I'm betting large quatloos that it hasn't been 3 days since you submitted this one?

    Chill out dude.

I knew it...I just knew it.

    You are from Triskelion.

    Who me?

    What happened to the KABOOM?

  2. Umm, you did get an email that contained this text when you submitted the cache right?

I see that bet and raise you two bars of gold-pressed latinum.

  3. I am experiencing disappearing pocket quiries. The first three downloaded just fine but the last two disappeared when I clicked the link to download... Hmmm!

You shouldn't publicize what pocket query thieves are doing. You are just giving them the attention that they thrive on. If your pocket query has turned up missing, just keep replacing it. Eventually the PQ thief will get tired of it and stop.

  4. I may have found my favorite log of all time. It's definitley one of the best in the history of ever. Check out the FTF log by lrbarrios on this cache.

Wife in the hospital, check. Never been in a kayak before, check. No PFD, check.

    FTF possibility, he** yes!

What part of this log seemed "best" to you?

The detail and humor. I especially enjoyed the line about sofa cusions working as PFD's for airlines.

It probably wouldn't have been nearly as funny if he capsized due to one of the many boat wakes he encountered earler, got separated from his kayak, and drowned because he wasn't wearing a PFD.

Wasn't that what the sofa cushions were for? ;)

  5. OK so it is NOT an off shoot of this site. No need to bother with it.

In a way it is an off shoot of this site. To get listing mass the other site encourages cache owners to list the caches they have listed on this site to list on their site. But this begs the question that if you log here why would you want to log there? So it comes down to no need to bother with it.

With a few exceptions, it's just a outdated, partial mirror site. Caches crosslisted there may be archived here, so there's nothing there to find.

  6. This was one of my most fun DNFS ever, just outside Las Vegas. I did go back later and find the cache, but it wasn't as much fun as the not-finding part.

This was without a doubt my most fun DNF. Emboldened by the logs below about the road being well-graded, me and my little Honda Civic set out for fun and games at 9:30, hoping to beat the heat. Might have done it, too, if I hadn't turned off on Rainbow Gardens road instead of Lava Butte. Not nearly as well-graded, but made it to a point about .5 miles from the cache. Supposedly.

It got bloody HOT bloody fast. Hike hike hike, make it to the power line road. Lots of construction vehicles. I relaxed in the shade of one - this was about 11:30. Their environmental advisor, who is named Kelly by the way, was very nice and drove me up the power line road (which turned out to BE the Lava Butte Road - I waypointed the intersection with Lake Mead) and back down to my car. I guess they were worried I'd get dehydrated, though I had plenty of water.

Anyway... Kelly knew a lot about the ecology and geology of the area, and it was a good length drive. I really learned a lot. I wish I could have talked with her longer!

Oh... I'll go back tomorrow at the crack of dawn and look for the cache again. From the right road.

  7. I do my part. I turn off the GPS when driving to the cache, and give other people dirty looks if I see a Nuvi on their windshield.

And for goodness sakes, close the blinds if you're not in the room and needing the light to read or something. We should all conserve solar energy.

Sunshine is over-rated. Since I started using Moonshine I've found that I don't see much sunshine, so use all you want to.

Please pass me some of that Moonshine.

  8. [this thread] Needs Moderator Attention.

I don't know. I still see a valid concern here...

The geocacher then posts about this proximity violating cache on the forum. This posting leads to supposed questions about reviewer competency. It also appears there is some question as to the reviewers gender since despite several mentions that the reviewer is female there are subsequent posts still referring to the reviewer as male.

There is still an issue here that has been left untouched. No one mentions the question of whether the reviewer is a canine or a human. I see at least two more pages as that issue really needs to be resolved here too.

Perhaps the reviewer is a doorknob. We can't eliminate that possibility. In which case, we need to ascertain if it's metal or wooden.

Is there some reason your prejudice against glass doorknobs?

They get smudgy! I'm entitled to not like them! It's a free country!
