  1. PP's remember we are in Eckington land and he publishes late, so sit at your computer from mid evening onwards (solving the multitude of puzzles) and don't go to bed before 1. At the first sign of a cache rush out the door, preferably with the coords and a torch. Did you say you wanted a life? Alternatively do as the main culprit does around here and 'work' an awful lot from home. Hope this helps
  2. They are not that bad, I only have only got two to go. But then puzzle caches are perfect for me. I have a lot of time in the evening to solve them once my family have gone to bed, but during the day I have very little time to go caching, so a brisk 20 min walk to or from work is ideal. For me it is long live the puzzle cache As an aside the series I love/hate puzzles - Mists of Time is designed to get people into puzzle caches. If you do them in order they have large hints about how to solve the next one and the techniques used. Now to try and solve c'mon boys...
  3. I have been waiting for him to finish for the last 3 months
  4. Not sure, but P&T may well have broken that one.... Don't know how many days they did - but It can't have been far off 100 Having not heard of their 'streak' I just looked at their logs and it seems they did 113 consecutive days from March to July this year. Goldpot started on the last day of February and is till going, today will be his 171st. To me this seems a reasonable record to add to the list; however I am a touch biased
  5. As someone who has a few FTF's to my name and maybe has been known to go out in the small hours I probably count as shark. Well after reading this I have been converted. For this cache I have stated my intention to collect and the time I will do so, giving nearly 12 hours for anybody to pick up the FTF. OK so the puzzle is fairly hard and my main 'rival/partner in crime' is stuck in France; but it is a start. On a more serious note the competitive nature of the FTF scene where I live (Surrey/Sussex borders) has meant that I have made lots of new friends. There is the banter on the cache page and on the trads you can bet your life that you'll meet someone at the cache if you go quick enough. Although the seven account holders who converged on GC13ZZX was a little out of the ordinary. Anyway enough of my ramblings I ought to do some work.
  6. Regards the common sense approach. The following Waverley Council page states that all footpaths are open except where they pass through the infected property (Admittedly this is only for the southern protection zone). Also DEFRA explain here why they want the countryside left open. I would suggest that any countryside user whether cacher, dog walker, cyclist etc should do as they would before but obey any closure notices (As you legally should) plus bear in mind the simple rules mentioned by JackieC. My two pennies worth Cheers Gary (An east Surrey cacher)
  7. .............having reviewed some of these I totally agree with Mark & Lynne, they can be real brain bashers, get down to Dorking!! E Having spent the best part of a year solving all of these caches I can say that they are varied and interesting so if you want to look at how devious a puzzle can be they are a good place to start. Particular favourites are GCTGBY and GCZEXC G
  8. Thanks for welcoming me to the 'club' , I thought sfab may be joining us but he seems to have stopped in the eighties. I don't think my streak is any more worthy I just like doing puzzle caches. Besides you managed to get yours all over the country apart from two holidays mine were just to and from work and out in the evening. The problem is I don't know how to stop it has become a routine. Although I am sure one day I'll go out for a late night one and DNF it, I had two near misses on the way to a 100.
  9. Oops you are quite right, I should have given it some thought before typing away.
  10. Just to say that you have nothing to worry about with your cache but below is a quick summary so that you can have some feedback The coords were well within the limitations of my GPS in my view excellent. The 1 star for terrain I think is correct although the first wheelchair user to the cache may like to confirm that. The contents of the cache were excellent far better than most caches I have been to. The 1.5 star difficulty is probably correct, the cache is well hidden, if a couple of cachers struggle then you could bump it up to 2, but 1.5 is good as a start. This is being picky so you may want to ignore it. The only problem you may get is in the autumn it may become visible from one of the footpaths and attract unwanted attention ( As I left the site I could just about make it out through the leaves once I knew exactly where it was). if it it does start to become visible a plastic bag will probably make it look unimportant and not worth the trip to investigate The main thing is this was a very good first cache and I look forward to doing others of yours, especially if you put out some harder ones (I am a difficulty star tart) PS couldn't find the €20 note
  11. For the moment I am top of the average difficulty ratings but as only a fraction of all cachers are on the site I am sure that will not last. Also MBFace is top of the terrain table markandlynn the biggest logs table and allieballie the wordiest loggers so not a bad for Britain I see Goldpot that you only have a about another 60 days to go to get in the consecutive days table.
