Hate the new website design!!! Why on earth would anyone redesign the site to waste all of the space at the top of the pages and force us to scroll down to get to anything important? Not to mention that the new look is UGLY! Can't we go back to GREEN? Where the heck did Quick View go? It's now anything but "quick" and not at all intuitive to locate. Fire the designers and let's go retro eh. Someone obviously had way too much time on their hands and didn't consult the users. MEH

Is there any way to get a travel bug photo deleted from the geocaching.com master photo gallery of trackables? It was posted by the owner with its tracking code showing.

I realize that it is generally accepted practice to NOT log any of our own personal physical geocaches, but what is the official or generally accepted rule for logging one's own EarthCache(s)? It's not like you are cheating by finding a physical geocache that you hid yourself. Opinions or official rules would be good to hear. Thx

Are we allowed to make our own geocoins, purchase tracking numbers and engrave our own geocoins with those purchased numbers? If we don't require a custom icon on the tracking page do we need geocaching.com's permission to make, circulate and track these DIY geocoins? Can't find an answer on the forums.

Is there any way to report / ban / withdraw membership for a cacher who posts obscene logs?
Can I get him banned, do I contact him, or just delete the log?
In this case it's an unregistered newbie.

I agree with most others. If you start a program (country based souvenirs) then you should follow through. There are many of us that enjoy caching in different countries and would like to see a little something for our efforts. I don't think an icon is asking for too much and I'm sure there are a ton of people that would volunteer artwork !
It seems approval of artwork is the hangup, so use the country flag for goodness sake. How could that be controversial?

A year ago we logged geocaches in the Dominican Republic and couldn't believe that we did not receive a souvenir for the country. Guess we were naive newbies eh? We're all for having souvenirs for all countries containing caches and events. We know people very capable of designing souvenirs, so what's the problem?

We activated a coin from oakcoins.com today. We used http://www.geocaching.com/track/ActivationCodeRetrieve.aspx Once we entered our coins tracking number it took us to geocoin club's website where the coin originated. We then filled in the requested info and go the activation code instantly. For all of the coins we own this has worked the best.

No matter what I try none of these methods will take me to the oakcoins webpage, which the geocaching.com page says is required. Server unavailable.
Could someone just give me the activation code please. This is extremely frustrating.
I have never before encountered such problems. TB's come with a generic activation code.

Is there any way to fill out the new cache submission form while offline when internet access is unavailable. Then upload the caches to www.geocaching.com when internet is available?
Could be very handy.

Google has a geocoding Web service. You send it a URL with the lat and lon in it and it returns either XML or JSON with lots of geographical data.
The URL looks like this:
http://maps.google.com/maps/api/geocode/xml?latlng=<lat>,<lon>&sensor=false
where <lat> and <lon> are latitude and longitude in digital degrees.
Here's a sample for you to try, near a country boundary:
http://maps.google.com/maps/api/geocode/xml?latlng=45.500,-73.454&sensor=false
That will show you that you are in Canada. Change the "xml" to "json" to get the response in that format instead. Neither one is particularly human-friendly, but it has the information you want.

You can plug the coordinates into Google and let their maps do the work, or you can download Google Earth.

Can a geocaching event's "created by" name be the same name as my normal geocaching ID?
For example, if I want to have a small geocache event with 5 to 10 permanent, official geocaches, can I simply submit the event and the related permanent geocaches using my already existing geocaching / cache owner's ID?
Or, is it better to create a new Identity for events only?
First a point of clarification - "An event cache should not be set up for the sole purpose of drawing together geocachers for an organized geocache search. Such group hunts are best organized using a discussion forum or an email distribution list."

Events are more for socializing. You do not list a specific set of caches to go after in an Event Listing.
Well, what if it's a picnic event with new, associated, permanent, official geocaches?
That works - the focus should be on the picnic and that day - not the hunt though. Always fun to meet local cachers and share food!!

Anyone else encountering long delays getting caches approved? Reviewer had a concern which I immediately addressed and it has now been weeks since with no reviewer response or approval. Wasaga Beach vicinity.
