  1. I just looked at the area your cache is in and there are at least 30 caches in a mile radius. Quite a few of them are yours (including the one you are conflicting with).

I actually have tears from the laughter.

    michelle

I am beyond laughter -- I am stunned!! In fact, I am stunned and by SEVERAL facts in this case, the capstone of which is that the OP is the owner of the conflicting cache. Sigh! Life is quite amazing!

I don't care how many caches you have placed per square mile..etc. etc. ........I STILL want a

heads-up when those Blackberries get ripe! Mmmmmmmm...Blackberry Cobbbbblerrrrrrrrr! :)B):)

  2. I made a mystery cache that took me over two hours to make. The reviewer said that it was 110 feet to close to another cache and that it can't be published unless there is a natural barrier.

There IS a natural barrier. It's called big Creek. You have to take a route that is 0.21 miles to get from one cache to another by taking a bridge. There is no other way except for wading through the creek full of high mud water and thick blackberry bushes.

I hope you guys can help me out!

  3. I am kinda one of those people who will tell you I think your 20th Black Film Cannister Under a Bridge/In a Fence Post/On a Railing is uncreative and has wasted what was potentially a good space that might have actually had a ) a decent hide that required SOME effort to find other than stopping the car and rolling down the window to reach and b ) might have been worthy of an actual expenditure for a Real Container of Appreciable Size.

Just because you've placed a cache doesn't make it a good cache.

My sentiments exactly!! That's why I always suggest a "BIG PILE OF STICKS"! In a field. With a single

BIG tree. And a sensible size container, up to and including footlocker! :):)B)

  4. I'm just taking a brief survey to see if anyone has ever had a problem with another cacher. I live in a small college town and up until recently everything has been going fine, but now that the students are starting to come back I am starting to have a problem.

We have a new cacher in town that seems to love to go out of his way to criticise my three caches. He made a good point about the first one being in a high-erosion area (which it is, but everywhere is an erosion area on the shore of Lake Superior) but the second and third were almost to the point of being rude. The best example I have is one I placed smack dab in the middle of campus. I rated it as a 1/1 and said it will only be available at night when the students are not walking by. He found it and said that it was "too easy" and that he would have placed it elsewhere and would have made a better looking (micro) container.

Anyone have any suggestions. For now I'm just going to ignore it and go about caching. Can't let one person ruin the game.

    Thanks,

    Robert

Robert, I checked out all the responses on your 3 caches and failed to find where this person said anything

about making a "better looking micro container". From my computer, he only replied to two of your caches. Overall I did not see his posts as very derogatory but maybe a little critical with lack of tact. He also said overall one of your caches was good.

The replies about foot traffic causing erosion etc. may have been a little over the top, especially since he was probably putting his size 12 Waffle Stompers all over the dunes also.

The remark about how the micro could have been hidden in the group of pine trees is just his personal choice.

I also read about 30 of this guys replies to other caches and his overall tone was pleasant.

I did read one disturbing post from this cacher about you to another cacher. He was applauding a particular cache and made a statement to the fact that "you" (mentioning your handle) could learn something from that cache.

That was a little far out for me I think.

Summary....The guy is not "out to get you". He is probably just a person concerned about the environment where people walk around to get caches and disturb the land. But he doesn't mind plodding around with his big brogans because they don't do damage like "other folks" brogans.

    Have fun with your caches!

    Chuck

  5. A cacher should bury a cach ONLY when his last name is "KIDD" or if they happen to bear

a strong resemblance to "Johnny Depp"! <_<:huh:

What if the cachers last name is Blackbeard? Shouldn't ALL Pirates be allowed to bury treas...er caches?

Doesn't matter, Pirates do what they want anyway. :P

LOL! Sorry about that Cpt.!!!!!!!:ph34r::P

  6. Over the last few days, a number of people have posted that, if confronted with a cache in a location where muggles are present, they would openly make the find, not caring if they are exposing the cache.

Most of the time, these caches have the same thing in common:

    1. Cache was intentionally placed in "full view" of the general public.
    2. The majority of these caches are 35mm canisters hidden underneath lamppost covers, in busy parking lots.
    3. This type of cache almost always was placed on private property "sans permission."

My thinking is that this is rude. It is disrespectful to the cache owner and any cacher who may attempt to find this cache after you.

I've never been last to find on this type of cache.

It also risks danger to the game itself, as these actions are much more likely to result in LEO intervention.

I love your deliberate spin :o If anyone is endangering the game, it is the boneheads, who lack common sense, and keep insisting on placing caches in foolhardy spots to begin with. As for increasing the results of LEO intervention, I place most of the blame on the cacher who exhibits blatant jackassery, by hiding caches in this type of spot to begin with.

I seriously doubt that the people who take these actions would like their caches similarly exposed, whether in an urban environment or on-trail.

What do you think of this practice?

Based on the amount of effort that this type of cacher used to placed this type of cache, I doubt they care much.

I do try to be stealthy when searching for a cache. I'll try to wait for a good opportunity to get it or sometimes even leave and come back. But To be honest, i'm not going to worry about it too much when the cache owner purposely places one in a spot where muggles routinely abound. Yes i'll try and grab it when no one is looking but there's not much else i can do when the cache is in a lightpole or in the bushes in front of a busy store entrance. :)

You could come back at another time or ignore the cache.

When the OP stated "What do you think of this practice?" I thought it was a request for input and not a request for opportunities to criticize the inputs.

    My misunderstanding; sorry.

Very, very well-put! Thank you! My observation exactly! What I have seen here, instead of willingness to hear answers to the question, is the OP taking every chance to lecture others on how they should hunt lame urban micros

    Ditto

Help! I am lost in all the ...."quotes"...."unquote"! :)

Uhhhhhhh...were we talking about McToys??! Oh Boy! :):):D

  7. May I suggest that before submitting your posts you type them in a word-processing application which will allow you to check spelling, grammar and punctuation? This will make it much easier for other forum readers to understand the wealth of innovative ideas you wish to share.

You put that more eloquently than i may have. Thank you.

I can hardly understand several of their posts.

Decrypt man......DECRYPT! Ya gotta click on decrypt!!! :ninja::D:)

  8. I see the increase in puzzles as an inevitable geovolution to a higher level of consciousness.

I can FEEL it!! I can actually feel myself ascending to that higher level of awareness!!

Wait a minute.....sorry! It was only GAS! Gotta watch that Mexican food! :D:D:D

  9. Hey, I agree!

I think all caches should be in a big ole field.........

With one big ole tree in that field.......

And a big Pile-O-Sticks under the tree! :(

And the more McToys......THE BETTER! :(

    Sing along now:

There's a tree in the middle of the field,

There's a tree in the middle of the field,

    There's a tree, there's a tree,

There's a tree in the middle of the field.

There's a pile under the tree in the middle of the field,

There's a pile under the tree in the middle of the field,

    There's a pile, there's a pile,

There's a pile under the tree in the middle of the field.

There's a cache in the pile under the tree in the middle of the field,

There's a cache in the pile under the tree in the middle of the field,

    There's a cache, there's a cache,

There's a cache in the pile under the tree in the middle of the field.

There's a Mctoy in the cache in the pile under the tree in the middle of the field,

There's a Mctoy in the cache in the pile under the tree in the middle of the field,

    There's a Mctoy, there's a Mctoy,

There's a Mctoy in the cache in the pile under the tree in the middle of the field.

There's an crack in the Mctoy in the cache in the pile under the tree in the middle of the field,

There's an crack in the Mctoy in the cache in the pile under the tree in the middle of the field,

There's an crack, there's an crack,

There's an crack in the Mctoy in the cache in the pile under the tree in the middle of the field.

Well, what else is going to be in a McToy? Aren't they usually broken?

Hmm... maybe I should use this song in a hint... What do you think? :D

    Love it! :):D:)

  10. You want to talk MONEY......take up BOWLING! Yeah, that's right....bowling. We bowl on a league and

average 4 nights a week to the lanes...sometimes 6. Yes, we eat..drink..and bowl and buy all the little extras that are available. 50... 60 bucks a night is nothing for us to spend. Wifey is always on the lookout

for a "cuter" bowling outfit or a ball with "sparkles" or new shoes or something.

My LEAST expensive sport/hobby is caching! I don't go very much, but even if I did, it would not come close to my bowling expenses.

  11. I've seen a few posts where it seems to really annoy the heck out of some people when a cacher is a "FTF hound". Some folks really enjoy being FTF and are willing to go out in the night or early morning or in terrible weather for a FTF. For some reason that really seems to make some folks angry. What do you think? Does it annoy you or do you just not really care or what?

Personally, I don't understand why it should upset anybody but..........

As long as they leave lots of McToys and replace the Big Pile Of Sticks.......HEY..I don't care! :D

  12. I helped a new cacher place a cache.I don't own the cache,only he does.There's already been an FTF.Can I find it or no?

(No this is not hypothetical-There really is a cache I helped with here.PM me for the GC# if you like but I'm not posting it)

Sure! Go for that smiley! Ever heard of "selective amnesia"?

You just "forget" allllllllll about that cache! Then.......enter the cords........VOILA!

    ;)
