  1. You can do what I did for this geocoin that I own - - - http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=1117262 Make sure that the coin is in your inventory, by activating it. Then create a note for the cache into which you want to dip the coin, noting what you are doing. Then retrieve it back into your inventory, before moving it to another further cache. Whether you can backdate the dip I am not sure, but I suspect that you can. Also some cachers like to see the 'dipping' notes removed otherwise when they download the caches as pocket queries they get these notes, which takes up 1 of the 5 logs that they get with the download. Cheers from Dubai. GeoCRAt.
  2. Has anyone noticed the grammatical ERROR on the Geoswag.com 7th anniversary coin? See this website - - - http://shop.geoswag.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/pre34.html - - - where it says "Geocaching celebrates it's 7 year anniversary". As we know, it's (with the apostrophe) is short for "it is", whereas its (without the apostrophe) indicates possession. Surely someone checked the coin for errors prior to it being minted. Maybe it's (it is) the accountant in me - striving for perfection!! Later. GeoCRAt.
  3. Sent you a PM re moving a Travel Bug over to Ashburton. Andrew I am willing to drop Travel Bugs / Geocoins in the United Arab Emirates and possibly Oman, if anyone is interested. Thanks. (I see that Middle Eastern countries are not shown on Aushiker's website - perhaps it could be updated).
  4. I am pleased to see so many active caches in Saudi ( ). I lived in Riyadh for four years, and would quite willingly return anytime. I still have four active caches under my name in Saudi, and was lucky to find my very first cache outside of Mecca about two weeks before I moved to Dubai. I am surprised, though, that Saudi has more caches than the UAE.
  5. I really hope that the Jeep TB's will be made available to cachers outside of the USA, as was done for the Unite for Diabetes Travel Bugs. Those cachers living outside of the USA would really appreciate receiving the Jeep TB's, if only to get them in circulation in different countries in which Jeeps are also popular, and particularly in the United Arab Emirates where desert driving is so popular. THANKS.

  8. Sounds like an interesting idea - I will send you a personal mail so that I can get your mailing address for the TB tag. I presume you will want me to activate it? Thanks to Liveonce and Desert Trekker for highlighting this forum post to me. Cheers, Charles (aka GeoCRAt).
  9. AGAIN it seems I am having issues with GMail. I have all the United Arab Emirates caches on my watchlist. Yet some were found yesterday and I did not get the log reports. What is up with GMail these days?
  10. I was wondering whether anyone has designated a mission for their Travel Bug to be the first in space, or at least to leave the earth's atmosphere? I have just activated two Travel Bugs - - - http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=787003 AND http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=787660 - - - with this as the specified mission. Hopefully these are the first Travel Bugs with such a mission, and hopefully a cacher that works for NASA will be able to assist. Could be very difficult to determine their mileage though. THANKS.
  11. Fellow Cachers, I would like to design my own geocoin. I will obviously need some sort of graphics software for this. Can anyone recommend a good program, preferably free for download off the Internet, that I can use to do this? Thanks, GeoCRAt.
  12. Just click the recalculate distance thingy I believe that the "Recalculate Distance" function is only available to the owner of the TB. I have the same issue with the Impala TB - - - http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.as...d8-09d5e1b80307 - - - I assisted with its move from Dubai to South Africa, yet for three weeks the distance has not been updated to show this move. Surely the distance should be updated automatically by the geocaching website , rather than relying on the TB owner to do a manual "recalculate distance". Personally I like to see the distances covered by the TB's on my watchlist, and I suggest that the website be amended so that distances are automatically recalcuated as soon as a TB is logged into a new cache. THANKS.
  13. I have the same problem - two of my caches were found today, as well as one cache on my watchlist. I only know this from having seen the website, not through the e-mail notification.
  14. It's been requested before. And not only for South Africa, but for a lot of countries. See:http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=77594 There was some postive feedback on that thread by Jeremy, but it has been silent in that topic for some time. Surely it is possible to determine (perhaps from Google Earth) the co-ordinates of the province boundries, match that with the co-ordinates specified for the cache location and then automatically allocate the caches to the provinces. It is just a matter of overlaying Google Earth with the cache co-ordinates and letting technology do the rest.
  15. I refer to my posting in a different forum (under suggested changes to the geocaching website) - - - http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=161079 I would like to see a feature whereby if you choose to see caches in South Africa (which now has 1,700 caches) there would be a further split by province. Just as is done for the caches in the USA, Canada, Australia (and some more countries I suspect), I would like to see caches sorted by the 9 provinces in South Africa. This will make it a lot easier to plan your cache hunting. Thanks, GeoCRAt. (It is really good, however, to see geocaching becoming so popular in my home country)

  17. WELL THAT'S WEIRD - at the time of writing this reply the GeoCoin club home page is still showing the incorrect spelling - - - http://www.geocoinclub.com/ - - - perhaps they have uploaded the original incorrect coin to their website that has been fixed elsewhere?
  18. If you would like to send the item/s to the United Arab Emirates I will drop them over here for some serious mileage. GET WELL SOON!!
  19. I have just seen the coin that members of the Geocoin club (myself included) will receive as the April coin. See http://www.geocoinclub.com/ I was wondering whether the "You're amost there" is correct, or should it be "You're almost there"? Not sure whether this was done deliberately for some reason? I would be interested in the relevance of "You're amost there" if this is correct.
  20. And here is another example - - - http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...04-424b9d5ccddf - - -
  21. I promised myself that before I moved from Saudi Arabia to Dubai (in the UAE) I would find at least one cache. I tried in vain for numerous caches, before finding my first one outside the holy city of Mecca - - - http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...48-23a1dd72d783 - - - at the time of writing this post I am still the last person to have found the cache. I will always remember the excitement of that first cache.
  22. I think that's a GREAT idea. But why limit it just to the USA. I would like to see the ability to download all caches in a particular country, say South Africa. I have suggested this before. A good idea, and hopefully something that will be considered.
  23. Hi, I have always wondered whether "Needs Archived" should be changed to "Needs Archiving" or "Needs to be Archived"? Perhaps there are some English teachers out there that could shed some light? Thanks, GeoCRAt.
  24. Hi, I have noticed that a few TB's on my Watchlist do not seem to have their distance traveled calculated properly. For example - - - http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=260748 - - - the IMPALA Travel Bug has not had distance added for its move from the UAE to South Africa? Considering that it has traveled from Holland to the UAE to South Africa, my guess is that the 3,545 miles traveled as shown on the website is inaccurate. Perhaps the owner needs to manually "Recalculate distnace" though I would have thought that this is something that should happen automatically. Cheers, GeoCRAt.
  25. you can go here to search by keyword. http://www.geocaching.com/track/ Aaaaah, very useful - THANKS for that!!
