to remove comments that if taken out of context could have very negative effects. Thanks for the understanding}
  3. I think some of the angst comes from the feeling of some people that the rules get applied differently to different people. And that some are granted favors that would not be to others. I don't want to say this is how anyone who posted in this thread feels, because I don't know how these people feel. But I can say that is how I feel. Rules are rules and that is fine. I don't agree with them all and that is fine as well. But I do expect them to be applied evenly across the board. I just don't feel they always are. I don't really care that someone breaks the rules but they need to get slapped for it like anyone else. I think it just makes it that much worse when the person is a mod. Like it or not I think they have to hold themselves to a higher standard. Even if they think they are walking close to the line they should take a step back just to be certain. Or at least use a non-mod account.
  4. Yea but you don't know it till you read it then you are offended. Will this idea of being able to say anything in the forum and have the fallback to be able to just say then don't read it be a new policy that other mods will be putting into place? Also to keep this on topic with geocaching ... I am starting to collect funds to take a trip to go caching somewhere. I don't know where yet, that will depend on how much money the community sends.
  5. Good point. Makes sense. I am closing this question asked and answered. Thanks. For those that feel the need to beat on Indiana and the rest open a new thread.
  6. Did you check the Daylight Savings setting? Did not see that one. Thanks that seemed to fix it. So does that mean in the fall I will need to go back and uncheck it? I was just thinking that if my time zone was set correctly it would look at the server time and add or subtract the hours necessary set on my time zone setting.
  7. Is anyone else having a problem with the time stamping on their posts? It looks to me like they are an hour behind. I checked my time zone setting and it is correct.
  8. I have gotten my five everyday this week including today. One suggestion -- go and check your PQs and see if you checked them to run for any particular day. You can also see when was the last time they were run. That at least tells you if you should be looking further into an email problem on your end as was stated above.
  9. Oh no I did not mean to count them out. I did a quick look on donations and I did not turn up anything. It was quick so it is very possible I am missing something. You are correct (man it hurts to say that ) if you are doing federal contracting you are well versed in knowing what butt to kiss. I just worry if the SC assembly is too small of a blimp on their radar. Maybe maybe not. I don't know anything about SC political giving laws but they may not be set up to drop money in state races there. Hey if somebody has an in with those types and they are willing to do something, then yea go for it. But for right now I think it is important to get the folks that actually vote for the reps in state to continue their work.
  10. There is a reason they call the house the lower body. The best thing at this point may be for SC folks to start working on their Senators. In general, the senate (the upper body) of a bicameral (sp) legislative system has a lot more common sense and tends to show more restraint. Most of the crap that goes on in the house would never fly in the senate. Also as was mentioned earlier start working on the gov. If it gets that far it may be helpful to have him thinking veto before it even gets to his desk. I don't know how much help GPSr companies would have here. I don't see them as big movers and shakers in the political world. I would not think they are dropping a lot of money in federal races let alone down ballot offices. In my working with politicians I have found that they do respond to voters in their district. They know how few numbers, certainly in down ballot races, it really takes to move an election. They generally think that there is one person presenting their point of view. That person may be married so that makes another person. And that person may have a friend who they can talk to about who they should or should not vote for. People who agree with you may or may not go out and vote. People that disagree with you or who you have voted differently than they have shown to be their view will go to vote. It becomes a question of not how many friends you have but have many enemies. And lets be honest I don't know that I see anyone that would be a friend to vote for this bill.
  11. Well if this does pass do you think we can all direct the angst that has been going on with the Salvation Army to the state of South Carolina? Can we call for a boycott of that state? Those that are not from there vow to never go there? The ones that are from there maybe its time for y'all to leave. I was actually thinking about going to Charleston this summer, if this passes I will not be going. I think I can spend my money in better places. Ones that are more willing to accept my kind.
  12. Oh tough guy huh! (And in my mind I can only hear that being said like in a Three Stooges movie)
  13. While I agree with your point .... As has been pointed out this is not a constitutional issue ... But if it were the freedom of speech gives someone the right to voice their point of view but it does not give them the right to be heard. Subtle but important thing to keep in mind. The freedom of the press belongs to those that own the presses.
  14. Too funny. That is the only post in this thread that has anything to do with geocaching.
  15. You missed a few: D.C. style - under the crack pipe New Jersey style - under 10 lanes of asphalt New Jersey style (if in Pine Barrens) - under dead body dumped there Delaware style - under chemicals from Dupont plant Baltimore style (moving caches) - in women's big hair (don't assume to be micro) Baltimore style - pink flamingo stuck in ground marks the spot I am sure there are others.
  16. Hey gc.com gets to take advertising from who they want. Their logo is their property that they get to sell, lease, rent, etc. how they see fit. Having the Salvation Army doing what they are doing is not a lot different than a private GPSr maker buying ads and running a contest. If you thought a particular brand was a piece of crap and they did this would it cause you to become angry with gc.com? Or some people have problems with certain companies because they supported one candidate or another for president and they won't go into those stores. Fair enough -- but if that company bought ads here would you blast gc.com for taking their money? I guess I do question if gc.com would allow a for profit business to run the same kind of contest with an entry fee. Don't know for sure, but again it is their business. I have often said that people here need to vote with their feet if it causes them a problem. Or at least with their checkbook and don't buy memberships or products. It is a business and the bottom line is what counts. On religious items that may offend. I suspect everyone has something they might find offensive yet many others don't. So who would be the worst person, someone who is offended by some religious article and tosses it out or someone that is offended by a political belief that is very very unpopular and tosses out an item that is based around that? I think they should just both grow up and leave the crap alone if they don't like it. How hard is that? Oh I forgot -- there are many people that do believe their way is the only way, everyone else is wrong and they should be shown no respect because they have a different point of view and because I don't like their point of view I get to throw away the stuff that I don't agree with because after all I am right and they are wrong so screw them.
  17. And gc.com is what? Found the answer here, a commercial enterprise. I am guessing that is the same as a for profit business.
  18. I would have talked to the person that seemed most like me. And I am not afraid to admit that or apologize for it.
  19. I don't know that it is really a misgided defense mechanism. I think it is just natural and easier for people to accept others who are more like them than not. Let's say you are a 60 year old white male. And you are in an elevator with two other people. One is a white male who looks about your age. The other is a white male that looks about 25. Who do you think you would be more likely to strike up a conversation with if the elevator stops and you are stuck between floors? I just think it is a natural thing that one is more likely to gravitate to someone that looks like them. And that counts for age, race, social and economic class, etc. We all tend to associate with others who are like ourselves.
  20. Thanks for the graphic Hynr. My description probably was not clear enough. I think the graphic helps to show what I was trying to say.
  21. Just for anyone else that is trying this at home. You don't have to click on the link of the user's name. If you just move the cursor over the name to where the link is and then look in the lower left corner of your browser you will see the URL for where you will go if you click the link. If you click on your own name it will change the URL because it opens up your own page with a different view than what you get by clicking on someone else's name. So just hover, without clicking, over the name and you will see the original URL.
  22. I am not sure what you are looking to do but does this place help you in what you are looking for?
  23. Or just get a gmail account or something like that.
