HIGHWAY PATROL APPLICANTS
Three blondes were all applying for the last available position on the Texas Highway Patrol.
The detective conducting the interview looked at the three of them and said, "So y'all want to be cops, huh?"
The blondes all nodded.
The detective got up, opened a file drawer and pulled out a folder.
Sitting back down, he opened it and pulled out a picture, and said, "To be a detective, you have to be able to detect. You must be able to notice things such as distinguishing features and oddities, such as scars and so forth."
So saying, he stuck the photo in the face of the first blonde and withdrew it after about two seconds. "Now, " he said, "did you notice any distinguishing features about this man?"
The blonde immediately said, "Yes, I did. He has only one eye!"
The detective shook his head and said, "Of course he has only one eye in this picture! It's a profile of his face! You're dismissed!"
The first blonde hung her head and walked out of the office.
The detective then turned to the second blonde, stuck the photo in her face for two seconds, pulled it back and said, "What about you? Notice anything unusual or outstanding about this man?"
"Yes! He only has one ear!"
The detective put his head in his hands and exclaimed, "Didn't you hear what I just told the other lady? This is a profile of the man's face! Of course you can only see one ear!! You're excused too!"
The second blonde sheepishly walked out of the office.
The detective turned his attention to the third and last blonde and said, "This is probably a waste of time, but..." He flashed the photo in her face for a couple of seconds and withdrew it, saying, "All right,
did you notice anything distinguishing or unusual about this man?"
The blonde said, "I sure did. This man wears contact lenses."
The detective frowned, took another look at the picture and began looking at some of the papers in the folder.
He looked up at the blonde with a puzzled expression and said, "You're absolutely right! His bio says he wears contacts! How in the world could you tell that by looking at his picture?"
The blonde rolled her eyes and said, "Well, Helloooo! With only one eye and one ear, he certainly can't wear glasses."

The flood of American liberals sneaking across the border into Canada has intensified in the past week, sparking calls for increased patrols to stop the illegal immigration. The actions of President Bush are prompting the exodus among left-leaning citizens who fear they'll soon be required to hunt, pray, and agree with Bill O'Reilly.
Canadian border farmers say it's not uncommon to see dozens of sociology professors, animal- rights activists and Unitarians crossing their fields at night. "I went out to milk the cows the other day, and there was a Hollywood producer huddled in the barn," said Manitoba farmer Red Greenfield, whose acreage borders North Dakota. The producer was cold, exhausted and hungry. "He asked me if I could spare a Latte and some free-range chicken. When I said I didn't have any, he left. Didn't even get a chance to show him my screenplay, eh?"
In an effort to stop the illegal aliens, Greenfield erected higher fences, but the liberals scaled them. So he tried installing speakers that blare Rush Limbaugh across the fields. "Not real effective," he said. "The liberals still got through, and Rush annoyed the cows so much they wouldn't give milk."
Officials are particularly concerned about smugglers who meet liberals near the Canadian border, pack them into Volvo station wagons, drive them across the border and leave them to fend for themselves. "A lot of these people are not prepared for rugged conditions," an Ontario border patrolman said. "I found one carload without a drop of drinking water. "They did have a nice little Napa Valley Cabernet, though."
When liberals are caught, they're sent back across the border, often wailing loudly that they fear retribution from conservatives. Rumours have been circulating about the Bush administration establishing re-education camps in which liberals will be forced to drink domestic beer and watch NASCAR races.
In recent days, liberals have turned to sometimes-ingenious ways of crossing the border. Some have taken to posing as senior citizens on bus trips to buy cheap Canadian prescription drugs. After catching a half-dozen young Vegans disguised in powdered wigs, Canadian immigration authorities began stopping buses and quizzing the supposed senior-citizen passengers on Perry Como and Rosemary Clooney hits to prove they were alive in the '50s.
"If they can't identify the accordion player on The Lawrence Welk Show, we get suspicious about their age," an official said. Canadian citizens have complained that the illegal immigrants are creating an organic-broccoli shortage and renting all the good Susan Sarandon movies. "I feel sorry for American liberals, but the Canadian economy just can't support them," an Ottawa resident said. "How many art-history majors does one country need?

An old, tired-looking dog wandered into the yard. I could tell from his collar and well-fed belly that he had a home. He followed me into the house, down the hall, and fell asleep in a corner.
An hour later, he went to the door, and I let him out.
The next day he was back, resumed his position in the hall, and slept for an hour. This continued for several weeks. Curious, I pinned a note to his collar: "Every afternoon, your dog comes to my house for a nap."
The next day he arrived with a different note pinned to his collar:
"He lives in a home with ten children -- he's trying to catch up on his sleep. Can I come with him tomorrow?"

Now that ThePolarBear has finished his puzzle insanity, he gets to go out caching again!
Believe me, puzzle insanity is far from being finished...
We will be doing the Trestle caches on the morning of Jan 19th. We will be camping at the Mortero Palms Trail head on Friday night, the 18th. We will be setting out towards the caches around 7am. We plan on doing the Trestle caches and the Jacumba caches along the way there and back.I don't think I'll be able to make it but if you don't mind, could you tell us where ThePolarBear intends to park his car while he is out hiking?
Too bad you can't make it - I'm about to drop off a solution manual for my latest puzzles in a "secret" cache in ABDSP.

Yesterday, at the Farewelldo7 event, one of my family members was "interrogated" by a cacher for some puzzle info and maybe even got some..... Now, why would a cacher sink so low and do that?!?
Because everything is fair in love and war and geocaching!
Yes! I would probably try to do the same

Interesting. I'm also assuming that the coords can be found with tools readily available to the average geocacher. In other words, I believe that downloading special programs to help solve puzzles isn't allowed, so I'm assuming your puzzle won't require that.

I received a humble request from a frustrated puzzle solver if I could post some additional info on the remaining unsolved puzzles. Specifically which of the unsolved puzzles requires solving only for the last 3 digits for North and West. Well, since it's not a hint per se, I think I can be of service - however, I'm posting it in the forums only for now.

I received a humble request from a frustrated puzzle solver if I could post some additional info on the remaining unsolved puzzles. Specifically which of the unsolved puzzles requires solving only for the last 3 digits for North and West. Well, since it's not a hint per se, I think I can be of service - however, I'm posting it in the forums only for now.

Hi all,
Has anyone heard of some decision by SD County that all geocaches will be removed from SD county parks? I just got an e-mail from Rock Jumper D, don't know who he is or where he got info but apparently he picked up some of my caches and whats me to arrange to pick them up. I e-mailed him back and asked where all this came from and also e-mailed Tom to see if he knew. If anyone gets any info on this other than the Anza Borrego thing let me know.

I just checked my email and I did not see anything about my two caches in that same park. I looked at the county site (the internal network) and I have not seen anything yet that shows that decision being made.

This is news to me... The ABDSP, of course, is on everyone's mind, but I haven't heard anything about any other parks...
I got the same email about my DA-IRY cache. Why does it feel like Geocaching is suddenly the enemy?
this guy didn't even tell me what he took or where he got his info. He also has not responded to my e-mail.
If this is true then I'm glad so many of my caches are puzzle caches!!!

I can understand not giving hints on the solved puzzles until later. Looking forward to them. I've basically given up on a few of them. But often when I did a puzzle out I think of something new, so you never know.
I can't believe you didn't give coordinates at the end of the riddles. All that work and people get stuck. It makes me not want to try to solve the rest of the riddles! I hope the TV one is worth it when I figure it out. The clock one was worth it.

New stats and this is getting really exciting. There are two new virtual finders that are joining the race and HiDude_98 is FTS on Teco #11. I want to extend my welcome to both HiDude_98 and ZSandmann. Maybe we can get some more virtual finders, who knows...
Currently LLOT is still in the lead with 11 finds and TT is trailing with 10 virtuals. Again, devhead is nibbling at their heels with 9 caches - it's a close race. Only 8 puzzles left to solve and 9 to find.

Here we go...
I spent the last two months setting this up to get it out before the end of the year, foregoing several social and caching opportunities (read: did not cache at all), among was a trip to ABDSP. With the recent changes in caching policy for the park it's possible that I'm not going there at all.
My point is, everybody's got an equal amount of time - it's just what you decide to do with it.
As for hints, a two week moratorium is not a long time, or is it?
Here's some general info to complete the Riddles:
I've been reading the weblogs on my site to see what you all been guessing. Many times I've had a good chuckle from the answers but at the same time it's interesting to see how your train of thought gets you to the next level. BTW - there are no foul words in the riddles - I'm sure your mothers will not approve of that kind of language.
For those of you that reached the last riddle - there are no more. Don't waste your time looking for something that is not there (I've seen you). Follow the instructions - all the hints are there and you need to put the clues together to figure out the puzzle. Once you do I'm sure you understand why I made the puzzle the way it is. I'll post more hint's on the final page as necessary.
It's been my impression that the riddles is the favorite(?) 5 star difficulty puzzle.
Here's a genral hint for completing some of the other puzzles.
If you fell for my "traps" in the riddles you realize that I was able to dupe you
even though the answer was right in front of you - i.e. I was able to make you look for something else. Yes, you will encounter more. PB
