I wonder, for geocaching, how much I REALLY need to connect it to the computer. You can put in the coordinates by hand, can't you? I don't need street maps and such. Just geocaching. Adamus No you don't "need" to connect the GPS to the computer but it is faster to upload the coordinates from the computer then to add them one by one.
  3. So now that everyone is in agreement, all we need is a place to hide the body. I know of some places that the body will never be found.
  4. Heck just hide a cache on your front porch and then do a search and see how far away it is from the center of the zip code. I know I am trying to be difficult. :&gt

I'll give you 100 + shipping. respond to egriffiths@ambertech.com That was a very good price, the cheapest I have seen these new is $165, was that a clearance item? or maybe an opened returned item? I am interested in one at that price range.

Just goes to prove that stupid people has ebay account also.
  7. quote:Originally posted by John & Bretta:It's really not that silly if you think about it from a different standpoint. What is "silly" is that people don't bid what they are willing to pay. They want to watch it go higher and see what happens. Really, this is the "silly" part. Bid the highest you are willing to pay. Period. If someone else has a proxy bid higher than that, then they will get it -- and you can be done. If someone else does NOT have a higher proxy bid, then you will be the high bidder -- and win if no one beats you, of course. Makes perfect sense -- and means one bid and then nothing to worry about. Or, you could snipe if you'd rather. In any case, it isn't the system that is silly, in my opinion. Proxy bidding works -- if people don't act so "silly" when using it. - John... The above statement says it all, when you bid, either at first or when sniping, bid the highest price you are willing to pay. You can tell the "newbie" ebayers but the number of bids they place for an item, with each bid a few dollars higher then the last one. The system works if you are smart enough to know how to use it. If you nickle and dime the bidding process (and lose the item) or let the competitive nature make you over bid and pay too much then shame on you. I have bought many items on ebay and most were bargins, I have also bid on many items that went for more then I was willing to pay, I never secondguess myself over a bid. Some rules to help: 1. before bidding figure out a maximim price you are willing to pay. 2. make only one bid and use your maximum price 3. you can snipe your bid or bid early but never fret over lost items.
  8. quote:Originally posted by floopie:As noble as it may seem, isn't it very generally seen as poor etiquette to point to better deals on the net elsewhere? I think it just let others know where good deals can be found. poor etiquette would be telling someone after the fact that they could have saved $$$$ somewhere else when you knew in advance of the good deal.
  9. Check out your local "wally world", look in the jewelry department for a selection of lanyards (or key holders for hanging around your neck)

And when he post garbage (or outright lies) then I feel the need to set the record straight. I started out with a real intrest in this but somewhere along the way I lost all intrest in buying from this user, but since he directs posts at me then I respond. I don't keep coming here just for spite, only because I get the notifications and feel the need to tell the truth.
  12. I guess my point is your price is unrealistic. Maybe there is a sucker out there willing to pay you more then it is worth, but not me or any other smart buyer. Only a sucker will pay prices for used when you can get new for same or maybe even less considering free shipping for the new ones.

Bid away (if you like)! http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3042199517&category=34289 What a crock!! I did a search and I only found a few used ones and they ranged in price from $175 to $230, and new ones selling from $238 and up. And almost all of these do not include shipping, so that will add another $5 to $15 depending on the seller. I would be willing to go the $175 but that would be about all for a used one.
  16. quote:Originally posted by Rubberhead:HitsMan and Chris, Ignore them buddy. These guys don't even seem to understand capitalism. You’ve got every right to seek the absolute highest selling price. Ducks - Flying, great tasting, geocaches of meat I think the problem is you don't seem to understand "capitalism" You can "want" twice what you paid for an item, but we sure don't have to pay that for it. Haven't you heard? it is a buyers market, and most buyers like to save as much money as they can. This whole thread is a waste, there is too many other GPS's for sale to bother with a PIA. No more time for this banter, I am off to do a search for a deal on a GPS.
  17. quote:Originally posted by HitsMan and Chris:I'm not being condescending. I just set a price I was comfortable with (which is significantly below what I paid when I bought it 4 months ago). 'If you expect to get anything near the price you paid for it 6 months ago then you are really a fool, the price for new has dropped 30% or more in that time period.' You don't have to buy it, if it's out of your range, or you find better options elsewhere. 'Sounds like a good idea to me' I'm expecting the final auction price (based on bidding) to be less, and the reserve is significantly less than the Buy It Now price. You would know that if you bid on the item. 'by bidding on an item you can't find out the reserve price' If no one thinks my reserve price is reasonable, I'm the only one who loses by wasting eBay fees. I'm not sure why you are so angry. ' I am not angry, I am realistic, I asked a simple question and you came back with an attitude. Are you ashamed of the price you are asking? If anyone ever asks me what my reserve is I just tell them. No wonder you have 2 negative feedback, you are too hard to get along with.' If you're not interested, just don't bid. No need to have an argument about it. 'I never bid until the last few hours in any case, and any auction over 3 days is just a waste of time for the seller, and if you was an experienced Ebayer you would know that.
  18. quote:Originally posted by HitsMan and Chris:When you bid, it will tell you immediately if you didn't meet the reserve. I added a "Buy it now" option. Gee does it look like I just fell off the turnip truck or what?? I thought you was serious about selling this and saving someone a few dollars. But I guess not. Your price: Used Garmin Vista $249 Shipping $11 Total $260 Amazon (new Vista) $254 Free Shipping Total $254 Includes full waranty I really don't like smart@sses, I was serious about this but wasn't expecting you to be so condescending.
  19. If you don't mind me asking, what is the reserve set at? I don't want to wait 9 days to see if it is too high. Did you consider adding the "buy it now" feature?
  20. quote:Originally posted by The Alethiometrists:I noticed all the waypoints on the "ol' yeller" were gone when it came back - but there were only a few entered on that unit (and I think only one with a name, "home," as opposed to a default number). Hopefully, the Venture(which has a large number of waypoints stored, plus a couple of routes) will keep its memory, but just in case, I wrote down the info on the ones I cared most about before packing it up. Didn't the Venture come with a cable to connect to your computer? All you need to do is open EasyGPS and you can download all your waypoints to it and save then on your HD, then load them back to the GPS anytime you need them. This also works for the "ole yeller".
  21. quote:Rick, I don't have one to sell, but I have some info about eBay, if you (or anybody else) are interested (if not, you might as well skip the rest of my post.) When you see the same name bid 6 times in a row, it isn't a weirdo making 6 different bids. It's a result of what they call proxy bidding. It means your bid is the _most_ you'd pay, and you want eBay to automatically bid more than any bid that's under that bid. eBay keeps your maximum bid a secret, only upping your bid by increments as needed. For instance, say the current bid on something $50, and I'm willing to spend $100. I bid $100, but eBay posts my bid as $51. Now say you bid $60. Your bid won't register since I've already told eBay that I would pay $100 before you even bid. Instead, eBay _automatically posts a $61 bid from me and tells you that you have already been outbid. Same thing if someone else bids $65 - it shows a $66 bid from me. And so on until it looks_ like I bid 6 times in a row. Only when someone bids more than my $100 will their name show up as a bid. Actually you are so very wrong with your explanation. When you see where someone has posted several bids in a row each for a few dollars more then the last one, it is because they are a newbie (or a moron) The real fact about the proxy bidding is, lets say I post a max bid of $100 and the starting bid was $25, Ok let's say my bid was the first one, it shows up as $25, then when a newbie comes along and see the $25 bid, he thinks that is good deal and bids $26, but of course he is outbid because my max bid was much higher, so he thinks he will up it to $30 and again he gets outbid, so he goes to $35, outbid, then $40, outbid yet. The only bids that shows up is his bids and not mine (since my bid was already there) this is why you see the same person with several bids, and it is not the person who made the higher first bid as explained above. That info was so wrong, anyone who knows anything about Ebay knows the the way it works. I just wish people wouldn't pass bogus info on a fact when it is clear they know nothing about ebay. Get your facts straight please.
  22. quote:Originally posted by Shadow's:Im just sick and tired of biding on e-bay. Look at the biding and see the same name bid 6 times in a row. This is a sure way to spot the "newbies" The reason they have some many bids is because they are only bidding a little over the posted "high" bid, and it may take them several bids before they either finally become the high bidder or the price gets too high and they look for other bargins.
  23. quote:Originally posted by Shadow's:Im just sick and tired of biding on e-bay. Look at the biding and see the same name bid 6 times in a row. Or just a crazy bid to start with. Nothing to stop the seller from biding up under a different name and have you ever tried to contact e-bay? Good luck in doing so. I am looking for a Color or the next one down at a good price. Not a used one at a new price. Anyone out there have one? Lets talk. Rick There is a trick to bidding on ebay to prevent this from happening, many people use this trick, it is called "sniping" where you wait until the last minute or so and then place your bid. I have gotten some real good bargins like this but also I have lost some auctions to others "snipers". I usally wait until it gets down to one minute and I have my "max" bid ready then I post it. If it goes higher then I was willing to pay then so be it, but if your bid is highest then usally there is not enough time for someone else to make another bid. When you wait until the last minute you run the risk of slow internet and your bid may not get posted in time. It takes some practice but it is worth it.
  24. The software is a needed item, and to put it into focus better, think of it as buying a new car, but you aren't sure if you need to buy the tires or not. Sure you can use the car but to make it handy then you need the tires. Look on Ebay for a better deal maybe.
