What was the name of the letter box cache?
This looks like the nearest letterbox cache. Since they both have charcol in the titles.

I have had a few strange things happening today. Seems I have been getting notifications about logs needing to be replaced, Updated coordinates for another cache and so on.
The problem is Im not watching these caches and sort of wonder why im getting these emails.??
Anyone got any ideas?
BTW, the two caches i hav gotten notifications about today are GCQY2T: An Impossible Evil & GCPQ7W: Rock, Paper, River

On June 4th I hit 28 finds. That was a long 11.5 hours. Started in Reno,Nv. And made a circle around Downieville,Ca - Quincy,Ca then home again. Had over 15 of them done before lunch.
Can't wait to do that again.

I was wondering this same thing,, Would be a cool Premium Member option.
Chris
Is there a way to do a query to find all geocachers in my state. It would be a great tool!
Thanks!

Same thing happened to me on the 4th. I could be in direct view of the sky and my Garmin Legend would loose all satelites. Kinda upset me enough to want to toss it out the car window.
But if others are having the same problems.. who knows.

Is there a way we can doctor up a sample Geocache Listing? I only ask this because I have been asked to talk to a Scout Troop soon and want to creat a few sample caches around the meeting location so they can find them. The sample pages would be needed just for the one evening. After the meeting the caches would be loaded up and be done with.
So my question is, Is this a do-able option? or can someone send me an html page that I can use to doctor up?

I agree with Blue Ninja,,
I once had a 500 mile conversation when I was using just a Radio Shack HTX202 (handheld). I was in Taft,California and chatting on a repeater up in Auburn,California. You just can't beat "Tropospheric Ducting".
And to think I was only using 5 watts and the stock rubber duck antenna.

I usually bring an HT with me when I go out caching on my motorcycle. Always have the mobile on when im in my truck .. But why not seeing about just using one of the IRLP reflectors as a 24/7 geocache chat freq? That way you can talk to a cacher around the world while your both out caching.??
Just a thought..

When you just enjoy going out and trying to find them.

Try this, Soak it in water then freeze it. Once frozen make a mold of it using plaster of paris. Then you will have a very durable long lasting horse turd. One that can be copied very easily if you keep the mold.
I think it's a cool idea.

Ok Guys,
I have another Topo! question for you.
Do I need to buy the California version to view that states detailed maps? Or can I just find some add-on maps for the state of California?

I guess I will have to program the GMRS and FRS frequencies into my scanner.

I'm going to have to start one up here in town...
Glad to hear it.. You got my support if you need it.

Note that with NG Pocket PC, you can attach a GPS to the PPC to traack your current position on NG map in the PPC.
Is there a special cable that you use with a PPC? I am using an HP 1910 PPC.
http://pc-mobile.net/ might be one spot. What GPS do you use. Do a search on the web site.

And if you really dont want to start a long conversation on IRLP, just connect to node # 9990- This is the Echo Reflector. It will repeat what ever you say into it.
This reflector will let you hear firsthand how you sound through IRLP.

You got that right Marky,
Dan N6VYQ is a very nice and smart guy. I used his older UHF repeater system when I lived near Bakersfield,Ca to talk all over the state of California.
Glad to hear he's still got some working repeaters on the air.
Chris KA7CJH
Dan, N6VYQ, the owner of the IRLP node and the four repeaters linked to it, after listening in to the net gave me permission to use it for the net, so now if my main IRLP node is down I have a backup. He's a pretty cool guy, who at one time had 9 linked repeaters covering about 1/2 of California. Now there are just 4, but it's still covers 1/3 of California and he owns, operates, and funds them all out of his own pocket. How cool is that?

Well, instead of breaking the law. Why not just search for a ham in your area and see if they can help you learn. You mentioned you have a few bought a few books already. Why not see if you can learn by "hands-on"?
I think just about any ham would be willing to help. Even myself.

Thanks guys,
Now that I can do some of the basic things with this program, Im finding out I like it. But it looks like I might still go out and buy a copy of mapsource just to change the basemap. Unless I can find someone in my area that has it.
I like the detail of the maps, and finding coordinates seems very easy. Even for the newbie.. Anyone want to swap a few Topo! files?

Let me get this straight. You have applied for a Premium Member upgrade?
Is this a month to month or yearly upgrade?
when I paid for my PM I just logged in and gave my credit card info. About 15 hours later I had my account upgraded. If your paying monthly then I beleive you need to enter the -S activation code in order for it to take affect.
Dont know is this was any help..
Chris

Check out GPScity.com or Offroute.com. They both have good eals on GPS'rs. I just bought a replacement Garmin Etrex Legend from offroute. Quick shipping and a good price too.
I could have gone and picked it up since they are just downtown from me, (Reno). That would have saved shipping cost.
