  1. I'll try and get ahold of Jamie to post any finds for him. I'm also going to attempt a link up and hunt a few with him.
  2. Dang! that was my line! The stale ammo can smell is a combo of stale air, paint, and a light coating on the cartridges. Seriously, I get excited by that particular smell! Now that funky smell, that's generally from some bacteriological or fungal action, and I don't believe anyone likes THAT! Wiping the container out with a sufficient cleaner and tossing the contents if they cannot also be cleaned in a similar fashion is in order.

  4. With sparse roving bands of people w/ AK47's... Would that be a level 5 difficulty cache?

  6. If you have a number of virtual caches that are objects that will not change much (like a 200yr old tree memorial, a museum, or such), they require much less maint than a cache. So you could 'manage' a significant # of these. I also believe whole heartedly on the support issue. In the Memphis area we have a number of caches that were abandoned when the cache owner moved across country. Since then the cache's either became lost or declined into a state of dis-repair. A number of the locals would periodically reload or fix things up, but we couldn't do much about the cache page descriptions as we didn't 'own' the site. Most recently 3 of the sites were finally adopted by well meaning locals, with a 4th in questioned status as it is in a clearly marked 'No Trespassing' area. We (the locals) have proposed archiving the site, or to allow one of us to adopt and move it as well. The 4th site is the 1st geocache site in the state of Tennessee.
  7. Jaime, don't tell me he caches in OUR neck of the woods dressed like THAT! With all the briars and sticker bushes would makes runs in his hosery....
  8. What if a person caches in a country, (eg... Slobovia), and the country goes through some geo-political restructuring, and is now 2 countries. Does the cache go invalid, count for both countries, or (most likely) count only for the sub country where the cache existed? Any similarities of Slobovia to any presently existing country is a darn shame!

  10. Attila, I checked the site you mentioned. I sure can yhink of easier ways to get a tootsie pop. Now if the guy had said that there was a 1 ounce gold coin or a 10 ounce silver bar in it. Then I think I could justify the hike he recommends!
  11. I forgot! They moved from that old address!

  15. I can just see trying to give directions from a GPSr to a 3d world country cabbie so that we can leave or get a TB while on a layover.... "No no! Proceed 900 meters and turn left...LEFT!!! Ack! You passed it!!!!"

  17. I started Geocaching about 2 months ago and it has REALLY made an impact on my life. I've lost 15 pounds, 5 inches off my waist, have firmed up, and feel much more active and healthier. My wife's pleased with the results too, as we've spent more time together outside and with the kids too! (I have 4 boys and 7 girls) I've also been introduced to a wide variety of neat parks and trails that I'd otherwise have never known about.
  18. As I had said on one of my other posts earlier today.... 1) "How well will this hold up against a bear..."?
