  1. It appears that antique finishes are in order (: Is anyone interested in ant. copper? I'm thinking 1. standard antique finishes (we all love those) 2. In my mind I see it as an all metal two-tone coin. The background pattern is pressed into a recessed gritty gold surface and the text, designs and circular perimeter are raised polished silver. The design parts with bolder lines and the text are at the full height of the perimeter and the thin lined parts are at a height in between the recessed background and the other raised surfaces. The perimeter band is the polished silver, and the dark arrow points are recessed gold. The light arrow points (behind the lettering) is gritty silver. The lettering on the perimeter is slightly raised gold. 3. Number 2 but with translucent color with the gritty and scroll work underneath and the raised metal scroll above the translucent. Ideas?
  2. Time's up I'll pick a winner this evening (I need to look some of these up to find some pics!) and post/email. Thanks all!
  3. This is still just a design, nothing more yet. Glad you like it so far though (: I've sent an email seeking approval, but I think I'm going to move ahead with a minter if all is well. I've just never done this before, but hey, the first few people like it
  4. This is my first coin design attempt for a minted coin. I'm working on figuring out which metals and finishes it would look good in and thought I'd take some input, if anyone even likes it at all The quote is a J.R.R. Tolkien quote and the script/writing is simplified Tengwar, a written and spoken language created by Tolkien as well. Flip sides of the coins are direct translations of the opposite side.
  5. I'm with snoogans on this one. There is a pinned thread in the TB forums specifically for people who want to rant about their TBs disappearing. Why not a general soapbox forum to help clean up the rest of the forums? If there was a place for mods to shovel angst/whine/rant/vent threads that have very little to do with the forum topic they are in, what would be left would make the forums generally higher quality. IMHO edit to add: I don't think it is a penalty box, a penalty is a locked thread. This is just organization
  6. I watched Nochipra's cointest and loved the idea of offering a coin for trade for public offers. The trade goes as normal, but in reward for posting your offer publicly you get a bonus surprise coin The idea is to inspire further trades since in order to take a stab at getting my coin, you open yourself to inquiries from other traders (indcluding myself:)) The coin I'm offering is the LEAD version of my handmade 2008 coins. I screwed up and put my phrase on the back instead of personalizing it for the order. So rather than eBay it, I think I'll trade it. You can't buy just one lead coin, they only come in sets, so this is a treat for some of you who have asked for a special sale Pics at http://www.scavok.com/geocoin.php The surprise coin may not be anything spectacular (though I really like it!), and it may be something you already have. So be aware, the surprise coin is already selected. I'll pick the trade offer I like best when I get home from work on Tuesday afternoon (2pm-ish MST). These rules come right from Nochipra's thread (thanks again for a great idea, IMHO) 1. Offer only 1 COIN Per Post. 2. You can post as many times as you like and as often as you like but only 1 coin offer per post. 3. Series offers only. You can joke around if you like but make sure your post has one coin you would seriously trade. 4. Make sure you check out everyone else's offer before posting your own. If two posts are the same and I like that offer I will pick the first one posted. 5. Please be kind and don't make rude comments based on others offers. 6. Please don't ask for a specific coin as your surprise coin, what I'm offering as the surprise coin stands. 7. Note: Check out my activated list so you don't offer something we already have
  7. Just adding a quote from the WIYMB thread since it has a very nice picture of a full 5 piece set... Thanks Bluemotmot!
  8. Received 2 coins today The Rubicon Brothers geocoin which was a fantastic surprise! Also a 2005 compass rose coin, both from Cache-U-nuts. Thanks so much for the trade guys, yours will be out soon
  9. This is the first I've looked into this thread and holy cow. I just have to say that is frikkin ridiculous. I only own one "mystery" coin and I had to buy it! How the heck do you get these things?? I miss public sales on coins half the time, there is no possible way I can see finding that many mystery ones I need to get on the mailing list for mystery coins I guess...

    Coin Minting

I have received some wonderful advice and I thank you all for it.
  12. Yep. I have my handmade trackables right now and am in the works for a minted coin. We'll see how that turns out!
  13. Only received one today, though I only ordered one... the Two Tone Absolutely Fantastic, great job!

    Coin Minting

I once saw a post that mentioned how some mints will allow you to pre-sell coins to finance the minting. I am thinking about trying my hand at a minted coin (as opposed to only handmade ones). Does anyone know which mint that was, or know of any others that do the same? Thought I'd ask anyway
  15. Here's the thread for the info http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=116641 The jist of it is that if you want tracking codes specific to COINS you have to buy them from groudspeak in bulk. If you want to track just a few coins, the best way is to buy a TB dog tag and use that.
  16. How can I have missed this thread for so long? So many names, who do I contact to be invited (not to invite myself or anything:D)??
  17. I was partial to my own, but otherwise I have to go with the Tranquility geocoin series. The coins are frikkin gorgeous, yes, but the real reason I liked them is the message on the back of the coins. Each coin is an eye-full, but displaying all 15 of them together is a sight to see!
  18. ha ha ur right. msnbc, cnn, same thing but different to the searcher I guess
  19. Mine has never said to turn ON to the tracks Yet another reason for a Jeep I guess (:
  20. I recently went through and read all the logs on the coins and bugs I've released and I am a little peeved at the fact that they get to do all the traveling while I go to school all day. Am I the only one who gets jealous of their trackables???
  21. It cost me absolutely nothing but time to have mine minted. Supplies is another story though...
  22. Just a quick note to ask if you have a guestimate on shipping time for the pre-ordered coins? I know the store closes on feb 1 at the latest, but have they given you any ideas on minting time?
  23. My wonderful wife ran my orders while i was at work Got an XLE and 2 of each regular finish in the pre-order. No LE though. Ah well
  24. Wohoo I got the trade I've been looking forward to for a while now. Tiki Stubborn Stone #169/200 I love the detail in these thing!
