  1. It is still early in the year, it is quite possible what is out there will melt out.
  2. Sorry, please post day and time and hike difficulty. Thanks. Or did this happen already? Announcement was made back at this post: http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=288139&view=findpost&p=5124965 As stated in the quote, the hike began with a group of one. Moi. You were guaranteed to have good company then!
  3. Having done this cache I wanted to offer a word of advice on the approach. As you are going up the logging road, don't go straight to it, lots of BW that way. Rather, follow the road up until you are near parallel to it then just walk the old roadbed toward it. Still not an easy path but much easier than the BW. Monique
  4. The presentation was excellent and it was really nice meeting Bruce. Thank you for posting about this GA, I enjoyed learning more on this subject.
  5. Sounds very cool, I have found one or two of his caches. I may be in Everett that day and if so I will definitely be there! Here's hoping.
  6. Just a quick note to give you a heads up that some CO's do not like pics of their caches posted online. Takes away some of the fun of someone finding them. Good luck! And happy caching.
  7. Yes, Thank you Moun10Bike. GrnXnham and I were just saying last weekend how much we love the maps/trails and how much we appreciated all that you do.
  8. I would like to take this opportunity to thank GrnXnham for maintaining/replacing this cache up to now (I was with them the last time) so that the cache lived on.
  9. I am not familiar with the area, what caches would be on the hike? I can't tell from the map which direction it would go.
  10. Funny, I almost went up Wedge last weekend! Did Tyler Peak instead, 6300 ft and snow free. GrnXnham and I discussed on the way up whether this would be a good HOTM. Probably not, gain about 3200 ft in about 2.7 miles.
  11. While I appreciate the good thoughts, I am sure that any of you would have done the same. How could I think of doing otherwise when two sweet, lost, scared dogs came running up to me with so much happiness to see me. I would have like to just have hiked them down the mountain but the old dog was injured and I knew that it would take me a long time to carry him all the way out. The true hero here is the man from the humane society, when finding out the sheriff didn't have a key to the gate, who was willing to hike the miles up to me and help me carry him out. He finally persisted and found the man who could help us by getting the gate open. Then Randy persisted in driving all the way up and from the length of time it took for him to get to me I think he took a few detours , one of us doesn't carry a gps (I had mine!). Together we were able to help these two creatures. I bet they were glad to be back home later that night (I called and checked the next morning to make sure they were picked up). By the way, Randy is a sometimes cacher so if he ever reads this thread, a big thank you!
  12. Sadly(?) it is my grandson's birthday on Saturday so I will not be joining on this one as much as I want to visit this area. Oh well, I do have a party to look forward to! Have fun, take lots of pictures,
  13. It's 1000 feet of net elevation gain. The trailhead is 160 feet above sea level and the tunnel is 1200 feet. Eagle Creek is one of the most popular hikes in the gorge, and rightly so. There are six active caches on the trail. You need a federal Northwest Forest Pass or equivalent to park at the trailhead. 1000 ft gain over 6 miles is no elevation gain to speak of All about perspective.
  14. I recently walked the Eagle Creek trail outside of Cascade Locks (across from Stevenson, WA). This was one beautiful and interesting trail, one of the nicest I have been on. It may be a bit more than you are looking for if you have a pup, I took my creature with me but she is an adult. Distance to the tunnel through the falls is listed as 6 miles and there is no elevation gain to speak of. I should mention this may not be for those with height issues. This cache has the info on how to find the trailhead: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GCK9GR This website has other info as well: http://www.portlandhikersfieldguide.org/wiki/Eagle_Creek_to_Tunnel_Falls_Hike I can also recommend the shorter walk in the area as a nice place to visit, the trail starts here: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC1D29V
  15. OH NO! I am so glad to hear that you are alright. Very unfortunate about the van though.
  16. I believe that may be mine. Perhaps I can convince Ricki to come south with me and we can meet somewhere...There is a good beer house in Mt Vernon!
  17. Now that was FUN! Thank you for another adventure.
  18. It sounds like fun! Let me know the meet time. It is about the same time for me from Bham to Baker or to Baker Lake.
  19. Where in the Baker Lake area were you considering? I did not know your daughter lived up here!
  20. I was concerned about that. Keep us posted as to new location if you change it.
  21. Contemplating this one since it is up here on my mountain. Oh, also I own that cache. There is suppose to be 13 inches new today and even more tonight. Just something to keep in mind.
  22. GoogleEarth folks, if you want a hybrid, go to your profile-quick view page. Right hand column, you can choose to view the caches in GoogleEarth. There. Some problems/complaints solved. I imagine that, as always, this will get sorted out over the next week or so as it always does. Step away from the edge...

    Maps and iPad

Greetings all. I know that the frog is aware of the issues of both the beta maps and the original maps and how they (don't) work on iPad. I did a search of the forums and did not see any updates on how this is going. Any progress that anyone knows of?
  24. Just signing in to look to see if I can use my ipad with Wherigo. Thought that instead of starting at the beginning and reading 13 pages of chit chat, I decided to go directly to the last page to see what the final outcome was. Good to see this thread has been diverted to something that had nothing to do with ipads and Wherigo.
