I'm sure this topic has been beaten to death but my searches didn't turn up anything specific for me, it seems most cachers use palm OS pdas.
I am looking for something like GSAK for my iPaq, which is Pocket PC Windows Mobile OS.
I just don't kow where to look for something like that, anyone have something good?
Thanks!

I don't kow if it true for anyone else, but for me I have to enter my email address into the "alternate email" field and select it in order for it to get to me even though it is the same email as what the account is default to.
Otherwise they run and I never receive them...

when you no longer do the "spider web dance" when you get it in your face.

Never keep more than 5 gallons of gas in your car.
Cache via bicycle
Edit to note: Always start by going uphill or you will ride the bus back after going cache crazy...
-
Good to know I'm not the only one thinking about it.
A quick java script link on the pages that could "Show map" and display a resizable Iframe/image would be ideal.

Got muh new aztec tracking time geocoin.
It's huge, and very very neat to look at. Great quality coin if anyone wants to know.

Honey, its the cache or the kid... time to let him go.

Is there an option to not display maps on the description pages? The dinky things are no good and really slow it down...
IMHO

Ok so I started this thread a while back because my GPS had been stolen and I was curious how many units people end up going through.
Thought I'd give an update now that my SECOND unit was stolen. Call me a slow learner but this theft was a little more brutal. The first one was because I was dumb by leaving the car unlocked, at school, at night in a jeep (the #1 broken into car around here). This time around it was in my frikkin driveway, locked and really poorly jimmied into (my driver's door doesn't lock anymore). With the unit locked in the glove compartment. And they actually took more than just the GPS. Not much more, they weren't the smartest in the world I guess, they took the faceplate off my stereo but left the stereo, took the GPS from the glovebox but left my checkbook..
A lot of work for an old explorist 210 and a useless stereo part...
But again, an excuse to upgrade. Used the forums' garage sale to trade an old laptop for a used 60cs, bought the nav kit and am lovin it, and it never leaves my side. I don't even leave it at home much, I take it to work with me (I work in a pharmacy) and keep it in the safe
So now my Jeep is empty. I even keep the reg and ins in my wallet and leave the jeep unlocked so they don't have to break in to see that it was a waste of time. If they decide to just take the jeep itself they won't get far, I don't even keep gas in it!
So in short I'm up to unit number 3, how bout you?
I feel ya, man!

A bright orange vest, a clipboard, my GPSr and a tape measure or something hanging from a belt loop and I'm pretty much invisible while looking up drain pipes, wading through bushes, and searching under benches for urban caches. It looks weird if you are dong it on a hike of course but in downtown Denver, nothin works better.

Wow, am I one of a select few who actually activates every coin and then sends them into the world?
What good is a coin going to do ya sitting in a book somewhere?
I do like the idea of keeping a single personal coin and logging it at events and such. But why keep handfuls of coins in your desk drawer?

I make my own metal geocoins. Not quite minted quality but people seem to like the hand made items.
Yes, they are lead (its all I can manage to melt), but they are covered in rustoleum and then clear coated to keep from handling problems.

i use energize 2500s and just as an example, I pulled a couple out of the charger and put them in my 60cs, hooked it up to the computer to put in some new caches before going to bed and then accidentally left it turned on all night long.
I just picked it up and went caching the next morning with plenty of juice.

Hmm I just created a new PQ and it ran right away. The same PQ that I have been using for months with the same settings as the one I just did has still not ran. Oh well, I can leave now
Same happened to me, I created and ran it and it didn't come in my email. I decided to copy it and run it again and same thing. Didn't run. So I went back into it a dozen times changing little things here and there just to tweark the script that runs the thing to see if I could get it to work and finally what I did was fill in my email address into that alternate email field (yes the same one my account is connected to), ran it and it worked.

Probably not, but I thought I'd ask anyway...
Is there a way to set up the google earth geocaching kml to not display caches that I have found or that are diasbled or....?
Thanks!
-
I just bought a few new geocoins and went out to find some caches to place them in today but found that it was hard to let them go for fear of muggles or whatnot...
Anyone out there have any rules of thumb as to what caches to risk placement and which ones to just sign the log and move on?

Learning new skills.
As my experience as a cache finder grows, I lose my car keys less often
-
Original ones. Most of my hides I did before I found all that many, now I know why a lot of cachers get bored. From now on I will only place caches in containers that I haven't found myself

One, but I just ordered my second.
I'm actually surprised I've only had one in two and a half years, and it still works. Most of my electronics don't last that long when I touch them. I've been through three cell phones, two digital cameras, and three pagers during the same time frame. I don't buy watches any more because either they get lost or stop working.
I went high end this time, I'm just hoping I don't regret it. As in lose it or break it.
Just don't leave it in your car

During the summer I like going out at first light, a couple of hours before traffic gets bad and the temperature rises.
During winter the best days are (here in Denver) those freakish mid-winter 75 degree days when it is perfectly warm, no snow on the ground, no leaves and no undergrowth.

I've owned an explorist and now a garmin 60cs. The magellin has it beat on reception under trees (and under power lines) and lasts longer on batteries, but the garmin is much better at accuracy for caching and tracks/routes for hikes.
IMHO

I have a 60cs and if I go and buy dollar store brand AAs, or even regular energizers or duracell that look like they have been sitting on the shelf for a while, the GPS drains them in less than an hour.
I invested in some 2500 NiMH AA's (a 4 pack for 10 bucks) and a charger (also about 10 bucks). I cached today for about 6 hours straight on a single pair of those with the barometer, WAAS, and compass running while beeping with autorouting. I then came home, popped them in the charger and will do the same tomorrow

Explorist 100 and 210 both did that on startup, would go blank for a second then run fine.

I just want to let everyone know that I went with GPXSonar.
Great program, thanks!
