  1. The Patchwork Cache in Corvallis OR may be wheelchair accessible. We found it several months ago; if I remember correctly, from the parking area a very short paved path goes to a boardwalk over the wetlands. I don't recall any steps on the way to the cache (confirm with cache owner?). If so, retrieving the cache should be easy if one is able to lean over and reach. 2. As I recall, one can drive right up to within a foot or so of this cache, open your car door and lean out to retrieve it: The Drive In Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  3. O Syn, where art thou?...oh wait, that's Oregone... Having an event at the Edgefield would be really cool. Doug enjoys playing golf at their Pub Course. --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  4. That is a really cool link, Oregone! I looked up our house. Hah, we have more square footage and bathrooms! You mean the body was found by that house? Or it was the owner's body that was found? --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  5. quote:Originally posted by GeoNap:3 more GeoNap coins out there... waiting to move along or be added to someone's SI collection... ;-) 0019 - 06/22/03 - The Pipeline*: (still there according to log) This is an incredible cache. 0020 - 6/27/03 - Rock of Ages: This one is one of the best I've done! 0021 - 6/27/03 - She Feels Like A Remora: great hunt... extremely well done cache. Hey Geonap, you're making this WAY too easy for people to find your coins! I say if they really want one, people will periodically check your cache page and recent logs. You're being WAY too 'nice!' --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  6. I'm curious... What cache might that near? We're not too familiar with that side of the city... and I'm NOT trying to get caching hints. Just want to know what cache(s) to stay away from! --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  7. Ah man, I was just getting ready to e-mail you...denied! Just know that you've got a back-up out there! --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  8. Sounds like a great idea, tell us more! Doug and I are in the beginnings of planning a caching/camping trip to the Ochocos sometime in August, we just won't know which dates for a little while yet. There are several Mt. Hood area caches we haven't gotten to yet. August would be a great time to do this--a bit cooler at that elevation, and a great camping opportunity! --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  9. Here's another that we liked: Something Special, which was fun to access via a maze of logging roads. Just down the trail a few hundred feet from the cache is University Falls. Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  10. Here in the Pacific NW, Dan and Janet have a great series of 6 waterfall caches in Southwest Washington. Check out their 'WaSucally' series (Chinook Indian for 'sound of rushing water'. Hubby and I did all of them last Sunday, accessible only by forest service roads (a really nice loop that took a few hours) Here is WaSucally: Dougan Falls to get you started. Check out the photos for each page, they are gorgeous and really make you want to go! Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!

I was literally addicted to video games when I was a pre-teen/teen (and we're talkin' early/mid-80's!) I fondly remember Tempest and Centipede and the sit-down Pacman machines. When Dragon's Lair came out, we were all mesmerized. How technology has advanced! To be honest, I am a sore loser, and may choose not to participate. It'd be fun to watch, however. Doug might like to participate. Maybe those that wish could get together earlier and find some of the downtown-ish caches? --laurak OMG, they have Q-bert and Frogger and Asteroids?!?! I may have to re-think my position... maybe I should bust out the ol' GBA and polish up on the Frogger... Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  12. Oh Oregone, what is SpoonDog gonna think of us now? Or should I say think of YOU now? I was rather surprised to not find a link to PBR's site! Have you been converted? --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  13. Welcome, Spoondog! A great way you might start your geocaching 'career' is by finding Un-Original which is mere yards from where the very first geocache was hidden, and this whole game started! (Un-Original was our very first cache just over a year ago). Or type your zipcode into the 'hide & seek a cache' page, and see what's close to you and sounds interesting. If you like strenuous hikes, they're out there! Incredible views--out there! Hidden falls and lakes? Yep! Caches 50 feet from the car? You betcha. There are caches out there for just about everyone! Keep an eye on these Northwest boards, 'cause we have Portland-area cacher's get-togethers regularly, and you won't want to miss 'em! In fact, here are some coming up: A challenge this summer? Trading Caches Lookin' forward meeting you on the trail! --laurak of dasein Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!

Just my $0.02 worth EELBOY I gotta disagree; GPS the dog was cute the very first time I saw it, but now it's gotten old. Not an original anymore. We prefer human names for our animals. Among others, we have (or have had ) Fred, Klaus, Manfred and Ernie. --laurak of dasein Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  15. Speaking of great views, Doug and I did Three Corner Rock today. It's been there since September last year, and only one other visitor. Why, we sure don't know. It is a marvelous place! This may be a good one for you, GeoNap! --laurak of dasein Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  16. This is defenitely on our to do list, but not until late summer when the channel's dried up. Let's do a 2925 cache event and kick this cache's a$$, make a big ol' trail out to it! 20 people with machetes can make a trail faster than one! Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  17. The second Champoeg Redux cache has been submitted. See Champoeg Leap Frog pending approval. --dasein Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!

Seriously, would you like to make arrangements to pick it up, or retrieve it at the next event cache? Only a few dregs were left in the bottom. It's all nice and clean now. --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!

It's 9:00 all the windows and doors are open, we have fans going in every room and it is still 86 degrees in here. Central A/C is way worth it... we have ours set at 66 degrees. We'll never live without it again! Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  20. Number of finds logged on the website is not necessarily the number actually found. I bet that there are many cachers who are not interested in logging their finds on the website. A good friend of ours who geocaches has logged only a few finds on the website. Although we can see why finding a number of caches before placing one would be preferred, it should not be mandatory to do so. Otherwise, we would miss out on some great caches and locations! While some people prefer to concentrate on finding caches, others are more excited about placing caches for others to find. We're sure that most every cache placer's intentions are good. Like other areas in life... some geocache placers seem to naturally have the gift, while some don't. Regardless, we can't think of a single found cache that we haven't enjoyed (though a few have been rather odd...) --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!

    Igor lives...

This is SOOO wierd... Unbeknownst to me until this evening, a co-worker of mine, who sits not 10 feet from me, is performing in the same Iolanthe production as 'Igor.' And I played clarinet in the orchestra for a community production of H.M.S. Pinafore back in the 80's. Whoa! --laurak of dasein Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  22. Several items were left behind at the picnic site. Doug and I have in our posession: 1) Manda's black cap and 3 like pairs of work gloves. 2) A 'sun tea' glass container with sunflowers on it. Contact us via e-mail to set up retrieval, or we can bring the items to the next local geo-get-together. Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  23. We haven't yet run into a snake other than your cute garden-variety. When I was a kid visiting aunt and uncle in Kingman Arizona, we all used to carry rocks in our pockets to scare off rattlers should we come across one. Don't know if it works or is a help, but thought I'd mention it. --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  24. Doug and I spent Friday evening through Monday morning in Slinger's neck of the woods, and had a ball! We were impressed with the laid back feel of it all, and how empty the forest was once you got out of town. We like that. Ya' have some really great backroads around there, and absolutely gorgeous forests! Doug went to the all-you-can-eat oyster dinner and couldn't stop raving about the tasty fresh oysters and crab. We were interested in checking out the oyster shucking, but it was held during prime caching time, so you know which one one out! Now I have MANY caches to log, must be going... --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
  25. quote:Originally posted by oregone:Since you're heading up there, i have to give another plug for my favorite cache of all time... Oh yes, Half Moon is at the top of our list for Saturday morning! Doug says he doesn't care if we find another cache this weekend as long as we find that one! I personally won't be satisfied until we find that one and many more! Sorry that I temporarily digressed this thread. As you were! --laurak Temporarily French Polynesia's most prolific geocachers!
