  1. That's not a bad idea oscar! We should contact Garmin and see what they think, that is unless someone has a NICE GPS they don't use anymore. And a Geocoin should be made for this if completed. Oh, and as for the site I finished the HTML for the homepage. BUT, It's a little hard without suggestions and inputs soo why don't you tell me some? PM or reply. -Eric
  2. Yeah, I wouldn't like to be on a the highway and see signs that says, Geocacher Hotel 5 miles off exit 35. Just for the people who have to stay overnight to find a difficult cache.
  3. I have limited resources but I can get it done. Just let know what "simple" means. I'm pretty sure I can do it, I've got the space...although bandwiths tight. I can get a good deal at Godaddy if everyone contributed a little. I'd rather do that than be be a cache owner in the mulit, so take me off the list and keep oscar. BTW, Jeremy, why don't you sticky this. -Eric I was just thinking something simple that could be shared with the 50 volunteers. You know, some sort of graphical elements, as description of the overall idea of the whole thing and then individual space for information to be posted about individual caches. No need for web space, hosting or anything like that. Does anyone have a sample of what they have done to provide a CLAF of a series they have done? Wait, do you want sample HTML, I've already completed (for other sites) or what I would make for this site? -Eric
  4. This is starting to get confusing, I'm starting on the site now before I get lost in a 500 page topic.

  6. If this is organized we somehow are gonna have to trust that the owners are on the ball, because I would hate to go to all 49 states and find the last cache missing ......
  7. I'm up here in Ohio, so I could place one. If this is completed we should so have geocoins made. -Eric
  8. I'm thinking ebay, but you can try your local classifieds.
  9. I don't think us "non-power members that don't have admin powers" can delete an account. But you can just 'ditch' this account and go for a new one if thats what you'd like.
  10. Well if that's than I just broke the rules tonight about 20 minutes ago , I'm pretty sure that they are allowed.
  11. I've only got 494 more caches to catch up to! JK, it's not about the numbers, I bet Jim has many, many interesting stories he could tell.
  12. All I can say is keep a spare set of batteries
  13. Tell me more, it sounds cool.
  14. Technically one, but literally two. I bought one on ebay and never received it . So I took another chance and got a way better one for a way better price on ebay. Gotta be careful on that Ebay.
  15. Notify the cache owner. or... You can pretty much stop them for good if you publicly log your find at the same cache and on the cache page say "so and so never logged it, beware so and so" But that's a little intense. But a simple email to the owner does the trick -Eric
  16. I got a dollar once. And to be serious isn't Jeremy kinda the head honcho, or am I missing someone? -Eric
  17. A type of cache container that to me is plain evil.
  18. Because you run into EVERYTHING while on a hunt. And I mean EVERYTHING. Just go to the Unusual hunt forum.
  19. Hmmm, I've never heard of that problem with an Etrex (which I have also). Did you try The Etrex Manual on Garmins site? And are you hand entering the coords or are you doing it via computer? -Eric
  20. There's an age restriction I could have sworn I read those Terms of agreement or whatever you call them all over.
  21. I just had a neighbor spot me out caching once (I'm 13) with a friend, she pulls up and goes "are you two starting trouble". I said "No I lost something". She went off like she didn't care. Works all the time. Works the best in populated areas, if a muggle goes by I ask my friend "did you find them yet"? So the muggle thinks were looking for lost stuff. -Eric
  22. Once I let my friend follow the GPS and while we were walking past some muggles he's just walking looking down at it reading it every 2 seconds every muggle in the entire park looked up. 450 feet 445 feet 440 feet 435 feet 440 feet now 425 feet almost there only 420 more feet to go and I literally could here the muggles whispering to one another "to what?" And then when we got to the cache site, even if there was a news crew right on the right spot he would just walk right up, sign the log, trade, and go WHOOPEE I found it . I on the other hand would dress up like im in the military, run behind trees, slither on the ground, wait hours for others to leave, and curl up in a ball under a *ouch* pine tree. <and yes I have. -Eric
  23. In Firefox (browser) you can zoom in and out. It doesn't make just the text bigger, but the whole page. Just a quick handy tip for firefox users. Because who uses IE? (Not to start a stir) -Eric
  24. Sometimes the best thing to do is once your GPSr gets to around <5 go back out, oh say 20 feet, and follow it again. If it leads you to the same location that is <5 feet away, put the GPS away and look manually. That would prob. be the best thing to do. Thats what I did an hour ago and it helped. The cache was hidden in a hollow log. For some reason hiders like hollow logs -Eric
