147th & Q? GREAT area! If you are a walker/runner, I strongly suggest that you walk the area around Lake Zorinsky. There is a great bike trail that circles the lake, and many caches along it, of varying sizes and difficulties. I particularly recommend the "Hair of the Spider" and "Iron Lilac" multi. Both are great! If you want to walk, but not as far, Check out Chalco Rec area / Lake Wehrspann. Another beautiful lake, bike trail, not as busy as Zorinsky, and loaded with caches. Good earthcaches in the area - a City Separated is good; the Missouri, River of Hope & Change earthcache takes you out over the great new walking bridge over the Mo, between Nebraska and Iowa; Fort Lisa's Loess Bluffs is a good one, too! Random suggested caches: Batteries not Included, Fork off Beach Road, Sodapop Mountain, Caspars Crypt - these are all over the metro Omaha area, I don't know how mobile you will be. There's also a monthly breakfast event out in Ashland on Saturday at 9 am, about 20 miles west of Omaha along I-80 (mostly). It's called Breakfast at Salt Creek - good way to meet local cachers and get other suggestions! Hope this helps. I'm sure I could spout off tons more caches if I think about it!

Bug #10 popped up in the Stands. Despite the fact it was definitely Magor... someone squashed it under a beer can, and that was it...

I adopted the Nebraska 93 County Challenge from the previous owner about a year ago, and I think it's my favorite cache of all the ones I own! Granted, I don't know what logs are left on other caches by cachers seeking to get all the counties, but judging from the logs left on mine, it takes people way off the beaten path to find caches they would never have looked for without the challenge, and see things they would never have seen, without the challenge. Isn't one of the main points of caching to have people find the caches and see the unusual sights that the cache is supposed to draw you to? Does it really matter so much what brought them there?

I renewed my subscription. Heck, maybe I'll even send in a story. Who knows.

If that's a rule - don't cache alone - I'm a REBEL! I cache alone all the time. Only time I was accosted was by a man wearing blue... and a badge. But even with his help, I couldn't find the cache! Edited to note: My face isn't the type that would burn a thousand ships. Probably not even one model sailboat.

*gasp* Moosemob is still alive and kicking??? Gotta agree, caching in the area around Vegas is great. For fun puzzle caches (and regular caches) within a 50 mile radius though: Valentine, NE ranks waaaaaaay up there, thanks to James Bridger!

*wince* Dump any cache that has fewer then 20 visitors, and you weed out the caches that are really worth going for, the tough hiking 'somewhere out there' caches in places few people ever tread. Heck, even some of mine don't get more than a few visits a year, and they are pretty close to civilization! It'd be a good way to encourage PnG. Which really doesn't need it.

General Crook House Cache - GC1G783 It's a ammo can, but so perfectly blended in that it takes a bit of looking. As you can see from all the logs! Without a doubt, my favorite cache in terms of camo. Nice location, too!
