  1. Thank you. HJe's the only one who apologized and made amends for what he posted and this is how he is treated, and when pointed out they continue it. See why I seldom post here anymore either? Doesn't matter anymore. He's gone. Nice work you, fr****** bunch of idiots who drove him away. Go pat yourselves on the back.
  2. You know, I think I'll follow Chrys' and GeoBain's example and quit posting so much, except in off-topic. Doubt I'll be missed much, but that's the breaks. Subtract 3 from those "50 regular posters" TAR referenced in an earlier post. Cheers and see you in that other forum.
  3. At the moment there have been 2508 views of this thread but only 120 posts. That too tells me that folks are hesitant to post even when the topic interests them. I had my say. Doesn't mean I don't come back often to check what others are saying. *shrug*
  4. Suddenly I'm glad I DIDN'T meet you when you passed through the area...
  5. Well, prom my poush!! You're not gonna nominate Starbrand? Shhhh! I'm trying to get some brownie points from my reviewer!
  6. Not at all. And you can't place a virtual. Not anymore.
  7. Definitely Contryguy, the King of Nebraska geocachers! With Rotorootie coming up with his sidekick Doogie Dog, trying to steal the crown...
  8. News flash for all the people piling on "non-newbies". We're people, too. We make mistakes. Most of us, like the person referenced above, admit to them and take the consequences. I'm getting a very definite "oh, those forum veterans are so nasty and evil, have at them!" vibe here. News flash. They - we - aren't. If I count as a veteran, I've not been here near as long as many of them. Yeah, I post off topic a lot in threads, to try to lighten them up, and yes, I can get really sarcastic at times. Guess what... there's that whole "not perfect" again. I'm guessing this won't stop people from continuing to pile on, but I hate to see people getting driven away from the forums like they are being now. Are the people doing it any better than what was done in that one thread? Ask yourselves if you are vindicated because it's "veteran forum posters" leaving? Would you have the courtesy to admit your mistake and make several very public apologies, or do you really prefer sticking knives in the back of people you DON'T EVEN KNOW? I'm done now. This whole thing makes me sick. I may get my first warning, but I don't care. Just shut up and lay off the "non-newbie" posters already!!!
  9. *sigh* You'll be missed, too. The fun factor of the forums is falling very quickly.
  10. Doesn't match some of the others, but.... Sunset over Lake Yankton, SD, July 17.
  11. Lol. It's ok to dump on newbies all we want, but once we get called out THEN it's time to close the thread down? Um, pretty sure that's not what I said. *rereards post* No, that's not what I said, sure enough.
  12. Seems like people are coming out of the woodwork to scold the poster who screwed up. They already know they screwed up, and they've made amends the best they can. Why dump on them more? That's why I wish this thread would be closed. The point's been made and received.
  13. If I had been the vulture, and you stopped me from getting a FTF, I would be annoyed, too!
  14. *heavy sigh* Such mischaracterizations shale catch up with you in time...
  15. Hey, don't knock it. Every now and then, it's gneiss to come across a good thread!
  16. I use an iPod nano to hold my tunes and caching notes at the same time. True, I can't edit the info, but it's very handy to have along! I use a GSAK macro to load the cache notes onto the iPod. It's pretty easy to find, but I don't have the link to hand - sorry!
  17. Admitted, it did take several hours of meditation and chanting pre-caching* ... but catsnfish is correct. All hail the Blue Bow!! * and a heaven-sent caching partner to beat down the nettles
  18. Keep using your stamp! There's nothing wrong with that. I used a yellow flower to sign a log yesterday, it was spur of the moment and I didn't have a pen. I'm positive that if you drink enough, you can squint and see where it says Sioneva - otherwise it looks like a yellow smudge, but it's proof I was there. And that's all that counts.
  19. Change is great if it is genuine.Like a Blue Bandanna! You're not digging the new look? It is not genuine!
  20. Here is where bringing a new idea to an existing hobby/game is not a good idea. The basic tenet of geocaching is Find the Cache, sign the log. Not just get close to the cache. After you have found a few dozen more perhaps you may learn just how close you can be to some caches and still not be able to find them. I have one that is out in plain sight, yet on more than one occasion I have had to steer someone's hand to it with their feet planted firmly on the ground. I have had trouble finding it myself at times. If you want credit for merely getting close, try wherigos or Waymarking. Whoa wism guy, I may be new to geocaching but I know that you can log any geocache even if you havent even gone anywhere NEAR it. You may not have signed the log but you can log it on the website right? So you cant say that would change anything. But I see your concern. Instead maybe implement a code that is on the logbook. Input the code into your iphone 4 and than wala you are aloud to log it and not aloud to log it UNLESS you have seen the code on the log sheet. Its solves the issue of logging something u didnt find, if that is an issue. Well, at least you recognize his wisdom. That is a start at least - well done, young grasshopper! And sure you can log any cache on the website without signing the log or even gone near it, and then watch your log get deleted by the cache owner if they realize it. That's called cheating. And special codes are generally not allowed for caches. Ref. ALR. But keep thinking, seriously! I'm not trying to shut you down, just point out what Groundspeak and/or cache owners generally won't allow.
