  1. I gotta admit, I wander over to read the forums on OC whenever I need a mood picker-upper / entertainment. Or when the paranoia meter needs a boost - it goes Miles Per Hour off the scale whenever I open some of the multiple threads.
  2. I don't think I'm allowed to post here... because it would be my idea to post, and therefore not about the OP's idea. So please ignore this post. It wasn't my idea.
  3. Um, aren't others allowed to discuss their ideas as well? That's what this thread is here for...
  4. A City Separated EarthCache details how this came about. This cool looking Earthcache is in blatant violation of the Earthcache guidelines. You can NO LONGER demand that photos be posted unless it is specific to the lesson of the earthcache. But hey, that's a different topic. Besides, it's not even catsnfish's EC, so yelling at them doesn't accomplish anything.
  5. Well, it's nice to know that you're using your position as a law enforcement officer to implement personal agendas that have nothing to do with your appointed duties or the laws you're sworn to uphold. Perhaps I can think of some ways to abuse my official position as well. So much to think about. Ignore him... I'm guessing he's upset because PMO caches are less likely to be cross-listed on another hosting site that I will not name.
  6. As evidenced by the fact that it was my account, and not somebody else's, who posted it. Fascinating observation. THank you. Next show's at 8.
  7. Oh, possibly. Don't take the rubbish comment personally. All challenge caches are rubbish, not yours specifically. Fortunately, that is just your opinion... Look, we get it, you don't like challenge caches. Now can you find a new talking point? Thanks.
  8. Yes, but Earthcaching is very specific to one type of subject, geology. That makes it easy for them to make things black and white. Either it's about geology or it's not. Earthcaches used to include more types of listings, but you are correct. It is all about geology now. But Waymarking still has listings for all the type listings that GSA will no longer approve, Um, I hope I'm not triggering your paranoia meter by disagreeing with you, but earthcaches were always about geology. That's why they're called "earth"caches...
  9. Come home to Off-Topic, little wandering thread... come home...
  10. it happens...... For that matter, it really isn't broken, anyway. It is just missing a sheet metal screw or two. No call to insult the poor broken thing... saying it has a screw or two loose...
  11. Of course it's right. As long as it serves the powercaching community's desires, anything goes. Wow. Snark level just went off of the scale, Cap'n! From a moderator, no less!
  12. Yeah. You guys. You know who you are. It's the New Year, and I just wanted to say thanks for all the work you do in publishing caches and particularly in keeping the forums civil! Tough job sometimes, but someone's gotta do it - so thanks!
  13. Let's drop the campaign to have the Earthcaches unarchived. It's not going to happen. The last mention of the un archive one was a joke! That's what all this means! "he, he. lol signed, Don, full of windmill splinters, Quixote" Understood, Konnarock Kid & Marge. My post was intended for the general audience of this thread and not specifically to poke you in the eye. Maybe you can use it to explain the pirate's eye patch. edit - added missing smiley Thanks. As old Don slowly retreats from the windmill enriched with only splinters, he and the campaign fade into the sunset! Pssst! Before you go... have a donut!!
  14. Just wait until Virts come back...this will all come up again. Yeah, okay. So can we drop it until then?
  15. This is getting ridiculous. Is this ever going to stop? What good is trying to drive more people away from earthcaches over this photo question? TPTB have spoken. Photos are not required. (Except of nice pears.) Telling someone that earthcaching isn't for them because they may not have or may not choose to carry a camera - how is the lack of a picture going to impair their ability to absorb the geology or appreciate the beauty of the spot they have been drawn to? Presumably, the cache owner has already been there and admired the view him/herself, as have each person logging it, yes? Sorry, just getting tired of the whole bloody Mt. Debacle. Can't we cork it up?
  16. I don't do many puzzles either. If you don't want people to earth cache and have it be elitist great. I would like to do earth caches. I enjoy the ones I do. But if I'm apparently not welcome to do earth caches because "not all caches are for all people" then fine. But if that is the official stance of earth cachers I would hope that is clearly posted on all earth cache pages and promoted by the overseeing group. So people don't become disenchanted and think earth caches are meant to be found by all cachers. Not just the select few. I don't think that's official stance. Sure hope not. It's not my stance, anyway... You are welcome to come do my earthcaches - I only have three, but I like to pretend they are good ones. The more the merrier! I do require that you include a picture of the pear in your log. It's such a nice pear.
  17. No, I was logged in - and that would only affect distance and location info, not D/T ratings, I think.
  18. I was looking at an event, then clicked on "All nearby caches that I have not found". Over the usual difficulty/terrain bar, there are big grey question marks, and the bar is greyed out and identical for every cache. Seems like a magor bug. I'm not sure where to report it anymore, so please move this thread to the proper place... thansk!
  19. I have a toothpick (still mint in the wrapper!) and a chocolate candy cane... Should be worth a least a few points!
  20. I think it's pretty awful, myself. Clunky and - I dunno. Depressingly grey. And way too "blocky". First impression anyway.
