  1. Has anyone found any benchmarks? We went after 3 of them the other day because they were close. We took pictures and all that stuff, but they don't show up as "benchmarks found" or anything like that, and they don't appear on "my cache page." I don't see the point! The kids liked it because it was something else to find, but there should be an easier way to find out which benchmarks have been found and how many times and all that. Just curious what everyone else thinks.

  3. I'm excited about this event, because I already know I'm going to miss the Central Valley event on the 27th because of work. I don't know if I can help much, but I'll try to think of some things and email them to you.
  4. The palmable indexes are at http://www.pathetique.com/geocaching The instructions are at the bottom of the page. This is the coolest thing around. I never go without my Palm!

  6. We will try to be there. I *might* have to work that weekend - but I'm not sure yet. If we can, we'll be there...

  8. Just put a new cache up near where I work. I wanted to jump on the 4th bandwagon! This is a really small one in a busy area. It was approved in less than an hour! Here's the link: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=27613 This one's real easy for me to check on!

  10. Inspired by George and Mike's Lover's Leap trip, my kids want me to take them down any of the rivers around here. I want to know which one would be good. where should we start and end? My kids are 8 and 6 so I don't want anything crazy. Just a nice time floating down the river for an hour or so. Any ideas on this would be great. we want to go tomorrow if possible! thanks all!

  12. That was really fun. It was great meeting all the veteran cachers around here. I posted a couple pictures for the dinner, nothing great. We'll definitely have to plan something again soon. Maybe theobriens (they were out of town for this one) and we will plan a barbecue or something. No promises!!! Thanks again georgeandmary!

  14. We just hid our first 2 caches in "our neck of the woods." There aren't many caches here where we live (compared to Modesto or something), so this'll change that a little. They're both pretty easy, but they're in heavy foot-traffic areas, so that will make it harder. Especially #1, which is pretty big for where it is. I don't know how long they take to post, but here's the links: Warrio#1: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=26783 Warrio#2: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=26785 Hope they're 'successful' (not found by mere mortals!) See everyone on the 27th! Randy

  16. I was very happy last night after work. We had a birthday dinner for Tammi and went out with my parents (their first time ever) to find Letter 22 and Skunks Toybox (HEY, A BUG - AND THE ONE I WANTED SO BAD!!!). Anyway, feeling really good about ourselves, I called the Obriens and found out that they had been going cache crazy and GOT SEVEN THAT NIGHT. And the Blossom BUG. Wow, I've got a pretty serious job ahead of me. I can feel their breath on the back of my neck now!! GREAT JOB guys - that's really impressive. Especially when you get off work at around 5 like I do. ---- Dragonfly huh? Sounds fun. LOL

  18. This one was one of the first for us, the Obriens and Rigatoni (we all know each other - lol). the Obriens went out to find it to show some friends what geocaching is all about and said it was gone. I haven't gone out there myself to check, but I hope it isn't true.

  20. I'm having trouble making this work. I know I can pick a current index and everything will probably work perfectly, but I want the listings to be local to me, and Patterson is the closest index I could find (no offense georgeandmary!). When I select the page I THINK is correct with AvantGo, I have to put in my zip code in my Palm. It then says it will update at the next hotsync, but never does. What am I doing wrong? Or do you HAVE to pick a particular index? Thank you for ANY help!!! Randy

  22. George, what do you use to get the data into your Handspring? I think I read that the easygps program will export an Excel file, which I can then convert to read on my Palm, but is there something better than that? I would love to stop printing all my "caches to get" and just have the data on my Palm instead, especially if I could easily search by waypoint name. Since I'm so new to this, I'm sure there's something that works really well that I haven't even thought of yet. Thank you for any info! Having a blast. Started caching today and wound up by the Modesto Airport where they were having an airshow. Took a helicoptor ride and hung out there. Going back to Legion Park to try the few there tomorrow (Father's Day). Randy

  24. If you have Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) it's as easy as going to the Image menu, selecting Image Size and putting in the new size. Adjust the "long" side (width or height - whichever is longer) and make sure "constrain proportions" is selected. Then save it as a jpg with a decent amount of compression. If you can't do this, email me the pics at my work email, randy@jamzcheer.com (I have DSL there). I'll resize them for you and send them back. Or email me directly for more help. I can definitely be useful to the "Central Valley Cachers" on anything involving photography!!! Randy
